About this property
Paradise by the beach
This is a beautiful 5 bed, 3 bath home that sleeps 12. It is located just steps from famous Hukilau Beach, and within walking distance from BYU Hawaii. There is a washer and dryer, two living rooms, office and much more. Enjoy a sunrise stroll on the beach, spend the day at the PCC, or explore the North Shore- the possibilities are endless.
Downstairs there is one bedroom with a queen size bed we will call this bedroom #1. There is also alittle office space, a bathroom in the hall that has a shower, the kitchen, a dining space, and a living room.
Upstairs are 4 more bedrooms. Bedroom #2 has a Queen and a twin bed. Bedroom #3 has 3 twin beds. Bedroom #4 has a Cal King. Bedroom #5 we will call the primary which has a Cal king bed and an ensuite bathroom with a tub and a shower. Bedrooms #2-4 share a bathroom in the hall which has a tub/shower combo. There is also a laundry room and another living room.
The home is set up sort of like a duplex and we rent out to a few college students on the left side of the home. There is no interior access between the homes. Two of your rooms (Bedrooms #2 and #3) are above the neighbors. Since bedroom #3 with the twin beds is usually used by kids we ask that you just be courteous of any stomping early in the mornings or late at night.

Close to the beach, a nice cafe, and a little market. It is in a quiet community that is just a few minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center, a great food truck place and other local sites. House itself is great for a large group with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms.
We were two families of four and the house was more that sufficient for us. The location was great and it was an easy drive to everything we wanted to do on the North Shore. Adam was great to work with about the property.
The house gave enough room for our family to spread out. The check in and out process was very easy and they even let us have a late check out when our flight was delayed. The beach is a short walk away and there were beach toys available for the kids.
We were a group of nine and had plenty of room in this spacious home. So close to a beautiful beach - my kids loved it! Owner was extremely communicative and accommodating - we were so thankful when he assisted above and beyond with a couple of things. I highly recommend :)
The house is amazing and so close to the beach. The person in charge of taking care of things at the house, Adam is beyond helpful and very kind. I would recommend this home to anyone, especially large families . The neighbor across the street was also amazing.
We had an amazing stay this home! It was our family (10 of us) Christmas trip and home’s amenities served us well. The only minor downside was that the outside trash cans were mostly full when we started our weeklong vacation there. We loved the open space, kitchen, AC, location, easy check in and check out, great communication with Adam, and many other things!
There are few rental options on the north shore. A beach and grocery stores are nearby. Note that this is in a pretty Conservative party of the island and is in a dry county - but it’s a short drive to the next town.
House is big and good for groups - just a bit dark and they prefer for windows to be kept close, so don’t expect an “airy island home”

Thank you Jared. Yes we prefer the windows closed as being so close to the ocean the salt air corrodes everything very fast.
Amazing Home, close to everything on the North Shore and the beach
This home was plenty for 8 adults. In a quiet neighborhood close to the PCC, LDS Temple, and Hukilau Beach. We could make it to all the North Shore beaches in 20 minutes or less. Nice Island vibes to the decor.
Would have liked some instruction on how to use the appliances because the labels were worn off -especially the oven. Drains could use some cleaning so they flow better. Upstairs toilets struggled with flushing. All minor inconveniences compared to the nice place.
The house is a bit older, but perfect for a big family. We played games at the table, ate and cooked together, and everyone still had a place they could go for quiet time.
Right across the busy road is the beach and the kids wanted to go everyday. Perfect for boogey boarding, walking, sun tanning, and just bobbing in the ocean.
House is in a great location, just minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center, about 40 minutes from Dole and other fantastic beaches where you can snorkel or surf (or watch the surfers).
The roosters bugged my son so bring some ear plugs. Cafe across the road is great for takeout.
Beds are bit soft, house is a little older, but accommodated our family and we would return there.
Loved the two TV rooms! Twelve families members were able to spred out and it wasn't crowded. It was very clean. The manager was quick to respond with small needs as they arose. Appliances need updated as writing on oven, coffee pot and dishwasher were worn off. It was a guessing game to operate. The dryer didn't seem to heat properly, but overall, were able to use all appliances. It was close to the beach for walking and easy for our children and Seniors to access. Overall would recommend for a large group!
The house was beautiful and the perfect size for our group of 12. We had members in our group going in and out during different times, so it was nice that everyone had their own space. They had a lot of beach toys in the outdoor closet/shed for us to use, so that was great! I loved that there was a washer and dryer in the house, and the kitchen was a nice and big area for us to enjoy meals at.
There were just a few things I wished they had. There were no bath rugs, so we had to use the beach towels they provided as bath rugs, grateful we had packed our own beach towels. Also, there was no broom and dustpan which I think may have been accidentally been locked up by the cleaners. The tv remote upstairs either wasn’t working or missing; I can’t remember what my husband told me when he tried to watch tv upstairs, but it was ok since we didn’t watch much tv. Other than that, everything was perfect! They even had 3 parking spots for us in the driveway which was awesome. The property manager was awesome and responded quickly. We loved the home!
We loved staying at this house. It fit the 10 of us very well. We loved being able to walk to the beach and being on the North Shore. The house was clean and spacious. We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay. at the house in Laie and the 3-minute walk from the house to Hukilau Beach. The house was very clean and roomy for the ten of us. The house is only a 10-minute walk to the Laie Hawaii Temple and BYU-Hawaii campus and a 10-minute drive to the exceptional Polynesuan Cultural Center. We felt the Aloha spirit in the community of Laie.

