Step back into the 60's!
Original 60's architecture, 5 houses from the Semaphore beach (2 mins walk). and less than 3 minutes walk to Semaphore Rd which has more than 15 restaurants, 8 cafes, 2 supermarkets (one 7am to 9pm,) a cinema complex and more! Across the Port River is Port Adelaide with many historical sites, river cruises, Art Galleries and dolphin watching from canoes.
Five kms north of Semaphore is the North Haven Yacht Club and on Sundays the fruit and vegetable market is open from 7am to 12 midday. You also have fresh fish sold straight off the boats from the previous nights catch!
Additional rules and policies:
$170 for one bedroom, $40 for use of 2nd bedroom even if there are only two guests.
If you wish to have the pool area for a private function book it in advance for $120 for the day. if you wish to have the pool area just to yourself it is possoible however you need to negotiate this with your host. Monica.

This "Getaway" is idyllic, in a quiet side street, hidden from the main traffic, secluded and peaceful yet only 10 minutes' walk from the activity hub of Semaphore.We love the ambience where we can relax and be ourselves. Kitchen had all we needed. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Water was hot for our showers. Loved our visit.

Monica was a wonderful host; very kind & thoughtful. When she found out it was our daughter's birthday, she went out of her way to make it really special. The backyard was magical...you have to see it to understand why! The weekend we stayed was very hot, so it was a real bonus being able to cool off in the pool.

Retro Getaway was fine but basic, somewhat grubby and poorly maintained. Host Monica was friendly. A tenant lived in part of the complex. He occupied the only working seating in the outside area for our entire 3 day stay. He was unfriendly, and acted like he was entitled, We left early because we felt very uncomfortable. OK to stay but don't expect to be able to use the advertised outside area.

The accomodation is cleaned by a professional cleaning company. I inspect the place after each clean. The place was very clean on the arrival of this guest and his wife. 'Sea Retro Getaway' was built in 1960. It has the original retro decore. Older houses and apartments will never have what this couple were expecting- shiny, sterile white floors and sufaces as in the most recently built, expensive, international hotels. The interior design is original 1960s retro not 2025 contemporary. This couple probably needed to book a modern hotels for their holiday however they would have to be prepared to pay a lot of money. There actually is a small private front yard with a garden, seating and table and also a small backyard also with seating,table, washing machine etc. Both these spaces are private to the accomodation. The large backyard with a pool is as with the majority of hotels a communal area and is advertised as such. Its the first time in 5 years that another guest was enjoying this communal area. If the couple had notified me of their disappointment at having to share it I could have arranged the other guest to give them their privacy. If these guests read the description before booking they could have made a more informed choice for their holiday.

Fantastic location

The property was so close to the beach, in a very quiet area. Also close to shopping strip, with cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. Fenced backyard for dogs. Landlady was lovely.

Highlight of our trip

We had a great time at Sea Retro Getaway. Monica was helpful and a good laugh the whole time and the place was full of character and looked like something out of a movie. Afternoon spent by the pool in the sunshine was bliss. Also well located with beach and Semaphore all a few minutes walk away.
