The house was as advertised and was perfect for our trip. Definitely a great location, plenty of beds and loved being on the canals. Joan was a great host letting me know about the house before we arrived.
Such a cool property with views from most rooms. Heaps of rooms and beds and most bedrooms with a beautiful view of the canals. We parked our boat at the front and viewed the Christmas lights. Lots of crabbing and fishing for the kiddos. Highly recommend.
The house is in a great location and is great for big groups. The owner is lovely and very responsive. Unfortunately though the house needs lots of work. The day before we arrived the fridge broke down (the owner did replace it with an old fridge for our stay), the didhwasher didn’t work, there was a leak under the kitchen sink, the bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned properly and the oven only worked intermittently. Despite all this we did really enjoy our stay because the house is in a great spot and is big and roomy. The owner did try to come up with solutions to all the issues, but unfortunately I think they really just need to get some professionals in to fix a lot of the issues they have and then the place would be perfect!

Great location but a little tired - you’re paying for location and not the property
Joan was fantastic and very helpful. As the property was vacant prior to our booking we were able to check in early which was great with getting our toddler to sleep. The location itself is amazing. Easy access to the main estuary and Mandurah on water attractions. Also short drive into town. What let our experience down was a few things you can’t see from the photos of the property. Including outdoor furniture full of cobwebs and spiders (which we cleaned to use) but there are spiders and insects inside and outside the house. The house has a great layout and sleeping options. The bed in master bedroom is uncomfortable and we found we ended sleeping in different rooms to have a good night sleep. The ensuite to master bedroom has no shower screen or curtain and mould in shower. The shower head needs replacing as sprays out of shower. There are scuff marks and chunks out of walls that need repair. Many locks don’t work including the rear security screens. This meant we needed to cable tie the locks shut at night time in case our toddler got up early and explored outside. Many of the appliances in the house are quite old and not user friendly. No wifi and tv is not a smart tv. There is a old fridge taking up space in main living area that is not unusable. One of the bedrooms doesn’t have a door that shuts and appears to be a converted study. The air conditioning is evap and in hot weather it does struggle a bit and we had a couple of 35 deg plus today..
With views of the canals and 5 bedrooms, we found The Canal House to be perfect for our large group. Plenty of parking, outside seating and conveniently located. The lovely host, Joan, kept in contact and reminded us to bring our own linen. We would happily go back again.
Serene location, beautiful outlook, all the bits and bobs provided for a trouble free stay. Some maintenance required but did not interfere with holiday.
Spacious home suitable for 2 families. Fantastic views and use of private mooring.
We had a wonderful stay and utilised the boat ramp at the end of the street to use our dighy. Our children loved fishing off the jetty and paddling kayaks.
House has had new carpets and flooring laid which make it look fresh.

This was our second visit to this property which says a lot about our opinion. 3 families with 6 children were accommodated comfortably. Proximity to both the Mandurah foreshore and Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre enabled us to choose easily between eating out, or buying the ingredients and eating at the house. The private jetty enabled ease of access to the canals for our surf ski. This property 100% suited our needs in providing a relaxed, stress-free getaway from Perth.
