Situated two minutes off the Princes Highway (half way between Nowra to the north, and the charming village of Milton to the south) and convenient to many of the Jervis Bay region's most beautiful beaches. Finchley B&B offers guests an acre of fully fenced, secure, lightly treed rural land with delightful views, sometimes including wallabies and kangaroos nextdoor (sunrise and sunset), or our neighbours' horses and cattle grazing nearby.
We also have a dog-proof fenced yard connected to the rear of the cottage.
The Shoalhaven region has become famous for many quality wineries, some with their own restaurants, and some offering music events, local exhibitions etc, as well as many quality restaurants and cafes including the world renowned Rick Stein's at Bannisters, in Mollymook, and multi award winning Pelican Rocks seafood restaurant/cafe at Greenwell Point (very dog friendly) - plus weekend markets, galleries and museums.
We are conveniently situated within 20-30 minutes' driving distance of many beautiful Shoalhaven/Jervis Bay beaches, National Parks and bushwalking trails, waterfalls and lookouts. The Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay coast offers many popular fishing or snorkling spots, surfing beaches and bays (many, dog-friendly), walking trails, dolphin- and whale-watching cruises and more. You are also within a very pleasant day's outing through Kangaroo Valley to the Southern Highlands area behind us.
The cottage features some original works by a local artist, showing Jervis Bay beaches in their glorious colours, and these, together with beach bags with a choice of three of these views, are available to purchase as a souvenir of your visit, or perhaps a gift.
WANDANDIAN: Located at the centre of the Shoalhaven, Wandandian village was first established as a postal district in 1860, and has a rich history, including being on the Wool Road which originally ran from Braidwood down to Jervis Bay where the wool was loaded onto ships for export. The village takes its name from the Wandandian people, the traditional owners of much of the region. The Aboriginal meaning of 'Wandandian' (originally Wandrawandian) is 'home of lost lovers'.

Thank you Jack, for your kind feedback. It was a pleasure to share our home with you, and we hope we will get to welcome you all again in the future.
This place was ideal for our dog and truly the best pet-friendly stay we've had! Bronwyn, the owner, was exceptionally caring and attentive. The kitchen had the basics, but upgrading to better quality cookware would be a great addition for families who want to prepare meals regularly.

The bird life is spectacular and the two bedroom cottage was spotless with an abundance of towels sheets toiletries and amazingly stocked pantry including fresh often local produce. As well as all mid cons great library and DVD collection
Hostess Bronwyn Reid and husband Geoff showed us great generosity and their friendly chatty style allowed us to become part of their life. They willingly shared their knowledge of coastal and country dog friendly walks and beaches. In addition they recommended local cadets and restaurants We had a wonderful holiday Thank you

Thank you so much Jennifer and Lionel for your lovely feedback (will assume you met more cafes than cadets in your outings LOL). It was a true pleasure to have you stay with us and thank you for being such friendly, thoughtful guests. I do hope we get to welcome you back, hopefully with your son next time. Louis sends his love to Foxy!
My partner and I came with our Italian greyhound and I cannot recommend the property enough! We had a great stay and thanks to Bronwyn’s hospitality, our Italian greyhound was made to feel like an equal guest. The property had a huge space for our dog to run for hours as the sun set with the smell of the fire. The accomodation was incredibly cosy and just what we needed to come home to after a day of exploring the South Coast. Bronwyn gave us a fully stocked cupboard and provided all the essentials and was extremely thoughtful for any pets who stay. There’s plenty of info in the cottage to inspire you to explore all that the South Coast has to offer which I loved. Bronwyn was also great at communicating before and during the stay. Thanks so much Bronwyn and we hope to stay again in future so Basil can reunite with your three gorgeous Cavaliers!

A peaceful paradise!
My husband and I have just returned from a blissful holiday at Finchley B&B and can't say enough wonderful things about our experience. We spent a long weekend at Finchley with two our friends friends and two dogs and everyone had such an amazing time. The property is perfect for those with pups; the spacious yards are fully enclosed, so you have peace of mind and can relax while they play. Our dogs had the time of their lives romping around the place and were very sad to leave! The cottage is extremely comfortable, immaculate and beautifully decorated. Bronwyn has put so much work into ensuring every need is catered for; the pantry was stocked with anything you could ever want and the breakfast supplies were plentiful and delicious -- especially the eggs that were freshly laid by Bronwyn's chickens! We loved having our breakfast out on the gorgeous front porch, while watching the morning sun sparkle on the nearby lake. In the evening after a lovely day at the beach, we sat on the porch with wine and nibbles and watched the sun set. A spectacular lightning storm later that night just added to the magic of the experience! Bronwyn was a fantastic and friendly host, and we really enjoyed chatting and having a laugh with her. We have stayed at many places on the south coast, and this was by far our favorite. We will certainly be returning. If you have pets, or even if you don't, this is the place to stay for a wonderful weekend away from the city!!

