About this property
A harbourside four bedroom cottage with breathtaking views
Gull Cottage is an idyllic place to stay - a traditional and beautiful Grade II listed Cornish cottage occupying one of the most iconic locations in the area. It sits near the end of a small row of old Boscastle Harbour Cottages directly overlooking Boscastle's beautiful and historic harbour.
Situated on the south-facing side of the harbour the cottage is easily recognised by its distinctive boat-seat attached to the front of the house. The cottage's terrace is carved into the side of the harbour and is the perfect place to sit and relax, eat a meal or simply watch the sun go down.
Built around the end of the 1700s, Gull Cottage is in a very special area. It sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Area of Conservation and is in a designated conservation area. Nature and beauty is all around. The village is a short walk where there are cosy pubs, restaurants and coffee shops.
Downstairs is a comfortable lounge and a dining room with a good sized table - both rooms have a log-burning stove. There is also a kitchen and large, modern shower room.
Upstairs has a bathroom and four bedrooms: two doubles, a twin and one with bunk beds.
There are two parking spaces, one immediately outside the property and one to the rear in a car port - while this fits a family car, manoeuvring is a little tight!
The cottage is on the South West Coastal Path. From outside the cottage you can walk along the coast south to Tintagel, north to Pentagon Waterfall or walk the wooded path that follows the River Valency up and out of the valley.

About the host
Hosted by Steve and Louise Robinson

Steve and Louise live in North Hampshire in the UK. Having retired, they bought the cottage in Cornwall in December 2019 from a family who had themselves successfully run the cottage as a holiday home for over ten years. Steve has a life-long connection with the region with his family originating from Redruth in Cornwall.
The cottage serves as both a retirement business and somewhere for Steve and Louise to escape to: they hope it feels like a home-from-home to all those who stay there.
Steve and Louise have grown up children, all in the Hampshire area and all involved in making the cottage a great place to stay.

Why they chose this property
We looked for a property for two years - nothing ever came close to what we wanted, which was to open our doors on to the sea and immediately be among naturally beautiful countryside, until we saw Gull Cottage on a wet and blowy day. We instantly fell in love and the purchase was underway in hours. It one of the best decisions we've made. Coming from our home in a busy town, every time we arrive at the cottage we're blown away by the tranquillity and the beauty of Boscastle Harbour.
What makes this property unique
Natural beauty; from bright sunny skies to angry storms and everything in between. Short walks to pubs, restaurants, gift shops and long walks along the coast or in the river valley. Every water sport you can think of locally.
