About this property
Comfy North Cornwall home with stunning views down rural valley and out to sea.
**Please note that due to cleaning availability Summer bookings need to normally be Sunday to Sunday, but you are welcome to send an inquiry and we may be able to accommodate** Trevalsea has three double bedrooms and comfortably sleeps six people. It is ideal for families but also suits a couple or friends wishing to spend a peaceful holiday but be within easy reach of Cornwall's many attractions. With the exception of a downstairs double bedroom (bunk beds and a convertible sofa) and WC, all the accommodation is on one level and consists of a kitchen, bathroom with separate WC, a separate shower unit, living room and two further double bedrooms (one double, one twin). All bedrooms have hand basins. There is a balcony accessed from the living room, which offers spectacular views of the valley and out to sea. Outside, there is a paved patio and access to the sloping garden. The house has sufficient night storage heaters to ensure a cozy visit at any time of year. Linen is provided and all beds will be made up for arrival. There is off road parking at the front of the property and further parking across the road. Electricity and WiFi is included in the rental charge
Trevalsea has been a family holiday home for many years, and we very much welcome visitors both new and old. The house has numerous books, maps and leaflets about things to do, places to visit and places to eat. Two large scale walking maps of the area are pinned up in the hallway.
Five favourite local things to do -
Walk along the beach at Trebarwith Strand, if you are lucky with a good low spring tide there is over half a mile of beach to stroll and life guarded swimming areas in the season. Children and adults can be kept amused for hours.
High tide and a rough sea? Then watch the waves crashing on to the rocks or retreat inside the Port William, probably the best situated pub in Cornwall, for a cold or warm beverage and watch.
Trebarwith too busy? Walk to Backways Cove just over the hill and normally have this tranquil valley and rocky cove all to yourselves.
Walk part of the North Cornwall coast path, just pick a section. Trebarwith to Tintagel is great, or for a real work out, Trebarwith to Portgaverne, only 5 miles but 6 valleys to descend into and climb back out of on the way. Allow 4 hours for this one, but it really is spectacular and there is no other road down to the coast until you get to Portgaverne.
After a busy day or just because you deserve it, relax on the balcony with a drink or a meal enjoying the beautiful view, the peace and a sunset.

A comfortable and well equipped base for our holiday providing everything we needed for a family break.
The location and views from the bedrooms and balcony are gorgeous and a lovely garden to explore as well.
Trebarwith Strand is well worth a visit and is a hidden gem of a beach and only a mile or so from the cottage.
We loved staying at this property. The views are beautiful. It is a great location to visit the West and North Cornwall. It was surprisingly spacious and clean.
Only improvement to suggest would be to get a shower or shower head in the bathroom as it is impossible to shower with any privacy in the landing.
The property was in a great area for us to explore the surrounding areas. We had great weather and was able to go out every day so the property was used as a base. Property itself has some quirky features (shower in the hallway, radiators), but the balcony overlooking the valley compensates the quirky features. Bedding was fresh and clean and kitchen fully equipped. Heating Was slightly confusing and never really understood how to work the old radiators and luckily had some electric oil filled radiators to use. Overall, throughly enjoyed our stay.

Good and not so good
We loved what we saw looking throughout the windows of this house. No tv needed, just look outside. Cornwall is beautiful, there are a lot of nice things to do and places to visit. You do not have to go very far away! That was the good part.
The house wasn’t clean, there even wasn’t a table good for five persons tot eat at.
Lovely property with space for family and dogs . All amenities supplied and easy to have as a base to explore beautiful north Cornwall .
Older interior but clean . Boys loved the lower bedroom like their own apartment
( 2 teens) ! Main bedroom great and other room twin beds with a view .
Lovely balcony . Garden not secure so be careful with dogs & possibly keep on a Lead . Didn’t use the patio.
Parking was fine .
Great host communication

