Wunderschönes französisches Cottage in absoluter Traumlage!

Wir waren für eine Woche Gäste bei Didier. Er hat uns sehr nett empfangen, uns alles gezeigt und war jederzeit für Rückfragen zur Stelle. Das Anwesen liegt in einer malerischen Umgebung. Wir haben uns sehr gut erholt, die Ruhe und die Landschaft haben ihren Teil dazu beigetragen. Das Cottage lässt keine Wünsche offen, Didier hat hinsichtlich der Ausstattung wirklich an alles gedacht: Föhn, ausreichend Handtücher, Seife, ein paar Kaltgetränke im Kühlschrank,...um nur eine Auswahl zu nennen. Es ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und wir haben die Abende am offenen Kamin sehr genossen. Der Wellnessbereich ist direkt angrenzend und es war sehr schön, dass wir feste Zeiten hatten, sodass wir bei der Nutzung unter uns waren. Man teilt sich den Bereich mit den Gästen der Lodge und des anderen, kleinen Cottages, was aber aufgrund der großzügigen Verteilung der Nutzungszeiten zu keinen Problemen geführt hat. Wir hatten unseren Hund dabei und können die Unterkunft für Hundebesitzer sehr empfehlen. Die große Wiese ist ideal zum Spielen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, vielen Dank noch einmal für die schöne Zeit!

Idyllic family retreat in manicured surroundings

Didier has created a truly fantastic balance of beauty, serenity and comfort in his property and the love he puts into it shines through. When we needed anything he responded within minutes and spending 2 weeks here felt so easy and natural, which is not obvious with a 2 year old away from home and all your normal set up! We cannot wait to return.....literally.....we're already planning when.

Wir sagen herzlichen Dank an Didier, ein perfekter Gastgeber. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und Didier hat uns alles gezeigt. Sehr haben wir uns über die Aufmerksamkeiten zur Ankunft gefreut. Der Gadtgeber war jederzeit erreichbar und selbst ein kleiner WLAN Defekt wurde innerhalb weniger Stunden behoben. Die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen, alles war vorhanden, sogar eine Eiswürfelmaschine. Alles ist sehr gepflegt und sauber. Wir waren bereits zum zweiten Mal in dieser wunderschönen Unterkunft und würden auch gern wieder unseren Urlaub hier verbringen. Ausflugsziele sind gut zu erreichen, wobei ein Auto schon erforderlich ist. Dafür genießt man die absolute Ruhe der Abgeschiedenheit und kann sich wunderbar erholen. Betoverende rust.

Bij binnenkomst werden wij aangenaam verrast door de weidsheid van het terrein en de charme van ons huis. Door de eigenaren Didier en Monique werden wij hartelijk verwelkomd. Later hadden we nog een gezellige borrel met ze. Wij kunnen eenieder een verblijf aanbevelen.

Nous avons passé un excellent week-end prolongé à Tordouet! Didier nous a très bien accueilli et a été très attentif à ce que nous passions un bon séjour. La décoration est très soignée, l’environnement très calme et nous avons également bien pu profiter du SPA. Expérience à renouveler !

Warm hospitality in a delightful barn conversion

We felt at home as soon as we arrived. This barn conversion has been lovingly and creatively done to a high standard while retaining many original features. Places to sit and relax indoors and out, lovely views, well located for many highlights of Normandy. friendly horses, petanque with evening drinks. An on-site spa, sauna and hot tub. And a generous and attentive host in Didier. We had a wonderful holiday.

Stunning property in rural Normandy

The photographs of the property really don’t do it justice. Our host was very welcoming, providing local products for us to enjoy during our stay and hosting us for drinks one evening. The property had everything we needed to be self sufficient and the supermarket and local stores in Orbec were great for getting food supplies. The beds were very comfortable, and there were fans in the rooms for warmer weather. The Nordic Bath was unfortunately damaged during a recent storm, but the hamam was excellent, and the spa area is lovely. A truly relaxing place to enjoy the Normandy region from, we only wish we had more time there.

Beautiful home in a stunning location.

This house is exceptionally beautiful and somehow is even better in real life than it is in the pictures. Crafted by Didier himself, you can see that the house has been a labour of love, he is so talented. We enjoyed a peaceful relaxing break here with our children and will be recommending this property to friends and family. Didier was a very welcoming host and took time to recommend places to visit during our stay and his recommendations were great. Highly recommend a stay here.