Not Quite Paradise by the Beach
This house may once have been a paradise, and perhaps it could be again, but it needs significant repairs.
Positives:
It was large enough for our party of 12.
It was within easy walking distance to Laie Beach (Hukilau Beach)
There was easy access to a walking trail west toward Kahuku.
The kitchen was large, with a large island and open to a dining area with a table large enough for 10.
The house was air conditioned.
There were nice seating areas with couches and TVs on both levels.
Negatives:
The railings on the outside decks off the upstairs bedrooms were failing and were a safety hazard.
One of the outside lights for the door to the outside deck had corroded and fallen, leaving its corpse surrounded by broken glass on the deck. The other outside lights were also badly corroded but hanging on.
The doors for a ground-level storage area for beach chairs and toys were rotted and had separated from two of the four hinges.
The heavy entry gate scraped the ground.
The mailbox post had fallen since the picture in VRBO was taken.
The house was wired for smoke detectors, but all had been removed.
Several light bulbs were missing or burnt out. One generated a strong electrical smell as it expired, which caused some concern.
The washing machine in the laundry room was badly out of balance. Fortunately another machine, located outside for use by tenants of an attached apartment, was available.
The built-in microwave did not work (a counter-top unit was provided).
The numbers surrounding the knobs on the built-in convection oven had been worn off and no user's manual was available. Use was by trial and error.
We did notify the property manager of these issues, and he did respond where he could (checked out electrical smell, replaced light bulbs, replaced battery in the coded door lock).
In summary, the house did cause some frustrations, but did not prevent us from enjoying Hawaii.
This home was big and clean and neat an awesome beach. Beds were comfortable. Loved the air conditioning. There were no kitchen consumables like spices or ziplock bags but the home has everything else we needed. Adam was very responsive of our needs.
This was a well-executed rental. Adam could not have been more helpful. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a stress-free rental in Hawaii. House was Immaculate and well maintained, and we found the house just as it was listed both in the narrative and the photos. Parking can be a challenge any place in Hawaii and this was no exception (we did have 4 cars, so.....) but the students next door were very gracious, kind and accommodating. House sits 700 feet from s the beach and afforded us the opportunity to view some of the most beautiful sunrises I've seen in my life.
The rental was everything we could have asked for.
Had an amazing vacation with 6 friends. Place is in an amazing location on north shore very close to Polynesian cultural center. Well stocked with surf boards and boogie boards!
Place was clean but not hotel clean. I didn’t mind but some of my pickier friends complained. Quiet hours start at 10 pm, so don’t go here if you are trying to throw a frat party.
I really appreciated the communication from the owner. He was very on point, answering all questions and texts but not overbearing.
Honestly I loved this weird house and had such an amazing location.
