Well appointed home (even took pictures for my renovations for my home). The pool is lovely with all kinds of accessories (lounger, floats, etc.). Great location as the stores and Starbucks are within walking distance and downtown is a few miles away.

Home base for Joshua Tree visit

Lots of room, lots of light. Everything we needed or wanted. Great decor. Tons of towels and blankets. Wanted for nothing.

I spent two weeks at The Red House in March, 2026. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Everything was clean and comfortable. The pool, which we paid extra to heat, is excellent. The photos of the home and interior are accurate. We only used the master bedroom; the bed was comfortable. The master bedroom does not have a closet usable for guests. Although we only did a bit of cooking, our only minor complaint is that the cookware needs to be replaced. The single non-stick skillet has surface wear, and should be tossed. We used the grill for most dinners, but even attempting to scramble eggs in the morning, everything stuck to the cookware. We had two issues during the stay in which we had to call the property manager: the oven was malfunctioning, and a smoke alarm malfunctioned. The response was quick and helpful (although the oven wasn't really fixed). The closest grocery store, Ralph's, is about a mile away. There is really nothing within walking distance of the home, so consider your activities and the required transportation. The first week of our stay the weather was comfortable, so we even walked the distance to the downtown area several times (although I would not recommend doing this after dark). The second week was unseasonably hot, so we made considerable use of Lyft, which ended up being much more cost effective than renting a car.All in all, a pleasant stay, and a highly recommended experience.

The Red House

This was a very fine rental property and we enjoyed our time there. A couple of suggestions: 1.) the pots in the kitchen did not have covers. This makes cooking difficult. 2.) a non-stick frying pan in the kitchen would be a very easy and improved addition to the kitchen for almost any type of meal. 3.) the mattress in the master bedroom is uncomfortable. An upgrade to a tempor-pedic mattress, similar to the other bedrooms, would be welcome.
