About this property
Waterfalls-View-Pond. Secluded Vermont Log Cabin at Mount Snow. EV Outlet
This eco-friendly log cabin located in the heart of southern Vermont conveniently borders the Mount Snow Resort and Green Mountain National Forest. Next to the cabin, a cold water stream rushes down exposed bedrock into a shallow pool. Disconnect from the noise of daily life and relax to the sounds of the waterfalls from within the screened porch while taking in views of mountains and foliage. A long driveway with pond located midway ensures a quiet and peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, while also providing easy access to mountain resort activities, nearby town trails and restaurants.
The cabin is modern, energy efficient, and comfortable yet rustic and simple in design. Whole house heating and cooling is supplied to each room by a ducted geothermal heat pump. A fiber line and mesh router provides fast and reliable internet throughout the home. The cabin is also equipped with a fast charging electric vehicle outlet that provides up to 40 miles of charge per hour.
Connect to the house audio system on your device via Airplay. Speakers are located in the great room, loft, and kitchen. Cook food quickly and efficiently on the induction stove while enjoying your favorite tunes. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and dishes.
Smart and dimmable lighting is used throughout the cabin. Watch shows on the 60" TV located in the basement room, which uses Apple TV to provide access to Netflix and other streaming services - no cable.
The cabin has an open concept layout that is ideal for hanging out with friends and family. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a bathroom on each floor. Every bedroom has a window that opens towards the waterfalls.
The Valley Trail is located at the end of the cabin driveway on Handle Road. This trail leads to the trail network in Dover and to Mount Snow. The Valley Trail is great for hiking, biking, walking your dog, pickleball, and frisbee golf. In the summer and fall, Mount Snow offers scenic chairlift rides, events, hiking and mountain bike trails. In winter, snow-shoe through the back woods or ski to the cabin if there is enough snow in the woods. Experts only!
Historic homes, other trail heads, and the Hermitage Club ski resort are also located on Handle Road. Mount Snow is located .5 miles north of the cabin and the Hermitage Club is located is 2 miles to the south. The town of Dover is close by and the town of Wilmington is a 10 minute drive from the house. Restaurants, ski lifts, lodges, bars, golf courses, and shops are all easily accessible from here.
The forest behind the home has been conserved. Animal travel from the forest to the wetlands and river located across the street can make for interesting wildlife viewing. Beyond the woods surrounding the home is the Green Mountain National Forest. Somerset Lake, Grout Pond, Mount Snow, Haystack, Bromley, and Stratton are all located within the GMNF.
The cabin was sustainably constructed out of wood logs. It is all-electric with the exception of the clothes dryer. The energy mix of the grid power supplied to the home is 100% carbon free, sourced primarily from renewable energy. Drive your EV and enjoy a zero-emission vacation!
This cabin is ideal for travelers that want a private, modern, and peaceful place to comfortably experience nature. Enjoy quiet nights by the outdoor fire pit accompanied by the rush of the nearby stream as frogs peep throughout the night.
I hope you have a wonderful visit to this Vermont cabin getaway!

About the host

I live in southern Vermont and am located nearby so as to be able to assist with any issues that may arise.
Why they chose this property
The cabin is walking distance to Mount Snow, either through the woods or along the Handle Road, but far enough away to be separate from the noise and activity of the resort and road. Carinthia lodge, Two Tannery restaurant, Snow Mountain supermarket, Dover Bar and Grill, the Snow Barn, and ski lifts are all less than 3/4 mile from the house. It is close to hiking and biking trails, historic homes, and the Hermitage Club.
The Green Mountain National Forest is accessible from the back forest or from a public trail located a short distance south on Handle road. Across the street, the North Branch of the Deerfield River runs through the Tannery Wildlife Refuge, a conserved forested area.

What makes this property unique
Surrounded by forest and streams, this southern Vermont mountain retreat is great for exploring nature during all seasons.
In the springtime, the sounds of the rushing waterfalls creates an exciting soundscape. Walk down the driveway and the sounds shift from waterfalls to frogs peeping at the pond. Here amphibians cheep in chorus as they gather to lay eggs. During the summer, wild flowers grow tall in the field. After a hike or bike ride, brief dips into the shallow cold water stream pool are exhilarating and can be therapeutic. In Autumn, the views of the foliage from the front porch are spectacular. Explore the back forest on snowshoes or ski back to the cabin if there is enough snow in the woods in winter.
The cabin is all-electric and zero emission with the exception of the gas dryer. Grid power supplying electricity to the home is sourced primarily by renewable energy. The home was constructed out of sustainable materials - logs. As well, fixtures, furniture, and other building materials were repurposed and reused throughout the build.
