This one bedroom/one bath apartment is the first floor of a three-story oceanfront home that is perched directly above the crashing Pacific Ocean waves. Only 200 feet away, there is private access to Lighthouse Beach. This spectacular beach is bounded on both the north and south by 60 foot-tall sandstone cliffs that extend into the ocean. Because there is no public access to this ½ mile sandy beach between the rocky headlands from the north or south, it is the closest thing to a private beach in Oregon. Enjoy amazing views of Gregory Point, the historic Cape Arago lighthouse on Chief Island, and Lighthouse Beach from the master bedroom, kitchenette, living room, dining room and private deck in this spectacularly located one bedroom apartment. Be captivated by the 180 degree views from the Cape Arago lighthouse to Yoakam Point from the kitchenette, dining room and living room. You’ll sink into a comfortable queen bed every night. Open the windows and fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach below your home. Relax on the cozy wind-protected deck while the brilliant sun sets behind the Cape Arago lighthouse on Chief Island. The heated tile floors will keep you toasty day and night. Curl up by the gas fireplace and enjoy the wonderful views from the comfort of your couch or rocking chair. Two additional adults can sleep on the queen hide-a-bed in the living room and a child can sleep in the provided Pack ‘N Play. Lighthouse Beach has numerous interesting geological features including steep sandstone cliffs, small caves, small waterfalls and rivulets to the ocean, monolithic rocks in the surf and stone promontories that project into the ocean to create tiny U-shaped private beaches during high tide. Walking along the sandy beach you are treated to unparalleled views of the Cape Arago lighthouse perched on Chief Island, the hole through the island and the steep cliffs that protect this unique stretch of beach. The kitchenette has a full-size refrigerator, quartz countertops, farm sink, microwave, countertop convection oven, crockpot, electric griddle, electric tea kettle and rice cooker. Other amenities include a blender, coffee grinder, coffee maker, and all the utensils, flatware and silverware needed for cooking, barbecuing and serving six people. The property is gated, with a paved driveway and parking, large back yard with lawn, mature trees and shrubbery and a large oceanfront yard to experience the beautiful Oregon coast. To take advantage of the Oregon coast, amenities include crab pots for catching your own Dungeness crabs, tools for harvesting mussels on the onshore rocks, shovels for harvesting razor clams, huge Empire clams and cockles, buckets, boots, an outdoor kettle for cooking your catch, gas barbecue, beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach towels, and beach toys for children. Within ten minutes of this amazing home (some are only 1 minute away) there are numerous natural areas and tourist attractions. These include Sunset Bay State Park (a popular, very flat and shallow beach with small waves), Shore Acres State Park (extensive international botanical species and formal gardens blooming throughout the year, unusual geological features that create explosive ocean spray up to 200 feet high, storm watching, secluded Simpson Beach, and Holiday Lights featuring 300,000 lights from Thanksgiving to New Year’s), Simpson Reef (the largest sea lion haul-out on the west coast of the United States with more than 5,000 Stellar sea lions, California sea lions, elephant seals and harbor seals), Cape Arago State Park viewpoint and hiking, the Shore Acres hiking loop, secret beaches, Bastendorff Beach and State Park (surfers, views, mussel harvesting), a portion of Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge encompassing over 1,800 islands and rocks along the Oregon coast, Charleston marina and harbor (restaurants, charter fishing, shopping, fishing gear and permits), U.S. Coast Guard view point (south jetty views and the geology of the Charleston harbor), the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (University of Oregon research facility) and the Charleston Marine Science Center. This one bedroom unit is the first floor of a three-story home; the upper floors are also a vacation rental with another 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with the same amazing views of the Cape Arago lighthouse, Gregory Point, Chief Island, Lighthouse Beach and Yoakam Point. The entire house can accommodate up to 14 guests with an interior stairway. There is an "Alexa" smart device in the living room area of each floor. It cannot be activated remotely. Guests can unplug the device to assure privacy.

Wonderful place to stay. Comfortable beds. Owner very responsive to questions and coming out to house and fix issue with getting bed in the box to work.
The cottage itself was excellent. Very nicely done and better than it appears from the pictures. The ocean views were spectacular with close access to the beach. Close to costal walks and sights, ( don’t miss the sea lions), there was plenty to do. We loved our stay here.

