This is our second time staying at this property. We’re going to be going annually if available for my partners birthday. It’s clean and quiet and just the peace and relaxation we need. We really love this property.
Property is the perfect place to unwind. We were able to go to a few nearby antique stores and restaurants before the snow arrived. Then settled in and enjoyed.
Digger’s Den was the perfect location for a weekend getaway with my husband and our pup. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely! Mr Powell stopped in Saturday morning to introduce himself and to make sure everything was going well. We mostly hung out at the cabin (and it was fantastic with all of its comforts of home) with the exception of a short trip into downtown Mifflinburg to visit the local shops and have a wonderful meal at the Rusty Rail, all just a few miles away on Saturday afternoon. If the need to “escape” ever arises again, I will definitely be checking the availability of this little gem of a place!!
Cabin is practically right on the creek and the location is everything. It is a rustic cabin with modern amenities. Beds were comfortable and clean. Bath was clean. Water pressure is on low side and fresh water for the coffee was provided. Wood for the fire was provided. We would have liked somewhere to put our food as all the cabinets were full of dishes, etc., and there was an ant issue. Grill utensils were dirty and we washed dishes before using them as they were dusty. There are cabins on either side and a road right in front. Penn's Creek is right off the deck. Hot tub was fabulous at night. You really can't beat the scenery.
My son and i stayed here for two nights to attend a penn state game (1 hr away) It IS a fishing cottage--pretty rustic but it suited us just fine.Beautiful surroundings we didnt have time to enjoy. Rusty rail close by has great food and beer!
Very peaceful and a nice getaway
Very responsive property owner a lot of items are given to you to borrow which was nice. Overall very happy with our stay and will definitely stay there again!
My fiancé and I went for a weekend stay. This place is rustic and relaxing! Perfect location on Penns Creek. The hot tub was amazing. Weather wasn't that great when we went but we made the best of it. The host stopped by to make sure everything was ok, very nice and personable gentleman! We will definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your amazing cabin!
Very much enjoyed location. Watched the trout feed, ducks and geese. Close to many State parks with nice hiking, used the canoe and see potted an eagle soaring. The hot tub was awesome as was the fire pit. I would advise people bring drinking water, and the homeowner may want to move the wood pile to make it an easier path to walk in the dark from the fire pit. Suggest out side light near the drive way.
Great little cabin on Penns creek. Met all our needs for a short weekend to meet up with our daughter & her boyfriend. Best part, we were able to bring our four legged friends. We really enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit enjoying the view of the creek & really appreciated the wood burning stove when we went inside.
Also plenty of places to go out to eat/ visit very close by. We went to the Rusty Rail, Scarlett D's, Boomerang's & a bunch of farms that sold candles, crafts, etc. Had a great time at all.
We'll definitely be back.
I definitely had peace and quiet... since my phone didn't work out there.... however, its nice to get away from the normalcy of everyday life.
I had a great time on the creek, and the town is right near by, so everything is within driving range. If you like wineries, there is one within 10 minutes, and a distillery in 15 minutes.
There were some issues, however the owner would keep in contact whenever we had a problem, very communicative.
The most DIRTIEST cabin we’ve ever stayed at. Had to clean the fridge just to use it. The kitchen sink n faucet were soooo very grody. We went n bought a new coffee maker just so we could have clean coffee, Ended up eating out our entire stay, Wasn’t trusting using anything in that kitchen. The water smelled so horrible and we had to shower with that crap. The toilet water even had a constant dingy tint to it. Exactly what you wanna wash your hair, face n body with huh? We showered and our skin smelled like rotten eggs our entire stay and we are clean people. I love eggs but I surely don’t wanna smell like them, especially not rotten eggs. Ugh! Texted Martha about it and she didn’t care, no apologies what so ever, just said there’s nothing we can do about it, which is a lie cause we stayed at a super clean cabin down the road from this one 2 yrs in a row and she fixed her smelly water for us. Only reason we tried Digger’s Den is because the clean one down the road was all booked up. The pictures for this cabin are very deceiving and they surely don’t warn you of the nasty smelling water in the listing. The ceiling of the one bedroom is so dirty and we found potato chips in and on the couch. Hot tub was the cleanest thing at Digger’s Den but the best part of our stay was the fishing opportunity out back. They definitely don’t clean this place or take any pride in it. I’d post pictures as proof to all I’m saying, but Vrbo doesn’t give ya that option which sucks.
Hot tub was great, especially right by the water. I love sitting by the creek and enjoying the silence. The cabin is close enough to town to hit the grocery store without hassle, but far enough away to enjoy solitude.
We had a very nice stay. Appreciated the luggage racks for our suitcase and the closet helped with hanging clothes. Direct communication with the host made the stay complete.
Very enjoyable 3 day vacation, really enjoyed sitting on the deck relaxing and watching nature at it's best. The cabin met all our needs and we are planning on returning in the future.
This is our second time staying at Diggers Den and we enjoyed just as much as the first. Cabin has everything we needed and the location is amazing. Peaceful & quiet! Loved sitting on the deck, relaxing in the hot tub, and my husband loves being able to fish from right outside the back door.
This was a wonderful 4 day get-away with the dogs. The creek is so close you can feel the cooler breeze from the water. You can fish right from deck if you want to.The fire-pit was excellent with wood provided. And the hot-tub was clean and so relaxing. We got the excitement of seeing a black bear and watched as it swam across the river. The water was little high and muddy when we were there but it after a week of rain. The bed slept very comfortable and the sheets were nice. It is a cabin and nothing fancy but definitely everything you need. The owner was very kind and helpful. A good value.
