This vacation spot was exactly what my family was looking for. The cabin with a fully stocked kitchen and rooms fit the family needs with 6 adults and 2 kids. The interior and exterior matched the pictures exactly. From kayaking to fishing the experience was very good. I would highly recommend this for a stay out in a remote area where the loons and stars are what you are looking for.

Very pleased. Kitchen was equipped with everything that could be needed or wanted. Deck was great, fire-pit was good, and there were more than adequate games and things to do when it rained. Bedrooms were adequate and clean, bathrooms were fine...couldn't have asked for anything better. And there were loons on the lake, which was certainly an extra. Would highly recommend it.

Beautiful lake and fishing

We overall had a great time at this home. We really enjoyed the lake, fishing, and jumping off the dock. As previous reviewers already mentioned the house was not clean upon arrival. Whoever they are paying to clean the home is doing a horrible job. Beds were super uncomfortable Kitchen had everything you needed and more!I DO NOT recommend driving down the road to the house after dark. During the day the road was fine. We caught so many Fish in the lake!

A nice peaceful retreat

Overall we had a great stay. The lake was beautiful and the house was great for our group. The only negatives were that the road leading to the property is probably not possible for anything besides an SUV or truck. I feel like this was explained in a level of detail that did not do it justice. The only other downside was that the beds were quite uncomfortable. Other than that we had a great time and the home more than accommodated our group!

Beautiful!

My cousins and our 2 babies had an amazing time during our stay. The inside was super clean and beautifully designed, and the lake was crystal clear you could see right through to the bottom. We already want to come back next year!

Perfect for a group gathering

A weekend away at this property was just wonderful. Right on the lake, plenty of kayaks to get in the water, beautiful porch, and plenty of room to cook. Although there's limited cell phone service you won't regret booking this property. Even with rain all weekend we were able to pop up the umbrellas on the porch and enjoy every second

Orwell cabin

Our family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin on private Sunrise lake. We enjoyed floating on rafts, kayaking, dinners on the deck, and sitting around the fire pit at night. Three bedrooms with queen beds, and one bunk room accommodated our large family well. The host was very responsive when we had questions even on the Fourth of July!

The lights in the kitchen living area were always flickering unless we had them on full power and all lights on. This was so distracting that we just turned bedroom lights on for ambient illumination in the living area.The floor corners were filled with dust, dirt, spiders, cobwebs. Upon looking further the cobwebs continued up the wall corners and were filled with dead bugs and plenty of spiders. Cleanings for incoming guests should be timely within a few days of their arrival to avoid spider and cobweb build up. They were in just about EVERY corner of the house. Underneath the bathroom vanity in basement there were dirty Qtips, and other items that were intended for the garbage but ended up pushed under the sink area. Pillow cases were not on the pillows on two of the beds. When we tried to lock the lower level door to the outside, it was broken. I understand this is Vermont and very safe BUT to get into the house with such security and to find alternate ways in which had no locking ability made us uncomfortable. We had valuable jewelry, computers, and other items which when away from the property, we were concerned the whole time. Upon waking the first morning, making breakfast I found sauce pans covered in old food and the pantry area to store our food was filled with crumbs and mice droppings.

Nice family stay

The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and more! The grill worked well too. The view of the lake was wonderful, and having the kayaks a bonus. It would be nice to have a shore access to the lake, but the spot at Sunset Lake is very close by. Everyone was happy to swim at both places. We enjoyed the house very much, and found things as described. The only slight negatives are the road leading in and the access to the dock. Although every effort was made for safety of small children, the stairs leading to the dock are a little scary, as the hand rails have large open spaces. It was a big reach for our petite four year old to reach the rail, and with nothing under the rail, hard to feel secure. Overall, we had a wonderful time!

Orwell Cabin

I stayed at this property for a girls weekend with family. While the property was tidy when we arrived, it was certainly not clean. I was disappointed by the amount of dirt, dust and debris in a home with a very hefty cleaning fee. The check-in procedures were easy enough and the host was responsive to my questions. There weren't any extra blankets and it was chilly in early spring. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans to be able to cook but was missing a dishrack. Overall the property and the setting was beautiful and I know that there is no perfect rental, but I felt like the attention to detail in the home was lacking.

Beautiful and quiet view but the house could improve

Let me start by saying the location on the lake and having private dock access with kayaks were wonderful. That being said, the house itself was not the most clean. Upon arrival the owner was at the property still trying to clean up (45 mins past our check in time) and left his toothbrush at the kitchen sink. In addition, the water pressure was extremely low so only one person could shower at a time (there was 7 of us in total), and the sinks would often leak during our stay. We were told we couldn’t lean on the living room couch because it would break and the curtain rods on the main floor overlooking the lake would often fall if you tried to open them. The house looks great inside but you can tell the everything was made cheaply. This shouldn’t deter you from booking as long as you know what you’re getting into! We wish we knew more about the water pressure situation and overall cleanliness (my mom cleaned the whole house once we got there) which isn’t acceptable in my books but regardless our family had a blast.

WARNING DANGEROUS ROAD NOT AS ADVERTISED!

