About this property
STUNNING LUXURY ESTATE IN THE EXCLUSIVE MESA AREA OF PALM SPRINGS
TOT #7086, City ID #: 3420
Beautifully restored, multi-million dollar, 1922 Spanish Colonial home, with one of the prettiest gardens in Palm Springs, walled and gated for privacy. Celebrity Pedigree. 20' x 40' salt water pool, heated upon request at an additional fee. Covered dining pavilion. Mountain views. Beds K, Q, Other.
The homeowners are world travellers, who lovingly restored this hacienda-style home to reflect the rich Palm Springs lifestyle that first captured the attention of Hollywood's elite. Local lore says leading lady Lana Turner, MGM's "Sweater Girl," often retreated to this private estate between filming such block busters as The Postman Always Rings Twice, Imitation of Life and Peyton Place.
The recent renovation preserved the original 1920s architecture while upgrading this property for the way we live today: new kitchen and baths, three flat screen TVs, wireless internet, updated climate control and all the other modern conveniences have been seamlessly woven into the existing architecture - creating a luxury retreat that looks as though it were ripped from the pages of a design magazine
THE GROUNDS
Casa de Lana rests on a large triple lot in the quiet south Palm Springs neighbourhood known as The Mesa. This private estate features lush manicured gardens, towering palm trees, rolling green lawns and an oversized sun swept pool surrounded by chaise lounges, shade umbrellas, patios and a gazebo that is perfect for al fresco dining.
THE INTERIOR LIVING SPACES
The design of this private enclave rests on its rambling floor plan, large gathering spaces, high ceilings, exquisite architectural elements and carefully curated art and furnishings. Once through the massive hand-carved double door entry - you'll be in the grand foyer - created for warm hellos and long good-byes as guests come and go.
The main parlour is ideal for gathering with your group. The combination of saltillo tile, rich textiles, arched doorways, high ceilings and exposed wood beams set the sophisticated yet relaxed tone of the house. An eclectic mix of carefully chosen sofas and occasional chairs surround the open hearth fireplace. Tickle the ivories on the upright piano or spend time binge watching your favourite shows on the large flat screen Smart Television that has been secreted away in an antique cabinet. Through the formal dining room you'll find a modern take on the familiar farm house kitchen. Bead board cabinetry, fabulous accent tile, gleaming quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances including a deluxe gas range with a double oven and grill top. The enclosed all-season portico has been outfitted with a desk - creating a quiet work space away from the main living areas. There is also a den with a convertible sofa and adjacent bath - perfect for the occasional overflow guests.
THE SLEEPING QUARTERS
Like an upscale boutique hotel, the sleeping quarters at Casa de Lana offer an understated yet luxurious vibe. Both bedrooms have hospitality-quality mattresses, ample storage and Smart Televisions. One bedroom has a King-bed and ensuite bath while the other has a Queen bed and easy access to the adjoining hall bath. The the den converts to a third bedroom with its own ensuite bath, closet and Queen-sized sofa sleeper.
THE LOCATION
Casa de Lana is just a one mile stroll to the world famous Palm Canyon Drive where it intersects the newly revitalized South Palm Springs (SOPS) entertainment district. Night clubs, cabarets, fine dining and casual eateries dot the area. The best bar in Palm Springs, Seymours is just at the end of the road. You'll also be very close to grocery stores, coffee houses and other conveniences. Driving is optional. This part of town is serviced by a responsive Uber network and is in walking distance to a few stops for The Buzz - the city's free trolley service.
OPTIONAL CONCIERGE SERVICES
Mid-stay Maid Service, Private Chef, Pre-arrival grocery stocking and poolside massage can be arranged with sufficient advanced notice.

About the host
Hosted by Kyle Verwers

My husband and I are in the music industry and live between London and Palm Springs. We've been coming out to the desert for about 15 years, to relax and recharge. The desert is a very healing place and hope you'll enjoy our home and the desert as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property after attending an open house weekend and fell in love with it as soon as we saw the garden and walked through the front door. There is a great energy about this place. The Mesa is a very exclusive and private neighbourhood and was one of the playgrounds of the Rat Pack. It is still a celebrity enclave and you can feel the history...
What makes this property unique
Privacy, A 40' saltwater pool, a beautiful yard and lots of outdoor entertaining space. Casa de Lana is one of Palm Springs original homes.
