Cosy "Gingerbread Cottage", minutes from Somerset Dam - Dogs welcome!

Fabulous holiday house nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac in the historic village of Somerset Dam. Ideal for the family or a bunch of friends wanting to escape and enjoy the peaceful setting that Gingerbread Cottage has to offer.

Downstairs has a hotel style queen sized master attached to the shared colonial style bathroom. Comfortable cosy lounge area with widescreen TV and a selection of DVD's to enjoy. Roomy fully equipped kitchen hosting a fridge/freezer with ice and water, upright cooker, indoor dining area and a hideaway laundry. Downstairs is also air-conditioned and has ceiling fans. The back deck offers a great place to have morning coffee while overlooking the back yard and treed hillside. Expect a visit from the wild but friendly King Parrots. At night it's a great place to enjoy a BBQ and entertain.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, with ceiling fans and air conditioners, one with a queen size bed and another with two king single beds. Both rooms have an additional trundle bed to comfortably sleep three. A bathroom completes upstairs.

Gingerbread Cottage is minutes from Lake Somerset. The lake is ideal for BBQ's, boating, canoeing, fishing, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, water skiing, swimming and walking.

To the north of Somerset is Kilcoy, a quiet rural town where you will find the legendary statue of the Yowie. The drive from Kilcoy to Esk takes you around the foreshores of Lake Somerset where there is a wonderland of hidden valets, bushland and quiet rivers. To the south of Somerset is the historic township of Esk. Nestled beneath the magnificent Glen Rock, Esk is a beautifully kept town with a range of cafe's, gift and antique stores and sites to explore.

Pets are welcome at our property. If you would like to bring you pet into the house, prior arrangement must be made or damage deposit may be forfeited.
Please clean up after your pet, failure to do so will result in the damage deposit being forfeited.

What a great house in a beautiful part of the world

We booked Gingerbread Cottage as we were helping and attending at a wedding at Coronation Hall which was only 5 minutes round the corner - very walkable!The Cottage is cosy with reverse cycle heating (we stayed in July), comfy beds, 2 bathrooms which was handy getting ready for the wedding and a very well equipped kitchen.We were so busy on the weekend, we look forward to having the opportunity to stay again and make full use of the cottage and explore the surrounding area.Such a good move to book the cottage for the weekend and not drive back and forth from Brisbane.Thoroughly recommend.

Great Experience for a Family get away!

The house is lovely to stay out! Surprisingly more spacious than the photos look. All 8 of us and the dogs fitted comfortably in the house. The host was super gracious and on top of communication from the start! Definitely looking at visiting again :)

Great Spot

The location, space, cost and cleanliness of the house was perfect. There were 7 of us and we fit with baggage etc. with heaps of room left. We really enjoyed our stay and my King Parrot buddy for breakfast was very polite as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area. The owner was also very accommodating. Thank you.

This place needs some maintenance!

We booked for two nights (22-24 Sept 2023) to spend time at the dam. Decided we didn’t want to stay for the second night as there were too many issues with the property. The Wi-Fi did not work and the host didn’t know how to resolve the issue. The backyard was severely overgrown and contained dog faeces, so we were unable to kick the footy in the backyard. The oven and tray had not been cleaned and was dirty. The fridges ice machine was broken and leaking. Downstairs shower head needs to be replaced and sprays water all over the place. There was a cupboard door missing in the kitchen. AC control in the kitchen didn’t work. Once the issues were raised with the host, they became nonresponsive. Central spot in town, but we weren’t happy at all with how the property was left for us and presented. There are much nicer places to stay in Somerset – I’d keep looking.

Internet not working , no TV, BBQ needs a full clean up excessive amount of build up causing massive fire , could have burnt the balcony down, the balcony is probably the best part of the house but rusted tables & chairs and old rusted fans make the place look terrible, otherwise everything else about the property is great.

Bush retreat in the mountains

Such a spacious cottage! The photos make it look smaller than it is, fully facilitated with cooking equipment and big fridge. We spent most of our time on the big back deck enjoying the gardens and ample seating. And then around the woodfire stove inside when it got chilly. Lots of extra blankets for the cool nights and the upstairs shower is like a hotwater rainfall that wraps you up to get the chill out of your bones after being down at the dam. Really loved it, will be back!
