About this property
Mountain location. Five minutes to downtown.
This charming, cozy mid-century modern home is located just 1 mile from downtown and 5 minutes from the entrance to the Biltmore Estate. Close to everything, centrally located on a quiet, forested mountain road with privacy and wildlife!
A lower-level vacation rental shares the driveway.
It is the perfect home base to explore Asheville. This is a unique property in the city. Enjoy a mountain escape within the heart of Asheville. We are just 10 minutes to the River Arts District and West Asheville.
This 6 time Super Host awarded property has an open floor plan with a sunny kitchen and dinette. There's a comfortable living room area with large windows looking out into the trees. A door off the dinette opens right onto the deck. Sunlight comes over the mountain and into the kitchen and deck for morning coffee.
The deck overlooks the shared yard and mountains beyond. The home is on a quiet road. We have Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, Red Cardinals, Blue Jays, wild turkey, and lots of other wildlife. Sit in the sunny dinette with built-in bench seating and to plan your day.
The home has a full kitchen with a gas stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, washer, and dryer. There is no oven for baking but there is a toaster oven. Most utensils are supplied as well as pots and pans, and a tea kettle.
There is a coffee maker, grinder, and fresh dark roasted coffee beans and teas. The water is hot right away and there is a great shower head. It has central AC and heat. There are six stairs to your private entrance. There is high-speed internet and a television with Roku.
There's no smoking on the deck unless doors and windows are closed.
There are three bedrooms with memory foam queen mattresses. People love our beds! Linens are supplied, a quilt, four hypoallergenic pillows, fluffy towels, and washcloths. Blinds block out the sun for late sleepers or get up early and watch the sunrise from the deck.
Entire home, private entrance, shared backyard, and off-street parking in the large driveway. The lower level apartment has its own entrance.
I live a few minutes away. I am very responsive via text or messages through the app. Feel free to call me as well. I generally don't meet my guests during their stay but am happy to make myself available.
Located on a low mountain between downtown and Tunnel Rd. the home is minutes from Biltmore, West Asheville, the River Arts District, and South Slope breweries. Breakfast opportunities abound, as well as a major supermarket, all less than 3 minutes from the house.
Downtown Asheville is just a 5-minute drive. You can walk over and down the mountain to town in about 25 minutes on a narrow, quiet road and then Uber home for around $7. West Asheville and the River Arts District are a 10-minute drive.
The Biltmore Estate and Biltmore village both neighbor the Kenilworth neighborhood and are just 2 miles away and about a 5-minute drive.
Windswept Drive is just up the hill offering some of the best views of the city found anywhere. There's also an access point to Beaucatcher Mtn Park, a mature forested oasis just above the city. It's accessible from the house for walkers or runners who don't mind climbing, otherwise, there's parking at the trailhead.
Lyft or Uber arrive in a few minutes and can take you most places in the city for $6 -$10. You can drive anywhere in the city in a few minutes. Downtown and Biltmore Estate are both less than 5 minutes away. There is a bus stop a short walk away.
You can walk to town in about 25 minutes. It's a beautiful walk off the mountain and into the city. I do it with my son and other parents use the road with strollers. Some guests have felt like the road is narrow and unsafe. The speed limit on the road is 25 mph and it's rare to see a car during the walk. It begins with a steep uphill and then it's downhill all the way to town.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with a stovetop gas range but no oven. There is a small apartment in the lower level with it's own entrance.

Why they chose this property
This property is very unique for Asheville. Located in the forested, historic Kenilworth neighborhood it feels far away but is just minutes from downtown.
It sits on Beaucatcher Mtn. which is right in the middle of the city of Asheville. A quiet mountain area that offers up views of the city from the top, a wonderful forested city park and the historic Helen's Bridge. The bridge is featured in local author, Thomas Wolf's novel, Look Homeward Angel and is a 5 minute walk up the hill.

What makes this property unique
We bought this house because it felt like we were living in the mountains but could still walk to town or ride our bikes to farmers markets. A major shopping area is less than 1 mile away on Tunnel Rd.
The neighborhood is quiet and very few cars pass by the house. The road is great for walking, running or cycling and attracts residents from all over the city. The mountain is the site of a proposed greenway. We have a great bird population and big trees ring the property.
