About this property
maggies beachhouse Goolwa Beach
Maggies beachhouse is a two-storey house, 500m from Goolwa Beach.
We have a large front deck with sea views, including views of Newland Head, West Island and The Bluff. There is a dining setting on the front deck and a number of deck chairs to while away some hours. It's a perfect spot to catch a stunning sunset. There is also a sunny back deck, cosy for morning coffee. The house has two living areas, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and three toilets.
Upstairs there is a large open living area with lounge, kitchen and dining. There is an upstairs toilet for general use. The main bedroom is also upstairs and has a king-size bed and an ensuite. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, blender, toasted sandwich-maker, many cooking utensils and other necessities (lots of glasses, cocktail shaker, baking trays, cake tins, jelly moulds, cookbooks, if you get inspired to cook up a storm).
Downstairs there is a lounge (with a bookcase full of good books), two bedrooms with queen-size beds and a fourth bedroom with two single beds and two trundle beds (which are suitable only for kids). We keep linen for the trundles if they are needed in a plastic box in the laundry. There is also a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. There are electric blankets (in winter) on the queen beds and the king bed (but not the children's beds.)
There is a 72 cm (36 inch) TV with DVD player upstairs and a 92 cm (46 inch) TV with DVD player downstairs. There are many good DVDs supplied. There is also a sound system upstairs.
We have recently purchased a new high chair and baby cot for maggies bh. They are kept packaged up in the laundry. Could you please clean and package back up when you leave? There are toddler gates for the top and the bottom of the stairs. These are kept under the bed in the main bedroom upstairs.
The back garden has a barbecue and garden setting (low table and chairs). We have a lockup shed with a table tennis table and gear. There is a two person kayak for your use on the Coorong, Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert, the Goolwa Inlet or the Murray River.
There is a relaxing front lawn for bocce (set supplied).
Maggies is located on the Encounter Bay bike trail near the Tokuremoar Reserve, a beautiful path through the bush for walking and cycling. The Encounter Bay bike trail goes from Goolwa township through Middleton and Port Elliot to Victor Harbour.
Goolwa Beach is a fabulous big beach extending from Middleton Beach to the Murray Mouth, with cockling (limited season November to May), fishing, swimming and surfing, and whale-watching (whales come May to September). Near the part of the beach which is under guard by lifesavers is the wonderful seafood restaurant Bombora.
Goolwa township itself is a pretty and historic river port located at the mouth of the mighty Murray River. The Cockle Steam Train from Goolwa to Victor runs regularly on weekends and school holidays and is loved by kids (young and old). The Goolwa Wharf market is a beautiful little market every first and third Sunday of each month as well as some other special dates.
In this area is the world heritage wetlands of The Coorong and Lakes Alexandrina and Albert, the Goolwa channel and the Mundoo channel. Activities in this area include wineries at Currency Creek and Langhorne Creek, kayaking and sailing on the lakes and The Coorong, fishing at the mouth of the Murray and on the beach, bird-watching at Signal Point and Hindmarsh Island.
The Ngarrindjeri people are the Aboriginal owners of the lower Murray River, the eastern Fleurieu (including the Goolwa area) and The Coorong. They have a cafe and gallery at their community at Raukkan on Lake Alexandrina.
Goolwa, Middleton and Port Elliot are well-loved tourist towns with cafes, restaurants and shops. Goolwa has two golf courses, pubs, cafes, supermarkets, chemist and petrol stations. Middleton (5 mins by car) has a good surf shop, antique shop and cafes. Port Elliott (10 mins by car) has boutique shops, a great bakery, pubs and restaurants and protected Horseshoe Bay for swimming. Victor Harbour (20 mins by car from Goolwa) is a much larger service town with cinemas, a whale-watch centre and larger shopping centre.
We'd love to make your stay in the Fleurieu very comfortable and lots of fun.
