DETAILS:
A mix of modern and vintage, you will love lazing around this apartment's living area, with beautiful views of the property's gardens and fountain. Thoughtful touches, like dried lavender, aim to make your stay incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Curl up and read a book in our cozy, vintage leather cube lounger, or relax and watch Netflix on the beautiful velvet sofa.
Need to get some work done while you are staying with us? No problem! Fast wi-fi and a comfortable laptop desk make it easy to stay up to speed. When you are done working, grab a seat at the comfortable eat-in bar or watch TV -- Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ are included.
The kitchenette has all of your basic necessities covered: a convection toaster oven, microwave, mini fridge, and plenty of dishes and accessories. Start your days right with our fair trade, organic coffee. The burr grinder and French press make for a delicious cup of coffee. And, if coffee isn't your thing, we have a wide selection of herbal and caffeinated teas!
Enjoy the local artists on display on the gallery wall leading to the bathroom and bedroom.
The stylish, modern bathroom is stocked with plenty of towels, a hairdryer (with a diffuser), q-tips and cotton balls. And, if you forget your toiletries at home, don't worry! We supply organic, paraben-free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.
The bedroom has all you need for a comfortable stay. The bedroom walls are adorned with beautiful photography from both local and international artists. You will sleep flawlessly on the king-sized memory foam mattress and buttery eco-friendly sheets. Hang your clothes in the modern, industrial open closet, and enjoy the bedside lamp, which doubles as a bluetooth speaker. Hanging air plants breathe a bit of life into the bedroom. You can watch Netflix from bed on the smart Roku TV. And, on the closet shelves, you will find an iron and ironing board if you need to take care of any pesky wrinkles during your stay. Laundry is also available in the basement, should you need to wash anything while you are with us.
Step outside the apartment's front door, and you will find your own outdoor dining space on the front porch. Sip your coffee with a view of the grounds. Or, if you want to spread out, lounge on the front porch's spacious sectional. The front porch looks out over the property's historic heron fountain. The heron fountain -- one of three water features on the property -- creates a peaceful atmosphere in the front yard.
The Property:
The mansion, named Eden Brae, was built in 1910, and is situated on Cliff Road, one of the most desirable and walkable residential streets in the city of Birmingham. It has five separate apartments, each with its own private entrance. If you are interested in renting one or more of the apartments, please let us know. The entire mansion is also available for rent for large parties.
The property’s elegant iron gates provide a secure space for you to enjoy the home. Clean, lighted pathways, and a grand front porch greet you when you arrive and invite you to explore the property. The home's lions and other architectural features create a warm and fun place to stay.
Stroll around the grounds of the property, and you will find lots of areas to relax and entertain. The screened in porch behind the house provides a wonderful place to relax. Available on a first-come, first-serve basis for all guests, the space contains a community dining table for 12 and an oversized comfy bench.
If you want to cook out during your stay, we've got you covered! Guests are welcome to use the outdoor kitchen, which sports a new grill, a large ice chest, and an oversized working bar. The Kenmore Elite five burner natural grill has both a searing element and an extra side burner for heating sauces and sides. Or, take a nap or cuddle up under the cedar trees in one of our over-sized, Brazilian double hammocks.
Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the apartment (interior photos in listing). They will also share access to the grounds of the property with other guests. The house's outdoor amenities include a screened outdoor dining room, a natural gas grill and bar area, hammocks, fountains, and gardens.
The Neighborhood:
While you are with us, be sure to venture out into the neighborhood. Just a few blocks away, you will find parks, restaurants, coffee, golf, and tennis!
Highland Park Golf and Tennis Club is just a block away. Open to the public, it is very easy to play a round of golf or a game of tennis during your stay. With amazing course conditions and incredible views of the city skyline, the Highland Park golf course is beloved by locals and visitors alike. Play 9- or 18- holes or enjoy the driving range. Tee times are easy to book online, in person, or by phone. If tennis is your sport, you are in luck. The Highland Park Racquet Club is next door and easy to access. Clay courts and hard courts are available for single or doubles play.
If you are in the mood for something more relaxed, the church around the corner has a beautiful public stone meditation path. Rushton Park, one of the three parks lining Highland Avenue, is just a couple of blocks away. A favorite among locals, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a pretty day. If you are traveling with kids, you will love Rushton Park's gated playground. Or, if you are in for something more active, try the park's basketball or volleyball court. Just outside the park, you will find a few popular local eateries. In the mood for a coffee or pastries, try O'Henry's. Or, stroll next door to Rojo, a popular Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. It's dog friendly and regularly features live music and entertainment.
Getting Around:
Eden Brae is just a couple of miles from most of Birmingham's most popular attractions: Railroad Park, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Avondale, Sloss Furnace, the Art Museum, Regions Field, Vulcan Park, and Downtown's Entertainment and Civil Rights Districts. All are easily accessibly by bike or by car/Lyft/Uber.
