Great getaway

It's a great property. It's remote and relaxing yet not too far from town. Accommodates a lot of people easily with privacy. We have stayed here twice, and definitely will again when we're in the area. Kate is great to work with.

Beautiful log home. Staying here was one of the highlights of my trip. House was spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. High end hot tub. Sonny their stallion was in the field next to the house, so it was nice seeing him. No neighbors so you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Down the mountain there is homemade ice cream shop. We did the horse back trail ride and some of our group did the zip line that Sunderland Ranch provides. Both were very good. The staff and owners are super nice!

This place is the perfect getaway!! The property is so picturesque that it takes your breath away and the log house is beautiful and spacious. The pictures do not even begin to capture how amazing this property is. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful place. Classy cabin with every accommodation you could ask for. Our favorite thing was the radiant floors and the heated garage, considering that the temperature was -2 degrees out. We would love to come back in the summer. Just a heads up, if you rent in the winter, make sure that you have a four wheel drive

Very quiet & Great View of the Mountains

We absolutely love this place, it was so rustic looking and it was huge. Each of my kids had their own bed and my boys really really loved this house. It has a beautiful view of the mountains and it’s so quiet. The hot tub was amazing to use after the long hikes that we did in the mountains. it had a really nice kitchen lots of windows. It’s about 10 minutes outside of Palmer up lazy mountain so it is kind of a drive, but it was so nice because you weren’t in the thick of things.

Amazing location tucked behind Lazy Mountain with abundant comfort and amenities. Additional delights if you aren’t freaked out by taxidermy and animal pelts! Hot tub is a dream, but now I’m ruined because I want to install a steam room in my own master shower. What a treat.Katie was super accommodating and helpful. Expect some wind chill! It was a perfect location for our extended family of 12 to spend the new year cooking and playing board games between hot tubs. The absence of light pollution made for amazing starscapes, and we were lucky to have the Northern Lights come out in some fantastic displays on a moonless night. Bump your ISO to capture those colors on camera!

First Alaska Trip

We couldn’t have wanted a more perfect property to experience our first trip to Alaska. The home was beautiful inside and out, with amazing vistas all around. Getting to the house was easy with the GPS, and the trip in and out was truly amazing. The house was nicely equipped with everything we needed to get our vacation started and throughout the trip. The owner was easily accessible to answer questions and provide help when needed. The location was very good as a jumping off for trips to Anchorage, glaciers, wonderful restaurants and shopping. I would have to say it was absolutely perfect for all our needs and expectations for our first Alaskan trip. We would all make a return visit in a heartbeat. Much thanks to the owners for sharing their beautiful home with us.

Stunning Family Getaway

The view from the property is stunning and we literally got to enjoy it 24/7 as the sun never went down (we were there late June/early July). Be prepared if you are sleeping in the master bedroom as there are no drapes (they didn’t want to cover up the view). They do provide you with sleep masks - if you’re not use to all night sun. The cabin perfectly sleeps 6 adults, 4 teens, and 2 littles. There was plenty of room to spread our in and out of the cabin. We loved the horseback riding tour at the Sunderland farm provided by the cabin owner. We were also never more than half an hour from all the activities we wanted to do in the Palmer area. We highly recommend this place!

Summer Vacation

We had a very nice stay. We were an extended family group so each family was able to have their own area. I felt the cabin was clean and overall had everything we needed. My biggest complaint is that the pictures didn’t totally match the reality. One of the bedrooms in the basement level had different sleeping accommodations then we were expecting. It still fit our sleeping needs okay but was a little disappointing The basement finish out isn’t as nice as the main levels but it was clean for us so we were fine. I communicated with our contact a couple times before we came to get additional information on groceries and a few other things since we had never been to Alaska before and she was very responsive and helpful.

