Somerset Dam Accommodation - The Lock Up

Originally the Somerset Police Station, 'The Lock Up' as it's affectionately known today remains much as it did throughout its official use from 1937 to 1964, still with the original single gaol (jail) cell attached to the rear of the house.

- 4 Bedrooms (sleeps 12) – 1 Queen, 1 Queen, 1 Single & 1 Bunk (Single Top & Bottom), 1 Bunk (Double Bottom, Single Top), Double pullout sofa, pillows and doonas provided, BYO linen
- Fans in every room and four split system air conditioning units throughout the house
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Nespresso coffee machine (BYO PODs - original style)
- Bathroom with shower and toilet
- Toilet (separate)
- Flat screen TV & Bluray player (TV channels are operated via a satellite setup box)
- Free WiFi
- BBQ
- Large covered outdoor entertaining area with TV, Bluetooth Speqker, lounge, table and chairs
- Washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron
- Fully fenced yard for the kids and pet friendly (some gaps may not be suitable for small dogs). Pets are not allowed inside the house without prior approval.
- Single bay carpark at the front of the house and off street parking for a boat and trailer

A group of us stayed in the Lock Up to fish at Somerset Dam. Had a great time and the house was perfect for our needs. Do yourself a favor and book the house for your next holiday to Somerset.

Great stay

The property was great, very clean, beds are super comfy and house is nice and big, great for two families. Outdoor area is lovely and Steve is very organised and easy to deal with. Will definitely come back here.

Enjoyable Stay

The stay was really enjoyable, Steve was excellent with his communication. We spent most of our time on the entertaining deck out the back. which had large table and chairs, lounge, TV, boombox and fan.We just wish we could have look inside the jail cell.

The location and house was great! clean and had everything that we need with lots of space. Fans and aircon for the hole house. the out door area is comfy and cozy. Steve was great to deal with. highly recommend

Ski Trip at the Lock Up

The house is everything you need for a simple relaxed stay. The house has four bedrooms a large outdoor area with a firepit and easy off street parking and the most important part close to the dam. We spent most of our time in the outdoor area and cooked on the BBQ. The house has everything you need to cook with. Only recommendation I have is if you like to listen to music and have a few drinks relaxing after a big day out at the dam bring a Bluetooth speaker

Fantastic home

So comfortable. Plenty of room for all of us. Clean and pet friendly. Kitchen had everything to prepare and serve. Party area out back with bbq boombox and lovely comfortable dining table/chairs and wicker lounge. The laundry was perfect complete with dryer. We the family will definitely be rebooking. So much better than camping. Thank you Steve. Well done

Suited us for attending my sons wedding in the area for 2 nights loaction handy to the hall for reception ,ample parking , house was well equipped as stated , once the mainteneace/painting is done throughout will be a neat place , all enjoyed there stay and were comfortable, not bad for a 90 year charming old building .Ps back deck would be mint with a pool table Thanks for having us Steve

Property is spacious with everything that we could have needed. Well equipped kitchen made our stay over Christmas thoroughly enjoyable. Easy access to the dam and plenty of parking for the cars and JetSki. Very very comfortable and great outdoor area. We’ll be back !

Perfect for large group, everything you need

Good location, comfortably sleeps 10 people. I stayed with family ranging from kids to elderly parents. Kitchen had everything needed. Really nice and spacious deck with bbq, fan, music and large table and outdoor lounges. The deck looks out to the forest and you can hear whip birds and storm birds which is very relaxing. The accommodation is basic, which was perfect for us. It was somewhere where we could go at the end of a long day on the dam and be comfortable, fans in every room and aircon. I liked that it was basic and not cluttered with decorations and too much furniture as that just creates a bit of stress when holidaying with a large group and worrying about damage etc. Communication with Steve was easy and on time. Zero issues. We didn’t park the boat there but if you did I imagine it would have to be on street or on the grass as you can't park in the driveway in front of sheds as they are occupied. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere to stay close to the dam, for a large group that needs easy and affordable accommodation.

Great place to stay for a Dam holiday

Great place, isolated from neighbours, so can enjoy drinks and music on deck. Steve and the process were great. The only downside was boat parking but very doable. All in all we had fantastic stay. 👌👌👌👌

Passionate about the water and the town of Somerset, my family has a long history with the town with my parents having various properties over the years from the late 60's through to the late 80's. Both were skiers and dad was a championship barefooter in his day.

As kids we spent nearly every second weekend in Somerset and I have so many fond memories growing up in the town that it felt only natural for me to return and buy my own place. I now get to share the opportunity for other people and families to make their own memories by making the property available for holiday rentals.
