About this property
maggies beachhouse Goolwa Beach
Maggies beachhouse is a two-storey house, 500m from Goolwa Beach.
We have a large front deck with sea views, including views of Newland Head, West Island and The Bluff. There is a dining setting on the front deck and a number of deck chairs to while away some hours. It's a perfect spot to catch a stunning sunset. There is also a sunny back deck, cosy for morning coffee. The house has two living areas, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and three toilets.
Upstairs there is a large open living area with lounge, kitchen and dining. There is an upstairs toilet for general use. The main bedroom is also upstairs and has a king-size bed and an ensuite. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, blender, toasted sandwich-maker, many cooking utensils and other necessities (lots of glasses, cocktail shaker, baking trays, cake tins, jelly moulds, cookbooks, if you get inspired to cook up a storm).
Downstairs there is a lounge (with a bookcase full of good books), two bedrooms with queen-size beds and a fourth bedroom with two single beds and two trundle beds (which are suitable only for kids). We keep linen for the trundles if they are needed in a plastic box in the laundry. There is also a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. There are electric blankets (in winter) on the queen beds and the king bed (but not the children's beds.)
There is a 72 cm (36 inch) TV with DVD player upstairs and a 92 cm (46 inch) TV with DVD player downstairs. There are many good DVDs supplied. There is also a sound system upstairs.
We have recently purchased a new high chair and baby cot for maggies bh. They are kept packaged up in the laundry. Could you please clean and package back up when you leave? There are toddler gates for the top and the bottom of the stairs. These are kept under the bed in the main bedroom upstairs.
The back garden has a barbecue and garden setting (low table and chairs). We have a lockup shed with a table tennis table and gear. There is a two person kayak for your use on the Coorong, Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert, the Goolwa Inlet or the Murray River.
There is a relaxing front lawn for bocce (set supplied).
Maggies is located on the Encounter Bay bike trail near the Tokuremoar Reserve, a beautiful path through the bush for walking and cycling. The Encounter Bay bike trail goes from Goolwa township through Middleton and Port Elliot to Victor Harbour.
Goolwa Beach is a fabulous big beach extending from Middleton Beach to the Murray Mouth, with cockling (limited season November to May), fishing, swimming and surfing, and whale-watching (whales come May to September). Near the part of the beach which is under guard by lifesavers is the wonderful seafood restaurant Bombora.
Goolwa township itself is a pretty and historic river port located at the mouth of the mighty Murray River. The Cockle Steam Train from Goolwa to Victor runs regularly on weekends and school holidays and is loved by kids (young and old). The Goolwa Wharf market is a beautiful little market every first and third Sunday of each month as well as some other special dates.
In this area is the world heritage wetlands of The Coorong and Lakes Alexandrina and Albert, the Goolwa channel and the Mundoo channel. Activities in this area include wineries at Currency Creek and Langhorne Creek, kayaking and sailing on the lakes and The Coorong, fishing at the mouth of the Murray and on the beach, bird-watching at Signal Point and Hindmarsh Island.
The Ngarrindjeri people are the Aboriginal owners of the lower Murray River, the eastern Fleurieu (including the Goolwa area) and The Coorong. They have a cafe and gallery at their community at Raukkan on Lake Alexandrina.
Goolwa, Middleton and Port Elliot are well-loved tourist towns with cafes, restaurants and shops. Goolwa has two golf courses, pubs, cafes, supermarkets, chemist and petrol stations. Middleton (5 mins by car) has a good surf shop, antique shop and cafes. Port Elliott (10 mins by car) has boutique shops, a great bakery, pubs and restaurants and protected Horseshoe Bay for swimming. Victor Harbour (20 mins by car from Goolwa) is a much larger service town with cinemas, a whale-watch centre and larger shopping centre.
We'd love to make your stay in the Fleurieu very comfortable and lots of fun.

Can highly recommend "Maggies", our family have stayed here four times now, (when you are on to a good thing, stick with it). Hosts are very helpful, location is great, beds, linen and everything in the house is terrific. Worth a visit.

Very glad to have you and your family come any time, Ian. Thanks, Jenny
It was great to get back to Maggie’s after a 3 years hiatus. Great spot not far from Goolwa Beach to kick back & relax. Thoroughly enjoyable short break!
Have stayed here three times, says it all, when you find a great deal use it again. Jenny is a very obliging host, has a great house that has everything, from dozens of videos for all age groups, books galore, stacks of information of local attractions, down to a jar of marbles!

