About this property
A charming, traditional cottage in Normandy
A complete getaway. A stone cottage set between farm and fields, this house offers peace and calm in a beautiful natural setting. The terrace is a perfect place for sunny breakfasts of croissant from the local boulangerie and candlelit suppers or card games with only the occasional cow for company. Traditional stone kitchen and sitting-room with log burning fire create a relaxing environment. The garden is great for kids to play football, table tennis, badminton and set up tents for overnight adventures. There are tennis courts and horseriding facilities nearby and amusement parks with go-karting, skating, trampolining, laser quest, treetop climbing and rides. Soft sandy beaches are a 20 minute drive away at Brehal and Granville. Historic places like Mont Saint Michel, Bayeaux and the Normandy landing beaches and museums provide interesting day trips.

The house at St Denis le Gast was perfect for a country New Year retreat. We really appreciated the log fire and comfy sofas. The house is surrounded by beautiful countryside in a quiet lane. Tom gave several great recommendations for visits and was very responsive to any questions we had.

Nice location
A house on a beautifull and calm location. But nearby everything you need as a baker, butcher and supermarket. Also there are nice villages nearby.
Friendly contact

It was a pleasure to stay at this delightful property and it was a true lay memorable experience. From the moment we arrived we feel in love with the house and its enchanting charm. The cottage perfectly embodied the rustic Beaty of the region, making it an ideal retreat for the family. We love the region and although the cottage was remote and peaceful, it was conveniently just a short drive to stunning beaches and amenities. The cottage was well equipped with all the essentials, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We quickly realised we had overpacked for the trip, we will definitely travel lighter next time, as many of the items we brought along, were available in the cottage. The garden was fantastic to keep both me and the kids entertained throughout our sta. with swing ball, tennis, table tennis and bikes. We loved every minute of our stay and cannot wait to return, we strongly recommend.

Dear Tracy, absolutely delighted you enjoyed your stay in Normandy. It was a pleasure keeping in touch over your visit and we hope you’ll visit again! Very best wishes Tom & Sophie
We all agreed this house was one of the most memorable and wonderful aspects of our trip to France. This quintessential French country house accomodated our family of 8 so very well. Thank you for your hospitality and helpful tips for the area (we visited the boulangerie twice as bread, wine, and cheese make great picnics!)
We had a lovely stay, very quite and peacefull in the countryside, but only 20 to 30 minutes from the coast, 50 mins from saint mount micheal, really worth a visit, Nice large house for a family stay, everything is included in including games for the kids, books and lots more, really enjoyed our time there
We had a very nice holiday in this house. Handy location for visiting the whole of the Cotentin. No major problems. Thanks to Tom and Sophie for thir quick replies to my questions. The xmas tree was up when we arrived which made us feel at home immediately!
Overall the house was tired and old. Upstairs satisfactory. Downstairs kitchen. The oven burnt everything and the hob was uncontrollable to put to low temperature. The kitchen equipment old. There were no instructions for white goods. The electrics by the TV were exposed socket and dangerous . The house was dark and cold and we had to contact the owner for instructions to use the heating. The dustbin had wet old rubbish in so we couldn’t put refuse in bags in it and it smelt. Garden was overgrown and unkempt.

Dear Jim, thanks for your feedback. Useful feedback on the electric radiators - the controls on them are very simple and usually self explanatory but we will provide guidance in the future. Thanks for highlighting that a plug socket has been damaged, this was fine when the house was prepared for your arrival so we will fix this. There were storms just before you arrived which limited our chance to fully cut the lawn. We did try to call round and we subsequently suggested a visit early in your stay to help with any concerns but unfortunately you weren’t available or declined. Best wishes Tom & Sophie

Staying in early September 2023
The house looked full of potential but unfortunately in reality it proved to be internally dirty and outwardly completely unloved.
What appeared to have ample storage cupboards were cluttered and full with no room for our provisions. Third bedroom carpet was horribly stained by leaking en suite shower. En suite Shower room on first floor had black mould between floor tiles with a dirty stained shower mat. Wooden kitchen draining board was slimy with black mould in grooves. Dirty kitchen sinks. Garden very overgrown with dumped rubbish. Not Dog friendly as advertised. Barbecue was badly cracked and looked unsafe to use. Drive and stoned parking / social area had many ingrowing weeds. The only plus was clean towels and clean bed linen. We left early as we felt as if we were camping every day.

Very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay. I completely understand your concern around the carpet upstairs - there was a significant leak from the shower just before your visit. We did our best to “make do” and refunded part of your rental but appreciate this wasn’t ideal. There were storms just before your arrival and we were regrettably unable to have the garden tidied up in time. We tried to have this done during your stay but weren’t able to coordinate this successfully. Thankyou for your feedback on the wooden kitchen draining board and other comments. We will certainly look into these.
Best wishes
Tom

Merci Béatrice mille fois pour vos commentaires et pour votre recommandation de Jazz sous les pommiers - à noter pour notre prochaine visite! A Tom & Sophie