Very comfortable and the ocean front view was wonderful!
My fiance and I were very happy with this rental! The location is beautiful. The lighthouse that can be viewed from the kitchen was spectacular. This location is very close to shore acres State Park which is what we wanted and provided us with a easy drive through the park. The house and grounds is in Nice condition and well kept up. The decorations in the house were very nice and tasteful. We were very very pleased. Communication with the owner was great and we had no problem finding it. We would definitely rent again if we find ourselves in the area!
This was an amazing location with so much to see. We spent 5 days there and didn't run out of things to do within the area. Very beautiful and we were sad to leave. We loved the private beaches.
We had such a fantastic stay and the host, Dan, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The outside space is breathtaking and we loved hearing the ocean roar below. We rented the first floor and had the unexpected surprise of a ping pong table…which lead to some fun competition after dinner. We enjoyed hikes nearby and visited the seals & seal lions, which are only 5 minutes down the road. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!!
This property was a surprise. The house was very well represented in the description, being extremely well appointed, clean, comfortable etc, but the property was under represented. It's beautiful. The view was amazing, the grounds were well designed for spending time outdoors and meticulously maintained. Mike is an excellent communicator and responsive. As an example, a breaker threw for the in-floor radiant hear (which is great by the way) and a solution was presented in minutes. This place is simply all good.
We actually live in Coos Bay and rented the house for my baby shower and to have a baby moon before our sweet baby 4 arrives! It was perfect for our needs. Parking is limited but having my husband run a shuttle from Bastendorff campground was easy enough! The ocean views of this home are breathtaking, location is awesome, views of the lighthouse were a lovely touch, our kiddos loved the garage setup with ping pong table/toys/etc., and they also loved exploring the beautiful outdoor gazebo area. The house is adorable and very clean and well-kept. Mike’s communication is fantastic and easy. Breakfast at Foggy’s Cafe was absolutely delicious! A close drive to Lighthouse/Sunset/Bastendorff beaches, Shore Acres State Park, Bastendorff play ground, and to Coos Bay for all the amenities. Fred Meyer and Walmart are easy to get to for necessities, and downtown Coos Bay is adorable, complete with delicious restaurants and fun things to do. Our favorites are SharkBite’s Seafood Cafe & Sumin’s. Waxer’s Surf Shop is great for surf & sandboard rentals. The huge indoor kids play place, Bananas Kiddo Kingdom, is a great spot for kids to enjoy some active fun and dry indoor play! Highly recommend this house and location. We rented just the first floor which had everything needed for our family of 5, with one on the way! We look forward to returning and renting the entire beautiful house for a fun friends weekend! Thank you, Mike, for an incredible beach home and our wonderful, memorable stay!
This property is better than advertised. We have never stayed in a place so clean and clearly loved. We had fog the whole time and were still able to enjoy the outside space as it was so thoughtfully laid out. Thank you for sharing this bit of paradise!
Exceeded our expectations! Great location with gorgeous views! The house is beautiful, well kept, clean, comfortable, private, and welcoming. It is obvious that care was put into the details. We’ll be back!
It was our 2nd stay, and the property has only been improved upon. Great location next to beautiful State Parks, and a very comfortable place for our family of four.
The location was absolutely amazing with views of the Pacific and a nearby lighthouse. We stayed on the lower level, which was just the right size for three of us. Had everything we needed for our two day stay. Having access to a washer and dryer was such a bonus!
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property and wish we could have stayed longer. if you have a choice though, ask for the upstairs apartment. We were downstairs and we could hear every flush, chair scrape, etc of the people above, and they showered at 5 am and we were really hoping to sleep longer than that.

Thank you for the review. It is true that noise from the upstairs can filter to the first floor. We ask all guests to be quiet because the two units are in the same house. Unfortunately, some guests are noisier than others and that can impact the guests in the first floor. The ceiling between the first floor and second floor is insulated against noise, but the heated tile floors still transmit some noise.
The house is lovely and the yard and ocean/lighthouse view are amazing. The location is great as it is very close to Sunset Bay and Shore Acres State Parks. The host was readily available to help with issues. The fire alarm went off at 7 am due to dead batteries. The host answered my phone call quickly and told us where to find extra batteries. If you want peace and quiet, I recommend staying during the week when it's less likely you'll have upstairs neighbors. We stayed 3 nights with upstairs neighbors 2 of the nights and could hear every foot step. They had several children that ran around and screamed throughout the evenings. We were gone during the days so it didnt bother us then. The 3rd night was very peaceful.

Thank you for the review. It is true that some noise, especially running feet, comes through to the first floor, even though the area between floors is insulated. Unfortunately, the heated tile floors transmit noise well. Our House Rules do specify that all guests should respect one another, especially regarding noise. Families with young children are generally compliant, but children are still children. After the guest notified me of the noise upstairs, I contacted the upstairs guests and suggested sending the children to the 3rd floor to play so noise wouldn't impact the first floor so much. The guests were able to follow that recommendation during part of their stay.

We have lived in Coos Bay, on the Oregon coast, for 30 years. We purchased an oceanfront home as a vacation rental because we love the ocean. The home has an amazing view of the Cape Arago lighthouse, Lighthouse Beach, Gregory Point, Chief's Island and Yoakam Point. It is absolutely wonderful to watch the waves, whales, sea lions, birds and sunsets.
Why they chose this property
This home has been completely remodeled to take advantage of the amazing views of the Cape Arago lighthouse and Lighthouse Beach. The full-length windows, protected decks, unparalleled 270 degree views, high bank and beach access make this an amazing vacation rental property.
What makes this property unique
Completely remodeled home with heated tile floors throughout, gas fireplace (1st floor), beach access only 200 feet away, high end appliances and furniture, gated property, plenty of paved parking and spectacular views of the ocean, beach and headlands. Lighthouse Beach can only be accessed by local property owners; there is no public access because the beach is bounded on the southwest and northeast by 60-foot cliffs that jut into the ocean and prevent others from accessing the beach.