I booked this property months in advance and was never told until the day of arrival that the property has a 2 mile, narrow single lane, dirt road, obstructed by trees, feet off of a lake, up a steep cliff that you need a 4wheel drive vehicle for and you should only come and go during daylight. None of this is on the VRBO listing! I called and emailed several times in the days before arrival to get the entry instructions with no response from the owner. After calling Evolve on the arrival day, another management company in the instructions, I was able to get the entry code via text from the property caretaker but no other details. He texted me the owner was in India and very hard to reach. I finally got the email from the owner while I was on the 6 hour drive there and arriving at 8:30pm. DRIVING IN WAS TERRIFYING ! We booked the weekend for my son's college graduation nearby. We walked out immediately and didn't stay at all because of how dangerous the road was and the graduation had events at night. Now I'm getting a run around from Evovle, VRBO and the owner for a refund. We had to scramble to find hotel rooms in 3 different hotels at ridiculous prices because it was Memorial Day weekend and graduation. NOT FAIR. Evolve is horrible and enabling the owners to scam potetional renters with hidden details. A ROAD THIS DANGEROUS SHOULD BE DISCLOSED IN THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU RENT IT.

Stayed for a week during July 2020. Nice location but too many issues to ever come back. 1. Not very clean - Inside oven dirty, some bed linens had various stains, garbage cans overflowing at arrival, all boats provided are dirty and with water. 2. 3 out of 4 sliding doors cannot open. takes away from deck as you had to go around through front door. 3. Holes in lower level flooring covered with rough cut plywood throughout. Do not walk barefoot ! Point 2&3 were not disclosed at the time of booking. 4. Water pressure is horrible. If taking shower, if someone else turns on any faucet, shower turns into a trickle of water. 5. tough downhill stairs to lake; no area to sit by lakefront (this was disclosed) 6. Cell reception is non existent and wi-fi and TV is horribly slow and choppy. Too bad for the many above issues, as the house is nice and the lake is quiet, great deck view, easy parking. For the nightly rate however, the house and outside should be clean, the many sliding doors in the house should operate and there should be no holes in the flooring covered with rough cut plywood pieces. Too high of a rate for so many issues we encountered.

FILTHY HOME, TERRIBLE STAY, DO NOT RENT!!!

If I could give negative stars I would. Evolve Rentals is truly the worst company I have ever booked a vacation through. Please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. We showed up at our property and it was downright filthy. There were human excrements caked on the toilet, mold and food residue through out the kitchen, pubic hair on the sheets, mice in the home, dead and alive insects in most rooms, and dirt/crumbs everywhere. It was evident that the home had not been cleaned not only from the last visit, but not for months prior. When I called the homeowner and Evolve neither was able to send a cleaner and so with no where to go in this rural town, my party was on our hands and knees scrubbing toilets and every other surface in the house. A stellar way to kick off a vacation. We were initially only offered back half of the $250 cleaning fee. After 5 hours of calls and being berated by the Evolve team, being told the property was "livable" and we should get over it, we were offered a refund for the first night and cleaning fee only. Mind you, this was all in the the midst of the pandemic in which Evolve purports on its website to uphold high levels of cleanliness to adhere to CDC guidelines. An absolute joke. Other issues persisted. The reviews online noted that cleanliness was an ongoing issue and that there were structural issues with the house (e.g., a multi-hundred pound sliding door not being attached to the frame which took 3 adults to struggle to lift back into place). The owner lied responding to these complaints feigning unawareness and claiming that all had been resolved. The same door collapsed into the house when we went to open it. On the porch outside was the hardware that should have been used to attach the door, but clearly the owner did not care to complete the job (and then lied about fixing it when confronted). When I told the owner of the issue he sent me a video of how to open a door. The lack of responsibility to provide a safe, clean, structurally sound home was remarkable. Even more unbelievable that this property is sold at $550+/night including fees. The cherry on the cake was the customer service team at Evolve. The owner stopped responding and the Evolve team would put me on 30+ minute waits to ever speak to a human. Instead of reimbursing my credit card 50% as promised in writing, they charged me again, effectively billing me for 150% of my stay. I emailed them to let them know of the issue, and no one responded. I then called twice, waiting on the phone for 1+ hours to address the improper billing. I was told that the reimbursement should come through on my card, but the fact that the second charge went through and the reimbursement did not seems highly suspicious. All said and done, please for all that is good in the world do not book from Evolve Rentals. This company deserves to go out of business for the way they treat their customers.

What a great getaway with kayaks and a fire pit was lovely

Everything was great easy to check in and out the beds were not the best but idk what people would expect and the one down side was the dishwasher wasn't draining so we had to wash our own dishes again not a big deal and the owner sent a email to me the 1st night letting us know but we already figured that out over a real nice spot

Great time

The property is a beautiful setting on a lake. Kayaks and dock area was great for the kids. Fire pit, grill and deck with a lot of seating available. However, the indoor and outdoor seating is very small scale and not comfortable for lounging. Additionally, the beds are set very low to the ground and could be difficult to get in and out of, for some. Overall we still had a great time.