Family Christmas Getaway - perfect remote location

This property was the perfect location for our family Christmas. There was quite the wind storm raging when we got to Palmer and were loading up on food for the weekend. The owner reached out to make sure they would have the roads cleared for our arrival. The drive was uneventful, which is what we hoped for. The property is beautiful We arrived when it was getting dark and didn't get a chance to see the property until the next morning. It was quite the sight to wake up to. The owners met us at the house and made sure to do a thorough walk through so we knew what to watch out for with with winds and cold weather. Some of the best hosts I have had the pleasure to work with. Believe them when they suggest you give the steam shower a try...it is amazing! There were a few power outages during our stay, due to to the high winds. The owners arrived within 10 minutes to get the generators turned on which was greatly appreciated. All in all, I would highly recommend this property.

A truly unforgettable Alaskan experience

I booked this gorgeous cabin/home to host family and my father’s return to Alaska in >50 years. We decided on this home for a truly Alaskan experience, but ended up with so much more. The building is rustic and beautiful with an open layout, gorgeous furs/taxidermy, and all the amenities we needed. There is a small TV, but we honestly did not even turn it on. The wrap-around porch offers absolutely breath-taking views all while providing a sense of warmth and serenity. Our stay was made all the more special upon meeting Katie (our host) and finding out this was her family’s home for years. She shared with us some wonderful memories and tips to locating some ‘memorabilia’ that her children contributed to the property over the years (adding to its charm). I don’t want to call this a cabin, because it really is a home. Aside from the property itself, the offered expeditions are a must-do. The zip-line course is a truly inspiring construction project and offers a great adrenaline rush while the horse-back riding is a serene experience with gorgeous landscapes and dynamic terrains. Despite all these wonderful features, the greatest attribute of this property is the people. It doesn’t take long to figure out that Katie is a truly incredible woman and a beautiful human being. The people she has helping on property are equally as wonderful. They are all quick to make a joke, kind, personable, and yet professional. It is the culmination of these that has me missing Alaska every day.

Quintessential Alaska

Looking back 5+ years I believe the view from this cabin is in the top two vacation rentals we've experienced. Additionally, the cabin is amazing inside with all of the amenities and space you need for a big group. Our family of 14 (8 adults and 4 children) was comfortable and never in each other's way. The youngest slept on the couch in the common area, while the rest of us were in beds. We all enjoy cooking and sharing meals together, and found everything we needed for grilling, baking, cooking, etc. We made several meals here and really enjoyed from the deck. As others kindly mentioned, this place has a gas oven and it cooks different than a typical electric oven. We found that baking on the lowest rack kept things like biscuits and pies from burning (i.e. not as close to the flame). Aside the meals, this cabin gave us ample opportunity to share great family time and conversation. We did everything from puzzles, card games, hot-tubbin', kicking a soccer ball, hide-and-seek and campfire s'mores to morning coffee (a.m) and adult beverages (p.m.) on the deck. The only thing we didn't do, was turn on the TV...so I can 't speak to that. (But that's kinda the point, right?)We also did one excursion to the Independence Mine and one to Palmer for dinner. Everything is within reach of a modest drive, but the cabin is set away enough to feel almost isolated. We saw a little bit of activity with the neighbors and family with the horses, but otherwise it was just us.This was our first experience with 24hr sunlight, so for other's benefit I would recommend eye masks, mainly for those in upstairs bedrooms. We were prepared because of other helpful reviews we read before traveling.If you want some peace and quiet for a large (or small) group, in some of the most beautiful surroundings you can find, this is the place for you. Everything you need is within a short drive, but come prepared and you'll find plenty of reasons not to go anywhere. I absolutely recommend this place and hope to return to experience it in the winter sometime as well.