Kristen, thank you so very much for your generous feedback, it's really appreciated, and I would love to see you all back here again in the not too distant future, as would Louis and Darcy! I owe you a glass of 'Marlborough'! You were model guests, and a pleasure to have with us. This is what it's all about, sharing a space we think is a bit special with new friends who enjoy a break from the 'big smoke'. Until next time! Bronwyn XXX

It was a pleasure to see Erin, Matt and the family enjoy their stay at Finchley B and B. This was a long awaited visit, being postponed from a year ago due to the bushfires in the region this time last year. so I was glad that they all seemed to enjoy their time with us and made the most of what was on offer.
The stay was a real relaxing experience. The place is the best equipped I have every stayed in. Anything you can think of is available. Plenty of breakfast options.
Our dog was very happy as he had plenty of space to run around but still safe as it is fully fenced off area. Plenty of birds for him to chase.
The host are very friendly and informative. A chat in the morning will help you plan the day as she gives you helpful hints for places to visit and see.
All in all, a very highly recommended place to stay.

Response from VrboOwner on 22 November 2020
(Note: this stay was postponed twice from December 2019 due firstly to bushfires and then later on, the Covid19 restrictions, and these guests finally managed to use their booking in November 2020)... Puneet, Yasmeen and their little dog, Rocco, were absolutely delightful guests, who showed great respect for their environment and the amenities available to them. They communicated well and left the cottage very clean. They are definitely welcome back any time, and I highly recommend them to future hosts.
We had a great start with Bronwyn and her lovely dogs. This is a truly dog friendly place with a fenced in yard and everything you can think of to make your stay great.
There's a pantry with basics and find treats, fresh eggs from the hens daily and a dog door so your pooches can vibe and go from the laundry.
It's hard to find places like this and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Bronwyn Reid
I have lived in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide; and rurally for over 30 years now. While my beloved Sydney (Harbour) is still within easy reach (delightful train journey up the coast), the lifestyle and beauty of this Jervis Bay region is very hard to beat, and there is always somewhere new to explore. I am working my way through the local tourism's "100 Beach Challenge" (up to about 60+ at time of writing). I love travel, photography, reading, crafts, my pets, and living in this wonderful region, plus meeting my guests and their pets.
Why they chose this property
The setting for Finchley offers the best of both worlds... pretty and peaceful here, and within a very convenient radius of so many lovely places and things to do. The cottage (and smaller unit listed separately - refer "Little Finchley" listing number 9201723) has a spacious separate verandah which is great for dining al fresco or a BBQ, enjoying the summer afternoon easterly breezes with a glass of wine. Other options are snoozing in the hammock under the gum trees, or sitting round the fire pit toasting marshmallows on a clear, still night. (Hammock installed in gumtrees by owners on request.)
What makes this property unique
We chose this site specifically for our B and B because the existing cottage, set on a very gently sloping site, really lent itself to becoming a B and B. We built on a 2-storey extension as our private residence, and a while after the B and B cottage was up and running, added the smaller unit, (now middle section, between main cottage and private residence) as more of a budget accommodation option, ideally for single or a couple of through-travelers who don't need or want all the space both indoor and out - provided with the main cottage, but still being pet friendly and well stocked smaller version. These two units can open up into a larger one for bigger groups. Many guests love all the fenced, secure space their pets can run around in safely, plus the dog-proof-fenced yard off a rear door of the main cottage. The smaller unit has a spacious, enclosed, gated verandah and lawn area beyond, which can be securely enclosed. Well behaved, house-trained pets over six months of age are welcome indoors (bowls, rugs and couch protectors provided), we ask only that they do not disturb other guests, towels and covers supplied are used where necessary to protect furniture/bedding, no greasy bones on furniture either indoors or out, and that owners clean up after their pets (doggy do bags provided and a dedicated small rubbish bin in the verandah for your convenience)..
