About this property
A FEW MINUTES FROM THE GORGES DE L'ARDECHE HOLIDAY HOUSE FOR 10 PEOPLE
Only 3 minutes from the Ardèche gorges, in Saint-Julien de Peyrolas (Gard), at n ° 89 rue de la Vieille route, quiet, La Peyrolaise is a large and comfortable village house with 110 m2 of living space on a ground floor of equivalent area. The latter includes a bathroom, a WC, a play area. A vehicle can be parked there. Completely renovated in 2011, very well equipped, up to 10 people can easily stay at La Peyrolaise. The region benefits from more than 2,500 hours of sunshine per year. With beautiful openings, the house is bright and offers, from its veranda, a view of the Rhône valley and Mont Ventoux. Located at the crossroads of Provence, Cévennes and Languedoc-Roussillon, many famous tourist sites surround it. You can discover them without making long journeys. La Peyrolaise is at the door of the beautiful natural reserve of the Gorges de l'Ardèche. The village of Saint-Martin d'Ardèche, which marks the end of the canyon, is only 1.5 km away. This is the starting point for hikes and canoe / kayak expeditions as well as places for swimming in the gorges. You can discover these on your own or choose to take advantage of the skills of nature guides approved by the Syndicate of management of the Gorges of the Ardèche who will reveal the least secrets to you ... Saint-Martin is also, throughout the summer, a place for idleness, celebration and conviviality (tourist office, nightclubs, balls, restaurants, open-air cinema, markets, free communal fitness area, various activities. ..).
Staying at La Peyrolaise will allow you to discover many tourist sites, including: - on site in Saint Julien de Peyrolas, an ancient fortified village, from its belvedere, the Ardèche and Rhône valleys where many vineyards with the AOC Côtes du Rhône flourish. The village is on the tourist wine route. Many orchards including local fruit trees and vegetables are grown organically. All these products are available directly from producers, in Saint-Julien de Peyrolas itself or in the surrounding villages. You will also find them on the stalls of local markets, in particular that of Pont Saint Esprit (7 km) on Wednesday evening or Saturday morning. - Less than a kilometer from La Peyrolaise, you can enjoy a large tree climbing area with 7 courses, several zip lines including one of 250 meters. Equipped with the latest in safety (children have access from the age of 3 years ...) it is only a few hundred meters from the arrival of the gorges in Saint Martin d'Ardèche. Its proximity even makes it possible to get there on foot from La Peyrolaise. - a "SwingRoller" park (for young and old) which is 3 minutes by car, just before crossing the suspension bridge at St-Martin d'Ardèche. - hiking trails, of which more than 300 km are marked in the sector of the agglomeration community of Gard rhodanien (Rhône valleys, Cèze and Ardèche rivers). These walks, accessible to all, are done through landscapes of the Mediterranean type of wild aspect: national forest of Valbonne, scrub, scrubland or fragrant lavender fields are available to you. On the other side of the Rhône valley, Mont Ventoux imposes its majestic silhouette on the horizon with the Southern Alps as a backdrop. Towards the North-East, you will discover the Alps, the summits of which stand out in the distance. You will discover the many hilltop villages in the area. Many have fortification buildings as well as typical constructions such as wash houses. - many cycling routes (road or mountain bike) are available to you and allow you to circulate within superb landscapes, in particular on the road of the gorges of the Ardèche and to cross places full of charm. - visit the 3 villages classified among the most beautiful villages in France, namely Aiguèze, just 2 km away, clinging to the cliff on the Gard bank and which overlooks the course of the Ardèche, La Roque sur Cèze (15 km) on its peak overlooking the valley of the river La Cèze and Montclus (16 km) whose ruined castle is reflected in the course of this river, also discover: - 10 km away, the Chartreuse de Valbonne, former 13th century abbey, nestled in a magnificent primary forest - 18 km away, the medieval fortress of Mornas, built in the 11th century on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Rhône valley, which presents historical shows throughout the summer. - the 11 belvederes built on the immediate edge of the road that follows the canyon of the Ardèche and which offer superb views between Saint-Martin d'Ardèche and Vallon Pont d'Arc (35 km separate the two villages). - the many caves in the region: St-Marcel at 5 km, the Madeleine at 10 km (at the house of the nature reserve), Aven d'Orgnac at 17 km (classified as a major site in France), the Forestière at 19 km, Aven Marzal at 24 km and La Salamandre at Méjanne Le Clap at 30 km. AND ESPECIALLY, visit the reproduction of the Chauvet cave in Vallon Pont d'Arc, known as the Pont d'Arc cave, just 30 km from "La Peyrolaise". The original natural cave, discovered in 1994, listed in 2014 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is exceptional because it is unique in the world. It houses drawings dating back 35,000 years, the oldest ever discovered so far in an ornate cave. The man of Cro Magnon represented prehistoric beasts there, including a good number of wild beasts never seen elsewhere. Its magnificent reproduction and its furnished discovery spaces are to be discovered. In summer, remember to book your entrance tickets in advance. - the crocodile farm, unique in Europe, in Pierrelatte, is only 17 km away. More than 300 saurians and many other exotic animals in a tropical greenhouse of 8000 m2 await you. You will experience a certain change of scenery. - the many ancient or medieval buildings (between 30 minutes and 1 hour drive): Arc de Triomphe and Roman amphitheater of Orange, Pont du Gard, oppidum of Laudun L'Ardoise, Palais des Papes and the Pont in Avignon etc. - natural curiosities such as the resurgence of the La Sorgue river at Fontaine de Vaucluse located 85 km away (5th strongest phenomenon of its kind in the world). - the maritime environment: beaches of the Mediterranean Sea at 1 h 30 (La Grande Motte, Grau du Roi, Saintes Maries de la Mer), the Camargue (with its exceptional natural environment: its horses, bulls and flamingos particularly at the Pont de Gau ornithological park in Saintes Marie de la Mer ...). You can also visit the medieval city of Aigues Mortes and its salt marshes, an ancient port now lost in the land ...
Finally, for cyclists using the VIA RHONA (bicycle route that follows the course of the Rhône over more than 800 km), they can stop at La Peyrolaise before continuing their journey.

Large well equipped property, good value for money
We enjoyed our trip and the house is huge for 4 people and well equipped. We ran out of hot water once or twice so be wary with larger groups. Also we had unseasonable hot weather and cooling the house was difficult. Other than those small things we had a fantastic region to explore including the Gorges l’Ardeche and the many beautiful communities, markets and medieval villages in the area. Kayaking and the caves are a must do.