Best Cabin Ever

Listen here, if you’re looking for that real Alaskan cabin feel out in the country surrounded by tree’s and a pasture with cattle and a friendly horse named Sonny.. this cabin has a display of animals mounted on the walls, bear skins, various other fur pelts to snuggle up with. This cabin is very spacious, we had a group of 5 and we all had our own cozy room, the downstairs has its own small kitchen, set of appliances, and a usable garage. There were a handful of cowboy hats in the entry way we all put on to set the mood quickly. We ended our trip here, 2 nights we had, but would of stayed there a week, so quiet, cozy, awesome deck to kick back on, hot tub, games inside to play on a rainy day. Sloan, Katie the owners were great hosts and very responsive to prior questions and throughout our stay. I look forward to returning and showing friends this awesome place!

The day we were supposed to arrive, the power for the entire neighborhood went out. The site contact called me prior to check in to make us aware so we were able to prepare for the possibility of a candle-lit getaway. The roads on the way there were well plowed and easy to access with an all wheel drive. Our guest contact also called to make sure that we had appropriate car equipment to handle some of the icy parts of the road (studs, AWD/4WD). No one had an issue getting there. When we arrived, the cabin had plenty of candles available for us, and while the power went back on a few hours later, it went off again, and within the hour, they were pulling up a generator to hook up if needed. Fortunately, the power came right back on just after they pulled up the generator and stayed on for the remainder of the trip. The cabin was clean, and welcoming and the morning brought breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We laughed a lot, played game, took a few hour trip to Skitawk nearby, and shares some wonderful meals together which was sorely needed. The hot tub made for a nice post-ski soak while we watched the snow fall. We had a WONDERFUL experience the entire time. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Cabin in the snow

Had a great time at this cabin. The views were fantastic the interior was well furnished and the decorations were cool. The kitchen was impressive but lacked a few items such as blender, food processor, carving knives. Also the HDMI cord to the tv was not working properly luckily I had my personal cord with me. Maybe for people that are not tech savvy, a welcome letter with instructions on how to work the audio system would be awesome. The hot tub was great! The views of the horses was also nice.

Not happy with our stay!

I hate to leave this review because the owners were very kind. Upon our arrival, we noticed there were a couple of things that need to be taken care of, and so the owner came to take care of those issues. They were also very kind about me not including our babies as part of the number of our group. That was completely my mistake! The location is lovely, with a beautiful view. However, the house did not live up to our expectations and hopes. Our family paid a lot of money to stay in this home, and yet felt as if it was not as clean as it should have been. The basement was the biggest disappointment, and this is where up to 8 people could possibly sleep. The floors were filthy. The bathroom was disappointing in that the toilet leaked, which left the floor wet the whole week, and the sink was clogged. There were mouse droppings in the basement kitchen cupboard. The upstairs tub must have had a leak because water dripped down to the kitchen when the tub was used. The view from the deck is lovely, but the furniture should be replaced. The barbeque was horribly dirty! When we stripped the bedding upon our leave, we realized the pillows were not what you would want to rest your head on. It does not make me happy to leave this review. I did contact the owner with my thoughts, but did not get a response. It is my obligation to share my thoughts so that if someone is wanting to spend that kind of money to stay there, they would at least know what our experience was. I was responsible for renting a property for a family gathering, and this property that I chose left me feeling quite embarrassed.

Owners are very kind!

We spent a week at this property in August. The location is lovely! The owners are very kind people and were so understanding when noticing that we had not included our babies in our total count of guests. They wanted us to just enjoy our family, and we so appreciated their kindness. There were a couple of issues that needed to be taken care of upon our arrival, and those issues were taken care of immediately. Our overall feeling of the cabin was that it could have been cleaner, especially the basement. The floors were dirty. The basement bathroom was not in good condition, with a clogged sink and leaking toilet, which caused the floor to be wet the whole week. This created a musty smell in the basement. The size of the deck is great, but some of the furniture is in rough condition. The BBQ was a mess. I would recommend that the owners purchase new pillows, and put pillow covers/protectors on the pillows. Most of the pillows looked pretty used! I would say that a 4 star rating is being very generous. A 3 1/2 rating would be more accurate.
