Casina Marcella - country house

Ten minutes from Daylesford, Casina Marcella is one of two fully equipped homes on five acres reflecting the Swiss/Italian heritage of the region. It sleeps four in two queen beds and positioned such that it is completely private overlooking potentially grazing kangaroos and Hepburn State Forest from french doors or the alfresco area under the grapevines.

Set in the peaceful countryside of Basalt; rolling hills, wildlife, bush walks and country quiet. Read a book or for that matter write a book, meditate to the sounds of chirping birds or lowing cattle, chill out and rejuvenate. With modern conveniences and a historic flavour, Casina Marcella is the place for you to relax and wind down.

Minutes from Daylesford, Lavendula lavender farm, the Frangos Swiss Mountain Hotel, you need not travel out of the area for your entertainment and eating requirements. Or, if you choose to venture out, it is in the middle of Central Victoria's 'Golden Triangle' with all of it's historic and boutique towns, tourist attractions and festivals an easy commute. Daylesford is only one and a half hours from Melbourne so come enjoy what is on offer.

The region is renowned for it's mineral springs and health and wellness traditions as well as it's gastronomic delights, markets and wineries. In fact the region boasts some of Victoria's best food and wine experiences.

Getaway from busy life

Beautiful house and setting, had everything as advertised clean and comfy. Hostess was beautiful and accommodating. Great place to get away from day to day stresses and just relax. Food in Daylesford excellent. Will be staying again.

We had a lovely short stay. The home is as described and the surrounding area is very relaxing and peaceful. Jan left a set fire, chocolate, wine and cereal and milk for breakfast. Will be back for sure.

We booked at the last minute and were happy to find somewhere that would accept just one night. Jan’s home is lovely. And the windows opened onto beautiful views. I am looking forward to returning for the birdsong in the morning and the star filled night sky.

Everything you need quiet & scenic

We had a delightful 2 nights in the very comfortable and spacious country house. Beautiful outdoor area to enjoy the bird life and trees. Kitchen has everything you need. We were very happy with this quiet rural retreat.

Country paradise with cute neighbours

Jan's place is charming, both inside the property and out, and came complete with nearby kangaroos which grazed outside the kitchen and living rooom window both mornings. The house is cosy and comfortable with a log fire and lovely modern bathroom shared between both bedrooms. Jan was a considerate host and we enjoyed meeting her for a quick chat just before checking out. A peaceful, warm and very relaxing stay in a beautiful part of the state.

Family getaway

We booked this wonderful home to celebrate my father's bday. Jan was kind enough to leave some wine and chocolates for us to help celebrate. The place was a lovely escape from the city with kangaroos in the backyard! Thanks again Jan :)
