Church Cottage is a home full of character, quietly set on a peaceful lane next to Burford’s historic church. With warm Cotswold stone, a large fireplace and beams, the cottage has retained many original features that give it a real sense of historic charm.
Step inside and you’ll find a place full of personality, with vintage treasures and carefully chosen artwork throughout. The kitchen combines traditional features such as wooden worktops, a Belfast sink and an Everhot range cooker, with modern equipment to create a warm, country kitchen which you will enjoy using. In the sitting room, a wood-burning stove is set into the original brick fireplace, perfect for cosy evenings at home. French doors open onto the walled garden, letting in plenty of light and fresh air on warmer days. The dining room also looks out to the walled garden and has French doors to the raised rose terrace, ideal for relaxed meals with the scent of flowers drifting in. Upstairs, three charming bedrooms continue the cottage’s character, each styled with vintage furniture, soft linens, and thoughtful finishing touches.
You can move easily between the sitting room and dining room and the the charming, sheltered garden, which is a sun trap blooming with roses and flowering borders. Dine on the rose terrace with the church views beyond as the old clock bells ring in the hours. There are quiet spots to have your morning coffee and read a book. To the front is an off-road parking space, a rare benefit in this bustling town.
Ground Floor
Entrance hall and cloakroom Step through the red front door into the entrance hall where you can hang up coats and put away walking boots. There is a cloakroom to one side in what was once the old privy with a basin and WC.
Kitchen You will love cooking in this well-equipped kitchen with its Everhot range. The Belfast sink and oak wood worktops give the feel of a traditional cottage kitchen, but with everything you need hidden in cupboards below. There is a full range of plates, glasses, crockery and cooking utensils, with a Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and a dishwasher.
Sitting Room This cosy room is the heart of the cottage, with painted original wooden floorboards and beams, cheerful floral curtains and comfortable seating including two armchairs and a three-seater sofa. An inviting wood-burning stove sits within the original brick fireplace, framed by handmade oak bookcases. This is the perfect place to curl up next to the fire with a book in hand or settle down to watch the smart television, which can be found in the antique pine corner cupboard, along with a DVD player, Bluetooth speaker and a selection of games and puzzles. On warmer evenings, open the French doors to step out into the garden after an evening cup of tea to take in the wonderful views.
Dining Room The six-seater antique dining table ensures plenty of space, and double doors lead from here out to the secluded rose terrace, where alfresco meals can also be enjoyed. Set the table with the pretty early 20th century tableware for meals together and enjoy the stunning views over the church and rose terrace. This is a delightful room where you can linger over long and leisurely meals.
First Floor
Bedroom One The master bedroom has the best view, looking across the rose terrace to the church beyond. Open your windows on a summer evening to let in the floral breeze before snuggling into the king-size bed. Unpack into the two chests of drawers and spend a lazy morning reading a good book, perhaps one you brought with you or one from the selection in the sitting room.
En-suite The en-suite shower room has a walk-in shower, WC, wash basin and handy cubby holes for storage.
Bedroom Two Set up as a children’s bedroom, this room is sure to enchant all ages. There is a pair of comfortable full-size single beds with a large vintage pine chest of drawers between them. A captivating illustration of a rabbit family hangs above, guaranteed to delight young guests, while the original 1930s decorative fireplace and patchwork curtains all add to the appeal of this cheerful twin room.
Bedroom Three With its soft, pastel-coloured decor and comfortable double bed, it’s hard not to feel cosy in this charming bedroom beneath the sloping ceiling. There’s plenty of space and storage, with two bedside tables with drawers, a lovely vintage pine chest of drawers, and a small hanging cupboard. This bedroom offers good views over the gardens and rooftops of old Burford.
Bathroom The vintage aesthetic continues in the bathroom with an original 1930’s bathtub, hand-held shower, WC and basin.
Outside
Hidden behind Church Cottage is the most wonderful garden offering privacy and seclusion, a rarity for Burford cottages. The garden is in two parts, the walled garden with a lawn for children to play on, shrubs and flowering borders and the rose terrace, with gorgeous roses climbing up the sheltering walls and an apple tree as old as the house, covered with a climbing clematis. This is an idyllic place to relax, read, or listen to the church bells striking the hours. On the rose terrace outside the dining room there is a wooden dining table and six chairs. Take meals here or bring a BBQ to make the most of your time outside.

