Lovely cottage close to everything

Had a lovely time visiting family in Dundee and our cottage was the perfect place to rest. Close to shops and the Kingsway. Plenty of room for everyone and equipped with everything we needed. We will be back and will recommend to anyone travelling that way.

Great stay in a peaceful setting

We had a lovely time staying in this spacious, well-situated cottage. Located on the quiet grounds of an estate, it was a great base for getting to Cairngorms and Trossachs National Parks, and for an easy drive to St. Andrews. The hosts, Gillian and Michael, were very helpful and welcoming, responsive to all our questions before and during and our stay, and gave great recommendations for beautiful hikes. Thanks for a great holiday!

Charming, convenient, and well appointed.

Lovely property was well prepared for us. Good kitchen reasonably well stocked. On a handsome old estate and convenient to sites without being in the tourist corridor. Just an hour to Edinburgh airport. Gillian was very communicative and friendly. Good home base for visits to Stirling, St. Andres, and the northeast coast.

Charming Stone Character Built Terrace Cottage

Had a wonderful Grad- Birthday here with family and two small dogs. Courtyard garden and side garden fully enclosed. Cottage well kitted out with kitchen utensils etc. Gillian and Michael excellent hosts and phoned before we arrived during and when leaving to ensure all was going well. Lovely thoughtful welcome back of croissants and shortbread. Just what was required after a long journey. Would highly recommend as beautiful walks around estate all mainly on the flat. Central to all locations for Dundee and found this really great especially on day of my son’s graduation at Dundee. Modern decor and open plan kitchen leading to small courtyard garden with two seating areas. Very peaceful and quiet location. Would highly recommend.

Lovely House

The house was furnished with love. It was very clean and very well equipped. The nearby tennis courts are an added bonus. The owner looked after us wonderfully and gave us valuable tips for excursions in the area. Places we certainly would not have discovered without her. We also visited the wonderful Glamis Castle. Wonderful cottage

Right from the initial booking where I had excellent communication from Gillian, the owner, I knew this was going to be a great stay and it did not disappoint. The cottage is on a quiet estate, very easy to get to and the instructions were spot on. The cottage itself was immaculate. Everything you could want is provided (nice little welcome basket and milk in the fridge). Very spacious, very comfortable beds. We all had great nights sleep - it’s a very quiet location so that helped. Loved our short stay and I’d like to say we will be back at some point.

Incredible Experience

Me and my wife and our friends had an amazing experience in Scotland for the Open Championship. The majority of what made this great was our stay at the cottage. The hosts were very communicative from the beginning of our booking through check-in and check-out. They provided us great recommendations for transportation, golf and restaurants during our stay. This cottage was a great location for getting around to the various locations of Scotland we were visiting on our stay. I highly recommend this cottage.

Westwood Cottage - Excellent!

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Westwood Cottage, Gillian & Michael Bairstow & Scotland!Our 10 days in Scotland were fabulous! Lots to see in the surrounding area & close to bus routes but a car is probably best - if you can adjust to the "Circles" & oncoming traffic! (We did make it.) Returning from our adventures to Westwood Cottage was like coming home for more fun or just relaxing. The beds are so comfortable, we were refreshed & ready to start again each day. The courtyard is so inviting & pleasant & the neighbors, as well as everyone we met, were friendly & helpful. The information provided on the Cottage website is correctly stated. Gillian & Michael are so gracious & patient to respond quickly to all my questions - which were clearly explained in the Handbook provided with the lease & a copy available right on the kitchen table!

Westwood cottage Liff

We had a lovely stay in Westwood, the location was perfect - really close to Dundee with all it's attractions yet it felt we were in the middle of the countryside. The cottage itself very well equipped, it was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities we needed. Gillian and Michael were great hosts - communications were excellent from the point of booking right through to wishing us a safe trip home. We were there to celebrate a birthday and our hosts kindly left a welcome pack including a birthday cake and card, this was a really nice touch. I would recommend Westwood cottage to families looking for a good base to explore this part of Scotland and equally to groups looking for a relaxing break.

A slice of normal at the end of a site day

The hosts were so lovely, communicative and helpful right from the beginning. Could not ask for more. The property is delightful, light, airy, clean, beautifully finished and well provisioned. We were working long hours and Gillian and Michael were happy to change all the heating and water settings to accommodate our odd working/waking hours. Very much appreciated Would definitely recomen to anyone - would love to come back for a holiday - we never got to sit in the lovely lounge! Thank you for having us - Gill, Pam and Claudia

A 'wow' factor holiday rental

Firstly the owners of this property are so warm and welcoming. The information they provide about the property and its location is brilliant. The property itself is much bigger than you think. All on one level, it was an ideal choice for us. We took our parents, 90 years and 87 years, so they had the ensuite double and coped very well during the stay. Two further doubles provided very comfortable accommodation for us and my brother. The main bathroom being well equipped and huge. In fact all the rooms are very roomy with high ceilings and lots of windows so making the cottage very light and airy. The kitchen/dining area is my dream. But my home does not have the space. It is very well equipped with everything you need for cooking as we did prepare most of our evening meals. The cottage has a delightful courtyard with decking and garden furniture. It was well used the week we were there as the weather was great. Morning coffee, afternoon tea in the garden - what a treat! An added bonus was the wrap around grass back garden that our dogs so enjoyed. Yep this rental is dog friendly. The owners have a dog so understand their needs too! The cottage is part of a Victorian built hospital/sanatorium in its own grounds a few miles out of Dundee. It is a delight to wonder about the beautifully kept grounds and see the lovely individualised properties. However I thought Gillian and Michael's was the best of course in terms of its quiet, secluded location and being near to the entrance/exit of the complex. The last time I was in Dundee was 45 years ago so of course the town has changed. It has become a tourist attraction with the V&A, Discovery Centre and Verdant Mills - all very worth visiting. Dundee is also surrounded by wonderful rural scenery and historic towns such as St Andrews and Arbroath. With our dogs we found some excellent walks along beaches and in woods. They too had a wonderful and exhausting week. Gillian and Michael thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely home. We hope to return in the future and thoroughly recommend this property to anyone should you want to visit this part of Scotland.

Fantastic property and great base for exploring

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable, spacious and high quality cottage with its friendly owners. We enjoyed Tentsmuir beach, Broughty Ferry, St Andrews and Dundee Law plus highlights of Scone Palace and a walk up Glen Clova.

Cutest little cottage in beautiful surroundings

We had a wonderful stay in Dundee. The cottage was beautifully presented and super cosy, the log burner was a lovely addition We used on a couple of occasions. We had a shorter than expected stay due to a family emergency at home but on contacting gillian she was super helpful and sympathetic with us leaving early. While we stayed at the cottage the location was super easy to find, accessible for beautiful walks with our dogs and was great for accessing the city for shopping! We would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing break. Thanks again to Gillian and Michael

Fabulous home and location. All you need for a relax holiday and good base to surrounding attraction

Stunning, clean, well equipped home with great gardens. Took our Westie who loved the walks in the area. For those wanting to venture out, local attractions nearby and owners have recommended places to visit. A particular favourite for us was Lunan Bay. Sad to leave and hope to return in future. Absolutely recommend staying here.
