Bird lovers and nature lovers will adore Noarlunga. It is located in a 50+ acre area of bush which is full of wildlife and jbirds. Right next door is the Coastal Reserve National Park which extends all along the deserted shoreline to the national park at Wilson's Promontory. We plan to maintain all this acreage as a nature reserve in perpetuity and by coming to stay at Noarlunga you are helping us in this endeavour. Look at the location in Google Earth and you will see just how vital it is to protect this unique piece of remnant bushland.
The entrance to Winkarlin Beach is less than 100 meters from the driveway of Noarlunga. The intertidal zone can be wet but once you reach the beach it is safe and sandy. At high tide go for a swim and at low tide go fishing off the 'flat rock'. Noarlunga means 'fishing place' in the aboriginal Kuarna language and there are a number of good fishing spots close by.
If you prefer to stay close to home, you can watch wombats, echidnas and other animals come to the back garden pond for a drink and a dip. We have a list of over 100 species of birds that can be seen at or around Noarlunga.
You will be treading lightly at Noarlunga as all the electricity is off grid - solar powered. However this means you do need to be prepared to do without a microwave and TV! The kitchen is equipped with a gas cooker, solar powered fridge and the necessary pots and pans.
Two comfortable queen bedrooms are provided, each with its own ensuite shower. In addition there is a newly renovated central bathroom, a dining area, family room, living room with a gas fire, and a third bedroom with bunks which can accommodate one or two children. What makes Noarlunga a cozy house in the cooler months is a fine wood burning stove located in the central family room.
At night try turning out the lights and looking at the stars! You will be amazed by what you can see once you have left all the towns behind.
If you want the excitement of surfing it is only a 20 minute drive to the terrific beaches at Waratah Bay or the patrolled beach at Sandy Point. Alternatively, you can explore the quieter beaches of Corner Inlet where you are much more likely to meet Black Swans than people.
Corner Inlet is the most easterly, and consequently the warmest, of Victoria's large bays. It has a complex network of beaches, mangroves, saltmarsh, mud banks, seagrass beds, rocky islands and deeper channels. Corner Inlet supports huge numbers of migratory water birds and healthy populations of seafloor animals and plants that are rare or absent elsewhere in Victoria. For more details check out the Parks Victoria website.
Click on the Satellite option on the map to see the Winkarlin bush island and how it connects to the Coastal Reserve. The last part of the drive to Noarlunga is along dirt roads but they are not a problem for regular cars so long as you drive a bit more slowly.
During the warmer months you may see snakes around and about but if you give them some space they are quick to leave. Mosquitos and sandflies can be a bother so it is wise to bring bug spray to discourage them.

We enjoyed the time away from people, watching the wildlife and exploring the bush around the house. The house is well equipped and spacious and Louisa was a helpful and responsive host.
Beautiful off-grid house, close to Wilson's Prom as well as it's own little slice of nature. Hosts are doing a great job to regenerate and preserve the surrounding bush land and were very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Newly renovated bathrooms were beautiful. We had a lovely stay. Thank you!
The property is lovely, with beautiful stained glass windows in some of the bedrooms. The bathrooms have been really nicely renovated. Louisa was great to communicate and gave some really great info about the area, which we went to discover, which was really fun as we saw a wallaby and a lot of wombats in the evening! Louisa clearly cares and puts a lot of dedication in her property and it makes for a wonderful getaway. The proximity to the Prom was great!

This place is amazing! We all loved it so much. The local black swans was a real treat. We will be back. Thank you.
Easy access to the Prom and other surrounds. A proper escape with enough of the necessities (but not too many) which is perfect for those needing a break from the hustle and bustle of life as we know it.
Fantastic experience. Noarlunga is well-kept, easily spacious enough for 4 adults and in a great area reasonably close to the Prom. Louisa was incredibly communicative, sending us plenty of helpful advice about the property and the area. Absolutely recommend.
Accurately listed property, ideally located to get in and off prom park day trips. Location super tranquil, private bedrooms with bathrooms great. Kitchen stocked with everything you need cooking / food prep wise you need for a simple, no fuss get away. Back veranda proved the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a refreshing beverage in the afternoon sun amongst the bush. Would recommend- and will be back.
This property is exactly as described. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here. Morning coffee on the front porch, cocktails on the back listening to birdsong, and a hike at Wilson’s prom in between. Very clean and nicely appointed. We would def. stay here again. Louisa was a pleasure to communicate with.
Let's face it, many places that advertise as being private are not truly private. This one is. It was great to experience the sounds and sights of nature without the constant buzzing of the city. The house had everything we needed and despite it being off the grid we had no problems with power or hot water
This was a great tools down for our whole family. It was wild weather while we were here so walking on the beach in the wind and getting muddy on the tidal flat was a great way to spend the day, then we curled up in front of the fire place. Look out, the hot water doesn't quite keep up on cloudy days but otherwise no problems. Enjoyed a book on the back verandah watching the spinebills in the grevillea and hakeas.
Comfortable, well-appointed, charming. Great communications with owner. If you’re looking for a great place to get away from it all, but with all the creature comforts, this is it. This house is located in a quiet bushland pocket about 10 minutes from Yanakie, providing easy access to the Wilson’s Prom National Park. The owner made it very clear that this off-grid home has no TV or microwave. The battery/solar power and gas were abundant for our needs, and there’s a great book and game library. Honestly, we 4 friends laughed and had so much fun, played games and loved sitting by the fire. The stained and painted glass panel were delightful, and complement the newly renovated and stylish bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas. There are two large bedroom each with ensuite, a separate bathroom area, third bedroom with bunks, two living areas, and front and rear decks (the latter with bbq).Absolutely recommend this place!
The description was just as it was, right off the beaten track in a remote location. The house had plenty of space and we appreciated the logs provided by Louisa for the wood burning stove in the living room. Communication with Louisa was easy and she was very prompt to reply. It was very convenient for visiting Wilson’s Prom which we did every day as walks in the park were as you would expect much better than walks from the house.
The property owner, Louisa, was very informative, friendly and prompt with communication. The house was comfortable and had all we needed and also plenty of books and games.
Nothing fancy but a great escape to an amazing part of the world. The walk to the bay/inlet is breathtaking. Sitting on the beach with no people, no noise, no cars just pure peace. The black swans were a highlight here. The house itself was cozy and warm with the wood heater putting out ample heat. The only downer was the bed mattress was too hard for me so I ended up on the couch by the third night. A soft mattress topper would be great :)
Great and convenient location for exploring the prom.
Easy and quick check in process. House is well kept.
Semi remote location makes it quiet and peaceful at night times. Close to the national parks makes planning hikes convenient.
We didn't know what to expect because we've never lived off grid before. We had such a wonderful and restful time alone with nature and regretted not staying longer. The ambience of the environment was healing - the noise we could hear was only wild birds. The house is full of charm from the beginning of previous century. While there we wanted to know more about the history of the place and the communication was outstanding as we got immediate and detailed information back from the owners! Loved the fact that we didn't have TV there which compelled us to connect and play games as a family unit! We will be back!
Beautiful place, two wallabies in the garden were waiting to welcome us. The house is very neat and the ideal place for a relaxing weekend.

Why they chose this property
We bought Noarlunga as we were determined to protect this unique bush island. It was a challenge to renovate but we added two ensuites and installed an off-grid solar power system to make it suitable for visitors.
What makes this property unique
A very private location on the shores of Corner Inlet only a 20 minute drive to the Prom park gate.