Can highly recommend this place to stay . Quiet neighborhood, handy to the shops in Goolwa, and has everything you will ever need. Clean, really well equipped, everything is very good quality and it's a pleasure to stay. I've said it before..."I could easily live there".

Thanks Ian. You and your family are wonderful guests - you’re very welcome back any time.
Comfortable and spacious. Quiet neighbourhood and close proximity to beach. Weather was a bit iffy so not a lot of beach time but enjoyed the stay nevertheless.
2 fabulous nights at Maggie’s Beachhouse with every convenience needed to make our stay a delight.
Combine this with a Spirit of the Corona and you have 6 very satisfied guests.
Lots of games and entertainment provided. Short walk to the beach. Beds were comfortable. Very well supplied kitchen. We all enjoed our stay very much. Thank you.
On our fourth visit to Maggie’s we were all excited about our return. The children said it was like coming home and we agreed. Maggie’s is in an excellent location and has everything one could want for a comfortable holiday.
We will be back.

We’re so glad your family like Maggie’s beachhouse so much, Elizabeth. . You’re wonderful guests and you’re welcome back anytime.
We had a wonderful time. We spent hours playing table tennis and cards and just lazing about. Everything worked well (although the stove top took some getting used to) and the house is beautiful - tasteful, interesting and comfortable.
THANK YOU!

Thanks Catherine. Really glad you had a good time relaxing pre-Christmas. What a wonderful idea. Have a happy festive season.
This was my husband and my second stay at Maggie’s Beach House. This time we stayed with friends. It was an ideal house for 3 couples, with bedrooms and a living area both downstairs and upstairs. It was very well equipped with everything we needed for a five night stay. The location was great, walking distance to the beach for early morning walks and a short drive to shops and the wharf precinct. It was also central for visiting nearby attractions such as Victor Harbour and Hindmarsh Island. Would thoroughly recommend Maggie’s for family groups or get-togethers with friends
On our third stay at Maggie’s Beach House our extended family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our 6 year old said it was like coming home.
Maggie’s provides high quality facilities and equipment.
There is plenty of room for children to use and explore. The views are beautiful and the sound of the sea calms the soul.
A short walk to the beach and across the road from the bicycle track provided daily local activity.
We highly recommend Maggie’s. We will be back.

Lovely to have you and your family come and stay again. Very glad to hear you had a good time at maggies.
We hired this property and next door so our group of 13 could be comfortable. We loved our stay. Rooms are spacious, linen provided, kitchen well appointed. Lots of windows and winter light streaming in. Local area was fantastic...we took bikes and bike track across the road meant perfect for access. Quick, close walk to the beach and enjoyed long walk into Goolwa precinct one day and Middleton the next. Lots of cafes/ restaurants and shops to meander in around Goolwa/Middleton/pt Elliot.Would have liked a coffee machine, but other than that the place was great.Owners provided clear information and prompt response to any messages, with clear information about access etc.
We have now stayed at Maggie’s on five occasions since 2019. Why do we go back? Location: listen to the waves at night. Comfort: all facilities are comfortable. Well stocked pantry for basics like flour if you need a little. Excellent collection of movies. Two outdoor areas to suit different weather. We feel at home.
Spacious. While this is not our own house our young grand children love returning to find things as they remembered them.

It’s just lovely to have you and your family returning and listening to the waves, and finding the house and garden as you like and remember it. Thanks Elizabeth.
First impression, garden overgrown natives needed cutting back. Grass needed mowing, garden could do with a good tidy up. Some items in pantry almost empty , some out of date. Lounges very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the feedback Marilyn.
Sorry the lawn hadn’t been mown - we have a new grandchild (our first) so we haven’t been down to Goolwa in the last few weeks and there’s been lots of rain
Maggie’s Beach House was a great property for our 3 night stay with family. We loved the two separate living areas and the comfy beds. The kitchen was very well equipped. The location was good, being a short walk to the beach and a short drive to the shops and the historic wharf area. We would definitely stay here again
Maggie’s Beach House is a beautifully presented holiday house located minutes from both Goowla Main Street and the beach. The house provided everything we needed, with plenty of glasses, plates and comfortable seating for 10 adults. The house was clean, the furniture and bedding excellent quality and several of us found engrossing books to read as well. We all enjoyed our stay and plan to be back. Love you Maggie’s.
