Enjoy a relaxing mountain getaway On River Time – located right on the North Fork of the New River, about ten minutes north of Jefferson. This cozy cabin is perfect for people who want to spend their time relaxing or adventuring instead of keeping up with a big house. It's, as Goldilocks said, “Just the right size.”

On River Time is a log cabin with rustic but contemporary details. A gas log fireplace makes adding ambiance a breeze as you relax with a movie o the news on a chilly evening. Both Netflix and regular satellite tv offer plenty of viewing options. The open floor plan means the cook is never isolated from the rest of the family. The kitchen has granite counters, and bar seating and just about everything you'll need for a weekend or a week retreat from everyday life. If you'd like to cook outside, you'll find a charcoal grill.

Two levels of porches overlook the extensive yard and the river, and are great places to put your feet up, and “set a spell.” From the porch you might spot deer or wild turkeys – even a great blue heron feeding in the river shallows. Have your binoculars on hand if you are a bird watcher, as we get a wide variety of feathered friends passing through the region. The yard is fenced, so if you have younger children with you, you don't have to worry about them getting into the river.

On the main floor the master bedroom offers a cozy king-sized bed, where you'll rest up for your explorations in the area. Just a step away is the hall bath, shared by your friends and family who are staying upstairs in the bedroom with two twin beds. A loft with a rocking chair might just be the perfect spot to catch up on your reading.

Downstairs a family room with a comfy queen sofa-bed extra sleeping space, an adjoining bathroom. There's another TV, plus a small fridge for snacks. The lower level steps out to the patio with the hot tub, too. You'll also find a washer/dryer downstairs, should you have to do laundry during your stay.

Stone steps make it easy to play in the river – bring your inner tubes, fishing gear, kayaks or canoes and enjoy the cool New River waters! Enjoy a wood-burning fire pit – bring the fixings for s'mores and gather round in the evening for simple pleasures!

On River Time is less than 20 minutes north of West Jefferson, making it ideally suited for trips to explore our happening mountain town filled with shops, galleries, restaurants and several really interesting and fun festivals throughout the year. Lansing is just 11 minutes away, where you can enjoy Music in the Barn once a month, the Molley Chompers Hard Cidery, or a meal at Pie on the Mountain.

From On River Time you'll be only 30 minutes from the entrance of Grayson Highlands State Park, which miles of trails, wild ponies, incredible visits, an excellent visitor's center, and historic cabins for a bit local history. If you are visiting on the third weekend of June, you may be able to join the Wayne Henderson music festival on the park's grounds. Wayne is known for his incredible music and as the maker of one of Eric Clapton's guitars.

If you want a scenic drive, we highly encourage a visit to the Pond Mountain game lands off Rock Fence Road in the far western part of the county. You can drive quite a distance into the park for some amazing views! But do check out the state website for the scoop on when it's open.

While we love to share our special mountain county, we're aware you might just be up here to chill, something we enthusiastically encourage. Maybe your ideal vacation is a bit of sunshine, a dip in the river, a book on the porch. You'll love that type of retreat at On River Time, too.

Dogs Welcome! Must be well behaved, leash/crate trained, 2 years or older and 45lbs or less. $50 / per pet. 2 dog limit.

Cozy Cabin for Fall Foliage Getaway
This is my second time staying at this property and it is just perfect for a relaxing getaway weekend. With great proximity to local establishments, it was the perfect spot for being able to relax with little excursions into town mixed in. I booked this property a second time because my dog absolutely loves the large, fenced in backyard and access to the river. Perfect spot for a getaway where you want to be surrounded by nature and take in all the fresh mountain air.

Fantastic
I had a beautiful, 10 night stay at this lovely mountain location. The place was beyond comfortable, with the amenities looked after in a largely excellent way. We wanted for nothing. A full kitchen, stocked with every essential cooking implement and then some (and I’m picky about that sort of thing), and more than enough room for multiple guests. Despite a really rustic feel outside, which we loved, the inside was totally temperature controlled, with some extra pizazz thrown in there in the form of a faux fireplace that doubled as a small heater. Management generally responded within a day of being contracted through the app - important to note that they recommended calling for more immediate responses - the only issue with that being that I had no cell reception in the cabin itself (AT&T). When reached, management was exceedingly considerate and wonderful to interact with. There was a very small inaccuracy in the listing concerning the locks on the doors, but nothing insurmountable, and I did get the feeling that such inconsistencies are not the norm for this company. Thanks for an amazing stay!

Little Slice of Heaven
If you have younger children and a dog then this is the place for you. The fenced in yard allowed us to let our children and dog roam freely while we relaxed in the hot tub or in the chairs by the fire. During the day we were able to swing open the back gate and spend time in the river. My son and husband enjoyed catching and releasing carwdads. They even caught a couple of fish. The water level was low during our visit so the kids and I were easily able to walk up and down stream to look at the beautiful river rocks lining the bottom of the river. We did not spend much time inside but it has everything you might need. There is a nice King bedroom on the middle level with a full bath, living area and kitchen. The stairs go up to a small loft area with a seating space and 2 twin beds. The lower level is equipped with a sofa bed, full bath and laundry area. We only had one issue during our stay with the grass cutter who showed up at 6:30pm while we were sitting around the fire. We reported it to the property manager and the neighbor, who witnessed the interaction, also plans to talk to the homeowner. Other than that incident, our stay was prefect.

Awesome AC River Spot
Great river access and a big, fenced yard...we used and enjoyed it all. Easy to get to and still quiet. Close to the local towns. We loved it!
