About this property

SKY RIVER CABIN- VIEWS, CLOSE TO HIKING

OUR CABIN SITS ON THE BANK OF THE S. FORK OF THE TYE RIVER (aka SKYKOMISH RIVER S. FORK) WITH A SWEEPING NATURAL VIEW ACROSS THE RIVER CHANNEL OF 5,000' BECKLER PEAK AND THE WILD SKY WILDERNESS in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Nearby activities include hiking, biking, rafting & kayaking, rock climbing, birdwatching, mushrooming, exploring the lakes and waterfalls and historic areas around Stevens Pass, historic Skykomish and Index, or just relaxing to the sound of the river or a crackling fire.

THIS CABIN IS CUTE AND PERFECT FOR 1-3 COUPLES OR A FAMILY TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL! The living area is bright and cheery, with lots of windows looking across the river to the mountain wilderness beyond. The hardwood floors and wood paneling give the place a rustic feel, and you'll love curling up in front of the fire on our comfy leather furniture for conversation, a glass of wine, or a good book or a movie. The living room opens to a deck on the river bank with a table and six chairs and a gas BBQ to facilitate outdoor meals or projects. The dining area views the greenery and the river by day or a roaring fire at night, and is perfect for after-dinner games or even doing a little work using our high-speed internet access & wifi. The fully equipped kitchen is newly updated to feature modern appliances and a beautiful granite countertop so that guests can visit while the chef prepares the feast.

The three bedrooms each feature a queen-size bed, reading lamp(s) and a dresser and/or closet for storage, and a couple of airbeds can be arranged for children to sleep in their parents room if desired. The main bathroom downstairs has a double sink separated from the toilet & shower, with beautiful stone tile and a luxurious heated floor throughout. Another half-bath and toilet are upstairs. The mudroom is perfect for washing and/or drying wet or muddy clothing after a day out-of-doors, and includes a full washer-dryer.

Enjoy a BBQ on the deck or an evening campfire under the stars, listening to the river.

Wildlife lovers will enjoy an ever-changing 'show' starring the occasional Bald Eagle or Osprey, wild ducks (harlequins, mergansers and wood ducks), water ouzels, swallows, swifts, nighthawks, etc., and laugh as the Rufous Hummingbirds joust for territory and mates. Squirrels, chipmunks, and racoons live on the property and at various times Black Bears, Coyotes, Otters, Mink, Beaver and Deer have visited, and we regularly observe coho salmon spawn in the channel in front of our cabin. Early spring is especially nice if you like hummingbirds, frog choruses, and native wildflowers.

Reservations are accepted from non-smokers only as our home is a smoke free environment, and damage penalties will be assessed for non-compliance. Pets are fine, and there is a nice stake-out area.

Cozy rustic lil cabin
We had a lovely stay at this cabin! The owners were extremely communicative with the local wildfires throwing a wrench in our original plans, and were very accommodating and flexible with dates and times as we were trying to work around the Highway 2 closure. The cabin is super cozy and very peaceful. We didn't even need to light a fire in the fireplace because the cabin retains heat so well. The box fans in the bedrooms were perfect! The downstairs bathroom is wonderful with a heat fan and good ventilation. Kitchen was well stocked and had pretty much everything we needed. Be sure to bring some unsalted peanuts, as there are a few sets of Steller's Jays that wait patiently every morning for goodies at the bird feeder on the back porch :) The only tiny nitpicks were that the bedrooms upstairs had several cobwebs and spiders we ran into while walking into the rooms and a couple dead bugs here and there on linens so it seems like no one had stayed up there in a bit. The only other thing is the pillows are all super thin, so if you get neck pain like I do, be sure to bring your own! All in all a very relaxing and lovely stay!

About the host

Host profile image
We met climbing and skiing with the Mountaineers, and we still love to get out into the mountains all seasons of the year.

Why they chose this property

Since we're located on the river bank with a view across the Skykomish River to Beckler Peak, our cabin is a great place to relax. At the same time, our location provides easy access to the entire Skykomish River Valley, up to Stevens Pass, and all the way to Leavenworth.

What makes this property unique

There's nothing better after a day of hiking or skiing than to relax on our deck looking across the river to Beckler Peak and the Wild Sky Wilderness!
