GLACIER GLAMPING! STEPS FROM THE POLEBRIDGE MERCANTILE!
Cradled between the Continental Divide and the Whitefish Mountain Range just one mile from the northwest entrance to Glacier National Park is the electricity-free community of Polebridge. Made up of a handful of houses, cabins, a hostel and small ranches along the North Fork Road, the hub of this area is the historic Polebridge Mercantile and its neighboring Northern Lights Saloon—both powered by generators and solar panels (seasonal hours). "The Merc" is a one stop shop for locals and visitors alike and is famous throughout the state and region for its freshly baked goods, sandwiches and authentic personality. Just a stone's throw from the Wild & Scenic North Fork Flathead River you'll find our quaint "Cutthroat Cabin" is the ideal location for those looking to get away from it all or a launching point for your next Glacier National Park adventure. Here you'll find access to unlimited outdoor recreation from fly fishing to hiking to wildlife viewing and more, all the while enjoying the amazing views of the surrounding Northern and Canadian Rockies. The Cutthroat Cabin, named for NW Montana's native westslope cutthroat trout, is rustic, clean and comfortable with propane lights, oven and range, a hand-pump well in the kitchen and an antique wood burning stove. The bathroom is an outhouse. There is no electricity, the cabin is lit by propane wall sconces and portable propane and battery powered lanterns. There is no cell service or internet access. There is a public computer at the Mercantile and Wi-Fi available at nearby Home Ranch Bottoms. Quite possibly the cutest little outhouse in Polebridge too!

Loved the seclusion of this sweet little cabin, with easy access to all the North Fork offers. Highly recommend. Would stay sgain given the opportunity. Don’t miss live music at Hkme Ranch Bottoms and a meal at Northern Lights Saloon. One day just got pizza at the merc to eat at the cabin. Had a wonderful time exploring with our Jeeps and kayaking the mountain lakes.

We enjoyed our stay at Polebridge which hosted a saloon, mercantile, playground and a number of small homesteads. The store offered homemade baked goods with basic supplies and served as a fun destination for our kids.*get a deal if you buy a dozen cookiesThe saloon had great drinks and free access to water through the day. With walkie talkies in hand (and 10) I was able to let my kids go for the day to enjoy a tech free independent experience. The location was 2 miles from upper west glacier with access via gravel road to two lakes. We were able to take north fork road to camas road to access the main areas of west glacier. (These areas are typically connected within the park but this summer part of the road was closed). Our hosts were extremely communicative and helpful. They were quick to reply and went out of their way to support us whenever they could.
Our family had the most incredible stay at this cozy off-grid cabin in Polebridge. It was the perfect peaceful retreat to truly disconnect from the busy world and reconnect with each other and nature. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and charming—just what we needed. Mornings were spent walking to the nearby Polebridge Mercantile for fresh coffee and baked goods while the kids played on the local playground. It felt like stepping back in time in the best way possible. We used the cabin as our home base while exploring Glacier National Park. We spent our days paddleboarding on Lake McDonald, visiting waterfalls, strolling through Apgar Village, and driving part of Going-to-the-Sun Road up to Logan Pass. The views were absolutely breathtaking. Each night, it was such a comfort to return to our quiet, cozy cabin and enjoy quality family time without distractions. This place offered exactly the kind of rest and reconnection we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be back!
Had a wonderful 3 nights at Cutt Throat Cabin.
Wonderful weather - enjoy some sweets and drinks at northern lights and Home Ranch Bottoms! Exactly as we expected from the VRBO listing.
Thanks for a great get away!!
My kids and I loved the location of the cabin. It's very rustic, which was exactly what we were looking for. We had a great two days enjoying the quiet solitude of the area.
Wonderful stay with family! Hope our next stay is a bit longer. Beautiful area and hikes at Bowman and Kintla were superb. Very relaxing off the grid vacation.
We had a great week at this cabin! It's well stocked and comfortable beds while still experiencing a "camping" experience. The host is very responsive and it was a great experience overall!
We had a wonderful second stay at the Cutthroat Cabin. We love getting away enjoying one another in a cozy cabin. We have three teenage boys and it is so nice to be together to take walks to get treats at the Merc, hike, play games, sit by the campfire and even some volleyball at the Marc without the everyday distractions. Cabin is just as presented in the description and what you would expect for off grid! Thanks again!
We had a wonderful time at the Cutthroat Cabin! The owners were extremely responsive to questions leading up to our visit and accommodating with slight date changes! We hope to return!
Owner was very detailed about check-in and the supplies that were on hand. It was a little like living as the frontier people, except having propane. Enjoyed our stay!
