Tathra Beach Shack/Character & Magic Views

Tathra Beach Shack is one of Tathra's original cottages and is located on the southern headland overlooking Tathra beach. The cottage oozes character with original timber floorboards throughout the living area and original fireplace to keep you snug at night.

Two of the three bedrooms have queen beds and have views directly over the beach. The third bedroom has two single beds. The main bedroom is a large expansive room with ensuit and TV.

The cottage has a wonderful sundeck connecting to the living room that oozes sunshine and looks directly over the beach with a BBQ.

Surrounded by bush it offers plenty of privacy and boasts uninterrupted views over the beach making it the ideal location for a holiday by the sea.

Tathra Area/Things to do

Tathra is spoiled with National Parks and reserves, beautiful beaches, pristine estuaries and rivers. Pick your water sport - river and deep sea fishing, kayaking, surfing or simply chill out on the beautiful Tathra beach which is a short stroll down the steps from the house.

The National parks offer safe swimming lagoons, picnic areas and bushwalking tracks to cater for all levels of fitness. Relax and enjoy a coffee at the Tathra Wharf cafe - the wharf is one of the only heritage listed shipping wharves on the Eastern Coast of Australia. For your evenings entertainment there are a number of good restaurants in the area and why not finish the evening off with some live music and drinks in the local Tathra Hotel. If you are there on a Friday you might even win the crab races !!!!

A very short stroll down the steps to the beach, shops and Bowling Club. Very short stroll up the hill to the Hotel, supermarket, Post Office, and Newsagent.

Merimbula with an airport is only 25 minutes away with cinema and plenty of shops to get your retail therapy!!

Step back in time

We had a great time at the beach shack. This is truly a unique property and I feel very priviledged to have had the opportunity to stay here. The period features of the house are beautiful, and I don't think anyone could get tired of the view. It was the perfect place for us and our dogs to get away for a week. We will be back!

Original family shack

Loved this place and would definitely stay again. Just remember that it’s an original beach shack (the way they used to be) so don’t expect all the mod cons! Still has everything you’d need.

The shack is a shack - an older home but very comfortable and in an amazing location. So close to the beach and village. Host is very quick to get back to you and communication through our stay was very welcoming - tips and advice. Overall fabulous place to stay particularly with our dogs. Host, very relaxed. The name is perfect, it truly is a beach shack, full of character. The location is amazing and access to the beach quick & easy. The owners are so friendly & helpful too. If you’re after modern, this place is not for you. We look forward to another visit one day.

Rodent infestation and serious hygiene issues.

We really wanted to love this place, but had some MAJOR hygiene issues throughout our stay. The cleanliness of the place upon arrival was abysmal. There were mouse droppings throughout the kitchen cupboards and over all the cutlery, crockery and drinking mugs. When we went to make up the bed, there was a significant amount of mouse poo under the pillows and on top of the mattress. Our toddler was woken frequently throughout the week as it was likely a mouse was running over her in her sleep. We had to set traps and every morning deal with what we found. Additionally, there were a number of other cleanliness issues (bats inside the house and inappropriate things left lying around by the previous guest) and we ended up having to throw out a large portion of our dry food due to these unhygienic conditions.We were very disappointed with the communication we received from the hosts and had to justify a number of times as to why we were upset. During the stay, they refunded less than 10% of the overall fee but did not compensate for our food losses.Had we not had these issues, it would have been a pleasant stay. The location is superb and the house functional - but this was a very disappointing and frustrating situation to have to deal with on our holiday.

Old school family beach shack

We had a fabulous time staying here. It’s not flash and nor does it pretend to be. Instead it’s perfect for a comfortable, relaxed holiday with no need to worry if the kids touch things or are loud or the dogs sit on the couch. With amazing views and convenience to both the beach, local shops and the headland you couldn’t ask for a better location in Tathra. Great communication from the owners too. We would love to return again next year.

Away among the gumtrees

A great view of the beach only a two minute walk to the surf club or bottle shop. Very cosy and comfortable great attmosphere everything we could want. Bowling club great food. Golf club great. Walking fishing swimming all on offer Thanks John & Kerry

Cosy beach shack in perfect location

We loved our stay at the Tathra Beach Shack! So much character and so close to the beach and with the most amazing views. It has everything you need and the beds are very comfortable too. Best sleeps overlooking the ocean while listening to the waves. The owners Kerry and John are very helpful and easy to communicate with. We arrived late and Kerry waited for us to make sure we find the place in the dark and greeted us with fresh eggs from her chickens and herbs from her garden. We really appreciated that we could bring our dog and he was not only tolerated but most welcomed! Thank you Kerry and John, we will be back!
