Located in the very heart of Takaka township, this charming, comfortable three bedroom house is a great base for exploring the extraordinary natural environment of Golden Bay. Stroll or bike through the small town and enjoy cafes, restaurants, galleries and the Movie Theatre. Wake to the pleasant sounds of the Saturday Village Market, buy your fresh produce and meet the local characters. Come, stay and play. We would like you to enjoy your stay in Golden Bay.
This family friendly, fully fenced property is close to a wonderful playground, a skate park and the library. The pleasant outdoor living area provides a cozy place to relax.
There are plenty of great places to explore in and around Takaka. There is the famous Wholemeal Cafe, The Dangerous Kitchen which serves delicious pizzas and other excellent food, the Roots Bar sells craft beers, tapas and burger. These places are walking distance from the house. You can drive a bit and visit the famous Mussel Inn which is an awesome place for beer and a meal. There are many fabulous beaches in Golden Bay. You could go kayaking, paddle boarding, horse riding, walking in The Abel Tasman National Park, swim at the beaches or in rivers, go fishing, visit the purest springs in the Southern Hemisphere, walk to Wharariki beach and observe seals.

Great time in Takaka

This property was great- homely and comfortable with everything we needed. Right in the middle of town, close to good food and coffee it was perfectly placed. Would definitely stay again!

Central Location

This is a great house right in the center of town—walking distance to the restaurants, cafes, and supermarket. We loved using the wood stove in the lounge room, as it was a little cold while we were there.

The place was well looked after. We enjoyed our stay very much. Owner was lovely and helpful. Gave it a four rather than a five as the beds were too soft for us.

Relaxing stay in Takaka

We loved our stay in this very relaxing townhouse. It has everything you need and a wonderful location, so close to town and lots to explore in the area. Ute is an excellent host and we appreciated receiving lots of helpful information. It was wonderful to bring our little dog. We would love to stay here again. Highly recommend!

Great place for my toddler and my mother! Well equipped kitchen for cooking at home, lovely host who was friendly and very happy to help with extra requests. Great to have high chairs and a cot. Awesome playground just behind the house too. Hopefully will be back. :)

Making Memories in Golden Bay

There is so much to explore in Golden Bay, with Takaka being such a central location. With this house being so central within Takaka - so close to cafes and restaurants, and having all we needed for a great holiday - including a sleepout for the teenagers. From Salmon fishing to great beaches to clothe shopping with a hippie vibe. All around a great five days. Would be keen to stay again.

Takaka delight

We really loved staying here despite an initial surprise at there not being a tv or microwave. The host quickly sorted the microwave and with so many games and magazines to read we certainly didn’t miss tv. It made it a real break. The host was very friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend this place.

Our stay was everything we needed. The house was warm and clean and quiet.The sleepout was an unexpected bonus and so cosy. Lovely home base

The property was great. The location is central. We didn't find it that easy to find intially, as there is a vine covering the fence, so it doesn't appear as the photo in the listing. But we found it in the end. There was a Saturday market at our door which was lovely. We had to move our car for that, which was not a problem. Ute is a lovely helpful host. We lacked a piso for lighting the gas and a tea strainer and she got those to us which was great.

Back to basics in Golden Bay.

This property gives you a great chance to step back in time and experience earlier life in Takaka. Beautiful wooden floors and high ceilings are supported with a powerful fireplace and heat pump. Get back to nature, cooking over gas rather than using microwave, and crack open a book rather than use wifi. The main bedroom is fairly quiet after 9:30pm when the neighbouring asian restaurant turn off their cooking gear. Bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to street lights, as the carpark behind the property is lit throughout the night. We enjoyed five sunny days in Takaka, trips around the coast and mooching about the main streets. It's worth a short stay here in the middle of 'town', before heading out to the coasts for a seaside escape. Very good communication, and and always, grateful to be able to bring our dog.

Privater Ort mitten in der Stadt

Die Wohnung ist wirklich toll gelegen. Wir mussten erst etwas suchen, aber mit der Beschreibung von der Vermieterin war es kein Problem. Die Wohnung ist familiär eingerichtet und somit auch gemütlich. Wir haben es genossen, waren leider nur 2 Nächte dort. Beim nächsten Urlaub würde ich ganz klar wieder buchen !

Wonderful home!

This house had everything! Beautiful character home. Roomy, with a lovely verandah and tranquil garden, but so close to the action on Commercial Street. We prepared our Christmas dinner here and the kitchen was very well equipped. We hope to return one day!
