About this property

Asheville Suite. Five minutes to downtown. Fast WiFi. Off Street Parking

This hidden gem is a lower-level flat located just 1.4 miles from downtown. Close to everything in a quiet part of the city with mature trees, shared parking, and backyard. The apartment has a full kitchen and everything you need for a pleasant stay.

Enjoy a mountain escape within a few minute's drive of downtown, the River Arts District, West Asheville, and the Biltmore Estate.

You will likely hear noise from guests in the unit above.

The apartment has an open floor plan with a sunny kitchen and dining area. There's a cozy living room with a lounge chair and super comfy goose down sofa. The rug is extra padded for morning yoga or playing with the kiddos.

The home is on a quiet road. We have Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, Red Cardinals, Blue Jays, wild turkey, and lots of other wildlife AND you are a few minutes from anywhere in Asheville.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, modern sink, washer, and dryer. Most utensils are supplied as well as pots and pans, and a tea kettle. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a morning breakfast before heading out on adventures.

There is a coffee maker and fresh roasted coffee. The water is hot right away and there is a great shower head. It has AC window units in the living area and master bedroom. The other rooms stay cool naturally. There is high-speed internet. There's no smoking allowed.

There are two bedrooms with memory foam queen mattresses, and a third tiny bedroom with a queen mattress as well. Linens are supplied

Located on a low mountain right above downtown, breakfast opportunities abound, as well as major supermarkets, all less than 3 minutes from the house.

Downtown Asheville is just a 5-minute drive. You can walk over and down the mountain to town in about 25 minutes and then Uber home for around $8. West Asheville and the River Arts District are a 10-minute drive.

The Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village both neighbor the neighborhood and are just 2 miles away or about a 5-minute drive.

Just up the hill, you can find some great views of downtown and the far off mountains. There's also a mountain park with walking trails. It's a forested oasis just above the city. It's accessible from the house for walkers or runners who don't mind climbing, otherwise, there's parking at the trailhead.

Guests access the lower level of the home through the backyard, as well as the shared backyard and off-street parking.

You likely won't see me during your stay. I am always a call, text, or short drive away. I'm happy to offer local tips on where to eat, drink, dance, adventure, or curl up with coffee and a book.

Ask me how to find Asheville's newest improvement area, to see remarkable graffiti, hit a cafe, bike shop, skate park, brewery, food trucks and barbecue. I spend a lot of time exploring Asheville and can recommend the best food trucks, fun hangouts, breweries, live music, scenic drives and hiking trails. I'm also a lifelong cyclist and can set you up with road or mountain bike rides. Some of the best road rides in Asheville start right at our front door.

I'm always available for any concern that may come up and you will have my personal cell number.

The home is located in a historic, forested neighborhood, known for it's beautiful and eclectic old homes. Our quiet road attracts walkers, runners and cyclists from all over Asheville.

Views of downtown reward a short walk up the hill and another 15 minutes downhill will put you in the heart of Asheville. An uber costs around $6 for the same journey and usually comes within a few minutes.

If you want to sample handcrafted brews from the twenty some breweries just down the hill on the South Slope we recommend a 5-minute ride with Uber or Lyft. Driving is also an option and I can give you tips on parking downtown. The Biltmore estate is just across Biltmore Ave at the edge of the neighborhood. The Blue Ridge Parkway is close by as well the Grove Park Inn. It is possible to walk to town. There is climbing and descending on a quiet, mountain road with. The walk takes about 25 minutes.

Funky West Asheville and the River Arts District are a 10-minute drive.

For the more adventurous it's a scenic, wonderful walk to downtown that includes the 100-year old Helen's Bridge, views of the city and mountains, the Edible Gardens and a pedestrian bridge that drops you right into the heart of downtown at Pack Square.

The home is centrally located between iconic downtown Asheville with it's award winning restaurants and vibrant street life and Tunnel Rd offering major supermarkets and anything else you might need for your vacation. You won't be wasting precious vacation time driving long distances from this central Asheville home.

Fun Fact: Helen's Bridge just up the road, was featured in Thomas Wolfe's novel, Look Homeward Angel.

"As they went under the shadow of the bridge Eugene lifted his head and shouted. His voice bounded against the arch like a stone. They passed under and stood on the other side of the gap, looking from the road’s edge down into the cove.”

Great for a girls trip!
We wanted something close to the Biltmore but not a hotel. This was the perfect solution. It was so cozy. Beds were great! Loved the little welcome message on the board! Only downside is you can hear the upstairs guest as this is a basement unit. Not a problem unless the ones upstairs don't realize how loud they are being. I would recommend adding a few additional chairs to the living room area. Overall a great choice for us!

Not what we had hoped for…
I booked this property for a weekend trip to Asheville. It looked great based on pictures and past reviews. Unfortunately we did not stay there more than an hour. Upon arrival there was an overpowering lemon scent in the house. We saw that there was a diffuser running so we turned it off. Then the lemon scent subsided but was replaced by a strong musty smell that bothered us and especially my daughter who has allergies. My wife went into the bathroom and while using the toilet, a large mole cricket jumped at her. She screamed and left and bathroom. I went in and killed the cricket and also found another one in the tub. Finally, there was stink bugs in the kitchen. We realized that all of these thing were just too much and could not see ourselves staying there overnight. We decided to contact the owner and left the property.

Great location!
This property was perfect for our needs. The space was clean, with a cool midcentury vibe. It is situated in hills above Asheville--you feel like you're in the mountains but, as the description states, you're a lovely 25 minute walk into town. We walked to Asheville in the morning, spent the day downtown, in coffee shops, book stores, art walk, brewery etc then walked home as the sun was setting (the walk back is a more strenuous uphill, FYI). Really a perfect day. The host is prompt with communication and eager to help with any request.

Why they chose this property

This property is very unique in Asheville. Until now visitors had to choose between being close to everything but in an urban, noisy rental with street parking or staying in a natural, quiet location far outside the city. Not anymore. Hideaway has it all. Located on a ridge bisecting the city it offers peace, quiet, birds and bears within a stone's throw of downtown and everything in Asheville.

What makes this property unique

1.5 miles from downtown. off-street parking, full kitchen, low pricing, open floor plan.
