About this property

Waterside, Wiveton, Norfolk

A beautiful, sweet flint fronted detached bungalow set in glorious private gardens, within easy walking distance of two popular coastal villages, the North Norfolk coastal path and an award-winning gastro pub. And it's dog friendly too. Tick, tick, tick!

As soon as you walk into the front door of Waterside you will realise you have made the perfect choice for your holiday. The bungalow is all on one level (although there are steps within the garden) and evokes the feeling of your very own private, welcoming and peaceful country house hotel. Decorated and furnished in a relaxing and sophisticated, low key style, the sociable living areas are spacious, and the four inviting bedrooms (one king, two super-king/twin and a twin) all come dressed in top quality bed linen and have seriously comfortable mattresses. The sitting room is a lovely light-filled room with windows to two sides, french doors to the front garden and a wood burning stove to light on chillier days. The open-plan L-shaped dining kitchen has a very well-equipped kitchen at one end, with full length windows and door leading out to the patio and garden, and dining area at the other where windows also overlook the rear garden. Half way between the two is a separate utility room with a further door to the patio. Waterside is enclosed by an east-west facing garden. The rear garden is where you will want to spend most of your time. Here you can enjoy an outdoor lunch sat on the large curved patio overlooking the spacious lawned area below.

Wiveton is a pretty hamlet of detached houses and cottages, just a mile south of the main coastal road that runs between Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea - both of which are within reasonable walking distance of Waterside. In Cley you will find tea rooms, a couple of galleries, Cley Windmill, where you can have a fabulous meal overlooking the marshes, and there's a super delicatessen to tempt your taste buds, which also sells fruit and veg. Blakeney, the bigger village of the two, has shops, galleries, pubs and The Blakeney Hotel (a must for afternoon tea), a small supermarket and a petrol station. In between the two is Wiveton Hall Cafe, which has made a name for itself on the recent BBC series Normal for Norfolk. So much so, it's now essential to book ahead in the height of summer! The Coasthopper bus services runs regularly along the coast road throughout the year and is a great way of visiting all the other coastal villages without the need to use your car.

Lovely house
This was our second stay. We loved the bungalow and surroundings so much that we decided to visit again. In fact we’ve booked to go back in June. The bungalow is very spacious and beautifully decorated throughout. The beds are very comfortable which makes all the difference when you’re away. Very well equipped. Lovely wrap around garden. Just a mile from Cley and Blackney with lovely walks. A bird watchers heaven. Our only suggestion is that there is only one shower. The bigger bathroom has a huge bath and it’s a shame a shower isn’t in the big bathroom as there is plenty of room. Looking forward to visiting again in June.

Beautiful house in rural surroundings
Second year of staying at Waterside with friends. The house is beautiful and very spacious. Cannot fault anything. We enjoyed the new log burner as it works so well. The local pub/restaurant is our favourite local spot. Many lovely walks around the property, like Cley and Blakeney. Loved exploring Holt too (around 15 minutes drive). We will come back no doubt.

Perfect
We stayed for Christmas and could not have asked for a better place. Location is great for dog walks, garden and frontage very spacious and peaceful. We saw a muntjac in the garden and lots of pheasants! Lounge and kitchen are great spaces to relax in, plenty of room yet very homely and charming. There is nothing I could fault at all and would love to go back.

Wonderful walking
Wonderful quiet village location with walks to Blakeney, Cley village and marshes from the door. Mature secluded gardens with goats next door! Very comfy beds and a stunning oval bath. We were toasty in October and barely needed the woodburner. Highly recommended.

We have had holidays in north Norfolk for the past 10 years and this has been our favourite cottage to date. Excellent location - could not fault!
