Housed in a splendid Gothic Revival-style building, The McManus: Dundee Art Gallery and Museum offers a fascinating insight into Dundee. With eight galleries to explore, there is a wealth of information to discover in exhibitions of art, history and the environment.

Dundee’s food and drink scene is transforming at a dynamic pace. Contemporary restaurants and enterprising bistros sit alongside cool coffee houses, tasteful cafes, craft beer bars and good food shops.

Lovely House
The house was furnished with love. It was very clean and very well equipped. The nearby tennis courts are an added bonus. The owner looked after us wonderfully and gave us valuable tips for excursions in the area. Places we certainly would not have discovered without her. We also visited the wonderful Glamis Castle. Thank you for your great hospitality, Gillian and Michael.

Great stay in a peaceful setting
We had a lovely time staying in this spacious, well-situated cottage. Located on the quiet grounds of an estate, it was a great base for getting to Cairngorms and Trossachs National Parks, and for an easy drive to St. Andrews. The hosts, Gillian and Michael, were very helpful and welcoming, responsive to all our questions before and during and our stay, and gave great recommendations for beautiful hikes. Thanks for a great holiday!

We live and work from home in Aberdeen, Scotland and have 2 grown up sons. Bud and Izzy the lovable doodles also lives with us and frequently comes with us to the cottage.

Why they chose this property

We spend a large degree of our time travelling to Dundee for work and visiting family. We love the city and surrounding areas and the activities on offer. With the new V&A Museum and refurbishment of the waterfront area, there is a real buzz around Dundee. The restaurants are really coming into their own and the different cuisines on offer, provide exceptional variations in choice.

To be in a beautiful unspoilt rural area, set within well kept private parkland and woodlands is a real joy. The peace and tranquillity at the cottage is a stark contrast to the busy streets of Dundee, yet only a few minutes away in the car. The placement of the cottage for exploring a large area of Scotland is second to none, with Angus, Fife and Perth literally on the doorstep.

What makes this property unique

There is nothing better than cosying up on the sofa, with a glass of wine and a roaring fire on in the wood burner.
The walks and views in and around the private estate are fantastic, yet minutes drive from the nearest amenities.
