My place, a custom build from HGTV-featured tiny house builder Randy Jones, is on a ridge with unparalleled, 270-degree views of Grandfather Mountain, all three area ski resorts, and on in to Tennessee and Virginia's Mount Rogers. We're located 20 minutes from Boone and West Jefferson, and closer than that to the Blue Ridge Parkway and New River activities like fishing and tubing. If you've considered downsizing, or you just want to give living tiny a try for a getaway, this is the place!
The tiny house is in a quiet spot on top of a hill with just four other properties (a second tiny house on wheels and two small, stick-built cabins). Alone, the tiny house is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with a kid or two), and dogs. You can rent the whole mountain top for events. Combined, the four properties can accommodate 16 people.
The tiny house features wifi, a smart TV, a stocked kitchen with a real range and fridge. The spacious bathroom is stocked with toiletries and linens. There is a sleeping loft accessed by steps, no ladder required, and two sofas that convert to beds. The space is cooled and heated efficiently by a mini-split heat pump. There are lots of windows to enjoy your surroundings as well as a deck with a custom bench and table made from reclaimed materials.
In the event of snowfall, four-wheel drive and experience driving in snow is an absolute must to go the last 1/2 mile or so to the house. If significant snowfall is forecast for your stay and you do not feel comfortable trying to access the property, you will be offered a full refund. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you could definitely hike in the last bit.

This place is great! The host isn’t kidding about the views and it’s well-equipped. VRBO required filling out the ski rating, so I gave 5 stars for the location but can’t comment on access or snow since it wasn’t in season when I stayed.

Thanks so much for your five-star review! You can see the ski slopes in the distance--haha--not sure why they asked you to rate the skiing.
It was so nice to get away in-joy a get away off the beaten path. It turned really cold while we were there however it was nice to have somewhere that was warm and cozy and out of the way and enjoy yourself. Thank you David for outstanding time again thank you.
Everything was spectacular. Just remind the cleaning crew to change the pillow cases. Other than that, it was a perfect stay. We will definitely be back :-) our husky was in heaven and so were we! Relaxed and recharged for the work week ahead.

Thanks for your five-star review, Elisa! It is definitely our policy to change ALL linens between guests, so I will check into that pillow case concern. I wish you had messaged during your stay so I was aware and could have addressed it!
Very cute, very small but space well optimized. Had everything needed. Appreciated the coffee and good internet. It was comfortable for 3 adults. Host gave great directions to the house. It was needed and appreciated.
This property was a great choice for a first-time stay in a tiny home. The drive up to the property is worth it for the beautiful view. The property beside it is closer than I thought but the guests staying there were friendly. The house was clean and was stocked with anything we could’ve needed. The host is great and provided all information we needed for our stay. The grass area in front of the property was perfect for a picnic dinner, and the loft area was so cozy and perfect for watching movies. We enjoyed our stay and would book again!

We enjoyed our stay at Dave’s place. The property was very clean and the views were amazing! Dave was also very accommodating to adding a couple of nights on to our stay. We highly recommend this property and hope to stay again, the next time we are in the area.

This was a great little property to enjoy the mountains. Conveniently located close to multiple cities/towns, yet just far enough away to give you that secluded feeling. Hopefully I'll be back soon!

Why they chose this property
Why this property? Unobstructed, long-range, layered mountain views! And if that's not enough, tiny houses are really cool and you should stay for the experience. Everyone loved it at its old location in Todd, NC.
