Exceptional in every way. The space is clean, the accommodations are SO comfortable, and everything you could need for your stay was inside. We were blown away by how prepared the space was! Will be thinking about this place for the rest of my life probably.
The host was responsive by messaging as they were not in town. The view from the bedroom is spectacular and the apartment quite well equipped. Nice touch to have Twinings tea -- a great treat for after skiing and snowshoeing.
The Seaside Shack was lovely- even better that it looked in the listing! Check-in was very easy, and everything we needed was provided. The bed was so comfortable, and the view from the deck was stunning!
We enjoyed our stay. Great view from the deck. The location was perfect for accessing the Cabot trail and the area venues for the Celtic Colours festival. We would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful view, right on the water. Rooms well layed out and comfortable.
Outstanding in every way; very clean, very efficient, everything was as hoped for. Bed especially comfortable, and a delightful view. We would definitely hope to return. On a side note the Bird Island boat tour was spectacular weather, perfect for a boatload of bird photographers! Puffins galore and abou 15 Bald Eagles! Very highly recommended.Thank you, Jonathan for your support and advice, you were a great host!Doug
We stayed 2 weeks in Cheticamp and enjoyed every minute. The people are kind and friendly, the Highlands National Park is stunning and the music makes you want to dance. Seaside Shack is well appointed and waking up to an ocean breeze is amazing.
This is an absolutely gorgeous place with a beautiful view and close to many little boutiques and shops that one looks for in a small town. The only small criticism I would make is that the siding has been changed to blue/turquoise, and was hard to find since the picture shows white siding.
Location was great, can’t get any closer to the ocean. Bed and pillows comfortable. Well stocked. Cheticamp is a perfect little village to stay for a week. Well stocked. Communication with owner was great. Can watch lobster boats docking from the deck. Would highly recommend!
A beautifully functional apartment in the middle of Cheticamp, right next to Breton Highlands National Park for drives and hiking. Everything was in good condition and convenient to use. There's road noise since the apartment is right next to the main road through town; we got used to it quickly. Gorgeous sunset views over the harbor from the back deck.

Great location right on the shoreline. Nice wraparound deck with bbq and chairs. Hugh king bed. Everything in kitchen you need. Nice living area with multichannel tv - (could add music channels for ambience). Easy to contact owner if you have questions. Parking just out the door.
Excellent home base for Cape Breton Island excursions
This property exceeded our expectations. Comfortable bed, loved the ceiling fans (didn't have to use AC) Coffee maker and coffee/tea. Lots of comfortable seating in the tv room. Nice shower and full sized toilet (it's a rareity in the area it seems). I'd like to take this property and plant it in all the locations we visit. It's perfectly located to walk to the grocery and liquor stores, and a lovely little boardwalk in the town. Great restaurants as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The gentleman who was the host was very pleasant & accommadating. The place was very clean & cozy.It was furnished well & had everything you would need in it. It was nice & private. I took my husband to Cape breton to fish & stay for a couple of days for his 60th birthday. we had a great time. It was exactly what we were told it was & what we seen in pictures. the Evangeline diner across the street, great food & friendly people.
Cheticamp is a great base for all kinds of activities in Cape Breton. A short drive from golf and kayaking in Inverness; hiking in the national park; and even exploring over in Ingonish. Good restaurants, take-out seafood nearby, and an excellent French bakery - we stopped every morning. The house was cozy and comfortable. Enjoyed the back deck for dinner and sunset! Traffic on the road during the day disappears at night!
We made good use of the national park pass!
I love this little Seaside Shack! The location is fantastic, the views from the house are gorgeous, and Jon is responsive and well organized. Jon has a park pass available for his guests to use. The place has its own wash machine and dryer, Netflix and other streaming channels are available for those rainy days when you stay in, the kitchen is equiped with dishes you need for cooking, there's a Keurig machine and coffee pods available for use ... It feels like Jon thought of everything. Very cute Seaside Shack that has a modern but cozy feel to it. Gypsum Mine lake is about a 10 minutes drive up the hill, the park entrance and the Salmon Pools are about 5-7 minutes drive along the coast, grocery store is a 30 seconds drive, and beautiful vistas are literally a few sex nds away - right outside in the deck. Just don't forget to visit the local Aucoin bakery that opens at 7 am, but warm Kaiser buns are ready around 10 am. I will be back to Seaside Shack; already planning my next year's visit to the Highlands.
The Seaside Shack is the perfect home base for exploring the Cape Breton National Park. The accommodation is well presented and has all the comforts of home. Though the A/C is listed as 'old & unreliable', we stayed in 30C heat with no issues whatsoever. The breeze off the water is perfect. A terrific stay!
For our second trip to Nova Scotia, we ventured further afield to Cope Breton Island. Our stop in Cheticamp turned out to be a good one but, at just 2 nights, too short. There was plenty to do in town plus good restaurants. Cheticamp proved to be a good base for day trips including into the western part of the Park. Our apartment was great - completely equipped, comfortable, well decorated, clean and with a great view! Parking is awkward but worth it to be right on the waterfront. The main parts of town are walkable. You will have to drive north a bit to visit the excellent Aucoin Bakery. Jon was the perfect host - a fount of local information and close by if any problems. Highly recommended.
The house was very cute and appropriately spaced for two people. The kitchen had everything we needed and the deck was very pleasant. The bed was comfortable and the view over the water while lying in bed was enjoyable.. Lots of extra touches provided by the host. Seemed to be recently renovated..

I’m an adventurer who thrives on being active, learning about different cultures and exploring. I love connecting with people, developing new relationships as well as growing old ones.
When travelling, I am either carrying a backpack and scuba gear or traveling a little lighter with a simple carry-on. I tend to not take up too much space and respect everyone else's.
I take pride in my properties and am always trying to offer the best experience possible. My places are unique, clean, well lived in and comfortable from the moment you walk in. I want each guest to feel welcome as though it was their own home yet different and fun.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in the area and moved to Toronto in my teens. I always to stay connected to my roots back home and this was the first step in laying down a few roots.
What makes this property unique
The most significant benefits here is that it's the only place in town that's on the water without another house on either side for a good distance. So you're overhanging the ocean in the middle of town and still have a great amount of privacy.
