It was a lovely escape to the country.

The facilities were very good, it was private and I enjoyed my stay. My dog Frankie loved the early morning walks. I loved the calves running over to say hello. A very comfortable home away from home.

Home Away From Home

Fabulous little cottage with everything you need to enjoy a magical and comfortable stay. The hotel quality mattress and crisp white sheets were a real treat. Winn is lovely and very accommodating. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time and very wet underfoot so couldn't enjoy the outdoors at all.

Total relaxation

We loved our recent stay at Winn & Roger's little cottage. The view from the verandah was spectacular looking out over the distant hills. We spent a couple of afternoons out in the winter sun each afternoon with aperitifs watching our 2 golden retrievers stand guard against the inquisitive cows. The cottage has everything you need and it was great to have 2 bathrooms. East Gresford is not far away and we recommend the butcher there. No need to bring all your food as we did.

We really enjoyed our short stay at this beautiful place. It was a perfect escape from busy Sydney, relaxing and peaceful. Our two Aussie Shepherds loved it too. Host made sure we have everything we need and shared some local knowledge about the area. Lots to explore and see, but nice to come back to the property at watch the sunset too. Already planning another trip!

A short but so sweet stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at The Wattle. Such a peaceful location with a beautiful open view across the country lands to mountain ranges. The accommodation has absolutely everything needed, was cosy, comfortable and we loved the country styling decor. It was wonderful to have our puppies with us and they just had a wonderful visit. Many thanks Winn for your hospitality. Our stay was everything we hoped it to be.

I have lived in the Hunter Valley all my life and have spent time travelling overseas in Europe, United States and the Pacific Islands.
Have been working in the Hospitality and wine Industry for over 28 years and love spending time with people from all over the world!
Along with my husband Roger and son James ( Pictured with the family pooch "Ellie"at a local winery having a day out), we own and live on the rural cattle grazing property, where the cosy - self catering "The Wattle Lodge" is located, in the Glendon Brook district,Hunter Valley, NSW.
I enjoy travelling, good food & wine and love animals.

Why they chose this property

The Wattle Lodge- Est 2013, is on our rural cattle grazing property which has been passed down through generations by the Drinan family since 1856 and purchased when they left Ringabella, County Cork, Ireland to come to Australia.

What makes this property unique

The Lodge was custom built to give guests a tranquil country escape experience.
The views of the countryside are amazing and relaxing on the front deck can take all yours cares away looking at the view and the wonderful starry nights!
