Ridgetop Retreats - Deep Creek National Park close to the Kangaroo Island ferry
The Ridgetop Retreats continue to set the benchmark in design excellence for nature based holiday accommodation. Designed by renowned architect Max Pritchard they take full advantage of their beautiful location in the Stringybark Forest in Deep Creek Conservation Park and successfully blend sustainability with a high standard of comfort.
They have been used as a template for sustainable tourism accommodation both in South Australia and Victoria and were awarded the prestigious Royal Australian Institute of Architects Award of Merit.
But being environmentally friendly doesn’t mean going without. Parquetry floors, bespoke stainless steel kitchen, leather sofas and cedar venetians provide a rich texture for the senses.
The floor to ceiling windows that are the hallmark of the Ridgetop Retreats create a strong sense of being connected to nature. There is so much glass you will feel like you are out under the stars and in among the trees.
Visiting kangaroos, birds, bandicoots, a lush forest with wildflowers and ever changing weather patterns provide a visual feast for you to enjoy from your panoramic view point.
The Retreats can accommodate up to 4 guests and are provided with all linen and continental breakfast. They are centrally located in Deep Creek Conservation Park and a convenient starting point for the Forest Circuit Walk and Spring Wildflower Walk.

We had a very enjoyable 2 night stay. Property was well appointed and very clean. The location in the national park is pretty unique. Very peaceful surroundings and a comfortable stay. Could not ask for more.
Secluded within the National Park, this is a lovely peaceful place surrounded by trees and wildlife - especially birds. You can't actually see the sea from there, but the park is great with wonderful walks and a feeling of being alone with nature.
We were surprised by the remote location, but enjoyed the beautiful home! The accommodations (including the stocked pantry) were great! We saw a family of kangaroo and enjoyed our hikes. There were a ton of flies that we were not quite prepared for, but kept us company :). We used the house as a base for kangaroo island so had a full SA experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the ridge top retreat. Highly recommended for those wanting a retreat from the ever connected world. Great walking/hiking.
Property even better than described, very peaceful surrounds with multiple native bird species and kangaroos seen within metres of our retreat over our 4-night stay.
No TV, wifi or cellular reception (including Telstra), which was perfect for unwinding on our trip.
Very useful information about nearby hikes and businesses provided by the hosts, this is wonderful accomodation and very good value for the price, highly recommended!
Perfect location in a beautiful surrounds of nature
Wonderful forest around the retreat was peaceful. Property is very well equipped and clean for a relaxed, easy stay. Good signage and directions made it simple to find.

Beautiful retreat set in a beautiful place
As a surprise birthday present for my partner this turned out to be a fantastic four nights. Entering Deep Creek you are emerged into tall stringy bark forest with ferns and grass trees lining the floor. Down the dirt track a first glimpse of the architecturally designed retreat is a delight.
Upon entering you first see the perfectly framed stone fireplace and are surrounded by windows revealing the bushland beyond. The building itself is beautiful and the views through the large windows immerse you into the forest.
With a beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds and open plan living all so well considered it is very comfortable. The nearby walks are beautiful and worth visiting for these alone. We can highly recommend the Ridge Top Retreats and would never leave if given the choice.

I would like to have stayed there but the only way to book was by email enquiry and I missed the return phonecall. By the time I got in contact with the person a few days later they had let it to someone else and had nothing available for the time I wanted. Disappointing as I intended to book.

As we arrived there was a flock of scrub wrens and thornbills dancing around immediately outside our bedroom window. They were there for at least 10 minutes, much to our delight. I know this wasn't arranged, but it set our weekend off to a great start.
Later there were kangaroos on the porch and other birds. and the free park pass was certainly appreciated.
It was cold and the fire each evening was extra nice.
We could come again!

We enjoyed our stay at Ridgetop Retreat 3, and found it a comfortable and relaxing stay. Just a little more attention to detail would be appropriate for the price, though. We appreciated the Park Pass provided.

Fantastic. The retreats are wonderfully designed, offering a touch of luxury without diminishing the 'getting away from it all' experience. Native flora and fauna are at your doorstep, and in abundance within the beautiful Deep Creek park. Hikes galore, a short drive to the coastline, privacy assured and a very peaceful ambience. Great value for money, we loved it and will definately be returning. Thankyou

We are a small family owned business who decided to make a sea change, leave the city life and careers in Adelaide back in late 1993. We started our business in January in 1994. and have 6 self contained holiday accommodation inside Deep Creek National Park. In 2024 we will be celebrating 30 years in nature stay accommodation the Fleurieu Peninsula.. This is our sole source of income so we take what we do seriously and aim to provide a memorable experience for our guests. Although we have been in business for nearly 3 decades we are relatively new to adding our accommodation to Stayz and other booking platforms as we have our own website. In the past we have been fortunate to have a high repeat customer base where our guests would book direct but we have found that the booking landscape has changed and more and more accommodation providers are using these platforms to attract guests to their accommodation properties. Therefore the addition of some of our accommodation to this platform. We have always enjoyed connecting with our guests in some way either via phone or face to face and are proud to showcase our region and Deep Creek National Park. We hope when you stay with us you will leave with fond memories of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula.
Why they chose this property
We chose the Fleurieu Peninsula because just loved the National Park, the landscape and beaches in the area. We also love the fact that it is only 90 minutes south of Adelaide which makes it an easy and scenic drive to this stunning coastal area.
What makes this property unique
.We are the only accommodation located right inside the Deep Creek National Park. We provide all our guests with a complimentary park pass to enable them to access all the walks and lookouts in Deep Creek. We are only a 10 minute drive from the Kangaroo Island Ferry and a 45 minute drive from the Seaside town of Victor Harbor.. Situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula only a 90 minute drive from the South of Adelaide it is the ideal weekend or holiday destination. Close to the start of the famous Heysen Trail and a 10 minute easy drive to the Kangaroo Island Ferry Terminal at Cape Jervis makes our accommodation an ideal stopover before and after a trip to Kangaroo Island. We are also located close to the small beachside hamlets of Rapid Bay and Second Valley making our properties the ideal secluded but central place to stay. Normanville, Carrickalinga and Yankalilla are located approximately 30 minute drive away where you will be able to discover some of the quaint little shops on offer. If you are wanting to visit the seaside coastal town of the popular Victor Harbor it is a 45 minute drive along the Range Road so you can spend the day shopping or eating at one the special dining areas on offer.