Disappointed
Nice location. Property smelled musty and damp, causing wheezing for children so they needed to use emergency inhaler. Downstairs room smelled so mouldy that wouldnt go away with airing & heating, that we ended up having kids sleeping on sofa an floor of living room.Made holiday difficult as there was no rooom for adults to spend time after kids bedtime.Hoover of property smelled terrible of pet hair, so couldn't use it. Host offered good willl gesture, but money hasnot arrived yet.
Danke!
The cleaners could do a better job, but other wise ot was great! Kitchen well equipped, cosy and homely, felt very safe and the beds were very comfortable. Will definitely stay again or refer a friend!
The property was comfortable and well laid out with a very quirky shower!
Beautiful views over the valley out to sea. Very close to Tintagel with plenty of eateries there.
The parking space out front was a wee bit on the steep side but it's easy enough to park opposite the house on a more level parking.
In all it was a great place to stay and we'd come back again.
We had a lovely time stating here. Host was really nice. It was clean, homely and well equipped. The views are magnificent. The main thing for us was the location. You can walk down to Trebarwith Strand, which is a really fantastic family beach (check the tides) and also to Delabole or Tintagel for something to eat or the pub. The cliff walks close by are fantastic. The only thing I would note to others is that whilst the rental is dog friendly, there is no secure garden area to let them out to.
Travelsea house itself is quite dated inside, it is bigger than we thought though. The children (5,7,11) loved the bunk beds downstairs and great to have the extra bed there as all 3 could be in their “den”. We slept in the back bedroom on the main floor and pushed the twin beds together , mas the selling point of this house is the view and balcony ! It’s stunning looking out to sea and across the valley, with the sun on the balcony making it a real sunbathing area/ eating at sundown. It’s a shame there isn’t any garden furniture on the balcony , as we had to use old deck chairs we found and move the dining table in and out. There is a long hilly garden but we didn’t use this. Next door has developed their garden ( and house ) with decking/bbq and play area for the children which would have been good.
The kitchen is very basic but has everything you need except a dishwasher as it’s too small. The strangest thing is the shower is literally in the middle of the hallway, fine for us being one family but not much privacy if sharing with others! It would have been good to have had a shower over the bath as well to help the washing the littler children, but they managed the shower and found it an experience!
Location was great , very pretty and easy to access all the local areas- Trebarwith Strand ( note tide times if you want the beach ) Port Isaac, Polzeath ( great for beginner body boarding /surfing) , Padstow etc. Great cafe in Camelford “Four Seasons” for Milkshakes/cakes / scones/ full English etc - we went for my daughter’s birthday breakfast, before heading to Camel Creek Theme park.
We loved watching the waves crash on the rocks at sundown from The Port William pub with a drink in hand.
Overall we had a lovely holiday, Travelsea itself could do with some updating but as a base it was fine and the balcony and view is the best part for sure. We will miss Cornwall and all it offers now we are back home!
Property was lovely, quite quirky, but we like that. It's a little off the beaten track, however, we don't mind travelling around to beaches, and found some beauties. This house is a home from home, cosy, comfortable, well presented, and generally lovely. We will definately go back.
The property' is in a good location and boasts spectacular sea views from the rear of the house. There is a steep, pretty garden and a spacious balcony for enjoying the evening sunshine. The living space is comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. We used the top half of the house..
We had a wonderful break, the property is perfect to explore the surrounding area. Lots to visit and plenty to do. The property is clean and beautifully presented, and Mike the owner is very speedy in responding to requests. The view from the balcony is fabulous. Highly recommended :)
We stayed for a week and really enjoyed our holiday.
There was everything you needed in the kitchen, comfy seats, nice airy rooms, and a breathtaking view.
The host was very helpful and responsive to any queries.
We would not hesitate to stay again.
The shower is in a quirky position, and it has lots of eclectic little pieces of art.
We liked it very much.
Garden is fab and on a steep slope.
There is a little terrace by the back door which was a nice place to sit on a step for a coffee.
View from the twin bedroom window is fantastic too.
Thank you very much x
We had a really lovely getaway, the cottage is in a lovely position with a wonderful view down the valley to Trebarwith Strand. It’s a great location to easily visit lots of lovely places locally (Boscastle, Widemouth Bay, Port Isaac, Polzeath and more!) We had everything we needed and the owner was very clear and accommodating in his communications. Would love to go back soon!
The cottage was well equipped and had the added bonus of a stunning view that could be enjoyed from the balcony that went from one bedroom along to the sitting room that had sliding doors.
The property wasn't quite ready for us but we went off and had a meal at the seaside until it was ready. Nicely decorated, very clean. Mike, the owner, kept great communication with us and was available all during the week. The shower could do with a little more power, or an overhaul, other than that the views were spectacular both during the day and evening. A lovely place to come back to after long days visiting the local attractions. Thanks.