We had a wonderful stay at Church Cottage. It was very comfortable for our family of four and perfectly located for exploring all the Cotswolds highlights. The cottage was clean, well appointed, and exactly as described on the site. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We ’d happily recommend it to others.

Weekend break
We spent a lovely weekend in Burford and Church Cottage was a delightful place to stay. Ideally situated, in a quiet area. Lots of restaurants, cafes and independent shops on your doorstep. So much to see in the Cotswolds.
The cottage is perfectly located in town but on a quiet side street next to a beautiful church. The house is in great condition with attention to detail. We had a wonderful stay and will be back!

Great location for short stay in Cotswolds
This is a lovely cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds with 1930s evocative styling and sheltered garden to enjoy the summer sun. Good provision of equipment and everything we needed to help celebrate our son's wedding.

A great stay in Burford
Church Cottage proved to be ideal for a comfortable and relaxing break in Burford. The cottage is perfectly located very close to the centre of Burford, but in a peaceful position away from the busy main high street and next to the impressive St John the Baptist Church. We would certainly look to return in the future.

Quaint Cottage in Central Burford
We spent 4 nights at Church Cottage while visiting to attend a wedding. The cottage is in a great location off High Street and is well equipped for a group of up to 6 people. Beds were comfortable with nice living and dining areas. Kitchen is well equipped with all the amenities needed for our group. Parking in private driveway was a bonus as parking in Burford is challenging. Garden was a beautiful place to relax. Communication with our hosts was faultless and made for a great stay.
Gorgeous cottage in a perfect location. Church Cottage had everything we needed for a short stay however with its fully equipped kitchen and spacious dining and sitting rooms we could easily have stayed longer!!Conveniently located just off the high street and near the church it’s perfect for a quick stroll to all that Burford has to offer. Parking for 2 family cars on the drive is tight but lots of free parking nearby so no issue. Only other word of warning is that the stairs up to the bedrooms are steep so maybe not ideal for v young children or oldies!!Otherwise couldn’t fault this Cotswold gem. Thanks for having us.

Extended Break
We stayed for just over 3wks and a fell in love with the cottage which was ideal for our needs. Small but perfectly formed, its three bedrooms were very comfortable. The downstairs rooms worked well for us - especially the sitting room which, due to the double aspect, was as flooded with natural light all day. The French windows in both reception rooms allow a seamless link to the rear garden and side terrace. Having an on-site private parking space is a real boon in Burford. The owners were kind and helpful once our booking was confirmed, and the housekeeper brilliant during our stay. All-in-all, Church Cottage is the perfect bolthole for anyone wanting an independent stay in what we think is the best town in The Cotswolds.

Beautiful Cottage and Convenient Location
We enjoyed a week at Church Cottage in Burford and delighted in the cosy cottage, fantastic secluded garden and convenience to Burford High Street. Be aware of steep staircase, that was our only concern. It is located right beside St. John the Baptist Church with fascinating history and great Cafe 15 in Warwick Hall.
Church cottage was extremely comfortable. We loved staying in it. Just a short distance to shops and church on Sunday. Surrounding countryside was beautiful. Would definitely stay there again. Housekeepers were great! Thanks for the memories we have from our time there.
Property is just as advertised - everything is provided and we were made very welcome - the area from the Church at the end of the lane to the village and the Cotswolds beyond affords visitors a beautiful slice of England - enjoy, as we did!
A beautiful cottage full of period features and plenty of character, Church Cottage was the ideal location for a reunion of friends. Burford has plenty to offer and the cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Church Cottage is ideally situated on a quiet lane right next to the Church and only moments from the shops on the High Street. Very well furnished with thoughtful extras such as a bluetooth speaker we could use in the garden. Very highly recommended.

June stay
We stayed at Church Cottage with our children and had a wonderful time. It is very comfortable, well equipped and exceptionally well located. While within minutes from the Hill, Burford’s bustling high street, it is very quiet and the view of the church is beautiful and soothing. Burford is easily the prettiest Cotswold village and a perfect starting point for exploring the area. Our hosts were very thoughtful and provided excellent tips for places to visit and where to eat. Overall a memorable stay that we hope to repeat soon and highly recommend to anyone!
