A single storey converted stable with rustic features heated by woodburner and located at the end of a farm track alongside three other charming cottages.. Ground Floor:

Bathroom: Bath With Shower Attachment, Toilet. Electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi included. Fuel for wood burner included. Patio with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: There is a natural gravity-fed water supply from a spring. . Surrounded by dramatic scenery. This is one of 4 cottages at Birkerthwaite, a former 17th century Lakeland Farmstead which is high in the hills and features beams taken from shipwrecks on the Cumbrian Coast. Birkerthwaite lies at the end of an unmade track and is surrounded by tranquil moorland scenery and farmland. A perfect escape from the busy modern world. This is fantastic walking countryside and the elevated position gives views of Scafell and the Eskdale Valley. Birkerthwaite Stable (W41477) is a single-storey converted stable with rustic charm heated by a multi- fuel log-burner that in turn heats a back- boiler. Nearby attractions include Muncaster Castle and Hardknott Roman Fort, whilst the Langdale Pikes and Ambleside on the northern shores of Lake Windermere can be reached via a stunning drive over the Hard Knott and Wrynose Passes. A short drive away is Wast Water; to the west are sandy beaches. Alternatively take the steam train from Ravenglass. Shop 3 miles, pub 2½ miles.

Take the M6 and turn off at Junction 36 on the A590 to Barrow/Newby bridge. Take the A595 to Workington/Barrow in Furness. Turn right to Ulpha. After Ulpha Church take the left to Eskdale which climbs steeply. After 8 miles of Fell Road you will see a sign saying Stanley Ghyll (unfit for motorists) turn right here, then at the wheelie bins turn onto a rough track. Please ignore all signs saying footpath only. Proceed for a few hundred yards, until you reach a gate which says Birkerthwaite. Continue through this gate on this track until you reach the farm. Go through 2 gates to cross the farmyard. The second gate leads you to the property. You are not required to call the owner before your arrival.