We've been in France for about 20 years and have been in several houses but this is the first time I give the house 5 stars. The house is lovely, warm, very quiet and the owner is really very friendly and respect your privacy. After one week we didn't want to leave and, lucky for us, it was possible to stay one more day. Perfekte Auszeit in malerischer Umbegung

Dieses einzigartige und wunderschöne Haus, ist wirklich ein ganz außergewöhnlicher Ort, um dem Alltag zu entfliehen. Wir sind als Familie mit zwei Erwachsenen und drei Kindern (12/12/9) angereist und wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Der Eigentümer ist ein perfekter Gastgeber, unkompliziert und engagiert. Infos im Vorwege, umfangreiches Material zur Umgebung und die besten Empfehlungen für Restaurants waren für uns sehr hilfreich. Außenanlagen, Haus und Spa-Bereich sind sehr gepflegt und sauber! Das Haus ist voll ausgestattet und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Das Anwesen bietet viel Platz für die Kinder. Tagsüber kann man einen wundervollen Ausblick sowie einen unglaublichen Spa-Bereich genießen. An kühlen Abenden bietet der Kamin einen Platz zum wohlfühlen. Das Haus wurde liebevoll und handwerklich geschickt renoviert. Im Inneren entfalten sich überraschend großzügige und reizvolle Raumfolgen und Ausblicke. Grundriss und alle Details sind gut durchdacht. Mit viel Sinn für Materialien, Farben und Licht ist ein Haus mit einer ganz eigenen warmen Atmosphäre entstanden. Tolle und interessante Ausflugsziele sind, von hier aus mit dem Auto, schnell zu erreichen. Doch so manchen Tag sind wir lieber am Haus geblieben und haben uns treiben lassen. Die Fahrräder sind klasse und eine nette Alternative zum Wandern. Gerne kommen wir wieder! Vielen Dank an unsere Gastgeber Monique et Didier.

Amazing restored gite in Pay d'Auge

We spent two wonderful weeks at Le Gîte de l'Ecurie and had an absolutely wonderful stay. From the booking to our last day, Monique & Didier provided outstanding hospitality throughout the entire process. The gite looks amazing in the photos on the website and even better in person. The gite (completely restored by our hosts) was beautifully finished both inside and out & perfectly maintained. The kitchen is adequately stocked including a dishwasher, stove, oven and pots & pans.The living area is open to the kitchen and extremely inviting - we had a crackling fire every night.The bedrooms are perfect for couples or two families sharing the stay: two bedrooms are accessible through one staircase and the other has its own separate staircase. Each has its own toilet & bath (though one is downstairs). The beds are extremely comfortable with lovely linens. The grounds are immaculate. The owner's house & a separate rental home are visible from the gite but they are not on top of each other so you get all the privacy you need. There are bikes available so you can explore the nearby town (hamlet) of Tordouet and surrounding farms. We were lucky enough to be invited to the main house on our first and last nights. The friendly welcome started our holiday perfectly - thoughtful recommendations for restaurants, markets and calvados. On the last night of our stay, we truly enjoyed our time with Monique & Didier - talking about what we had seen and what we still wanted to see - on our next trip to Normandy and Le Gîte de l'Ecurie.

Stunning property in a beautiful setting

We had a wonderful break here, luckily the weather was fabulous but even if it hadn't been, it wouldn't have mattered as the property was a true joy to stay put in. The interiors of the property really were an inspiration and Didier has put in a lot of thought and passion into every aspect of its design. The property looks out onto gardens and fields beyond and so it felt like a complete sanctuary. Didier and Monique were fantastic in every way, nothing was too much trouble and they were very hospitable without it feeling too intrusive. If you fancy dragging yourself away from the property, then there are some bikes you can use on the property or some lovely walks through the local woods (Tip - the spa next door is a welcome reward after a touch of exercise!). For pretty scenery try the cider route and for a little history, then the D-Day beaches aren't too far away. Overall, a lovely break, just wish we could have stayed a little longer!

Un petit paradis à 2h de Paris

Des prestations 5* pour ce magnifique gîte en pays d'Auge. Décoré avec un goût incroyable, alliant confort et authenticité, tout ce dont un peu rêver pour un petit week end en famille. Tout est fait par les propriétaires pour que votre séjour soit des plus reposant et agréable. L'accueil est formidablement chaleureux, les propriétaires faisant preuve d'une véritable gentillesse. Le Spa est magnifique et le jardin superbement entretenu. Les enfants ont pleinement profité de l'extérieur, pendant que les parents se prélassaient au coin du feu ou dans le Jacuzzi. La région regorge de petits villages merveilleux (le marché de Bernay est un must) et de magnifiques paysages. Il nous tarde déjà notre prochain séjour à l'Ecurie et le recommandons, en couple, en famille ou entre amis.

Beautiful surroundings

It was a beautiful house with beautiful surroundings. The owners were really nice and were kind enough to tell us something about the region. They told us where to get the best cidre and poirée and even invited us for a drink. The hot tub and spa were really nice and we had a great time in Normandy. There is a lot to be seen, Honfleur and Rouen are great cities and if you want to eat very good in the neighbourhood, go to Moulin du Fossard. The owners recommended it to us and it was indeed really nice. We had a great vacation and we really recommend this house.
