Disgusting

I want to post pictures of this home as it was disgusting. We were informed after having three different maintenance people come to the property to repair things but also not repair things that the owner of this property doesn't even live in the country and is a slum lord. He won't get things fixed or updated because he still makes a tone of rental money on this property. The pool didn't work the heat to the pool didn't work the mattresses were the most disgusting stained things I have ever seen. The TV's didn't work the tub faucets leaked all over the floor because they weren't put on correctly. The ceilings looked like they were going to fall in because of water damage. It was horrible. Benchmark Property Management knew about the home being in disarray and VRBO should not be representing this home as it will bring your rating down. I am disgusted that out of all the times I have used VRBO this was the type of home and Management team you have representing you. I will find a way to add pictures and reviews wherever I possibly can so that this home doesn't ger represented anymore.

Family Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall everyone enjoyed the stay! Location was the best part! House design and space was also great! However there were many very large size flying Roaches we encounter daily. They were not just in one part of the home they were all over, the master bedrooms, the kitchen, pool area, and third floor rooms. The garbage when we arrive was over flowing and smelled like a dead body unacceptable on arrival. Garbage wasn’t picked up until 5am Saturday we checked in Tuesday meaning we had to deal with the smell. They also made us responsible for pulling the cans to the end of drive way to make sure which should not have been our job and then told us we would be fine if they were not there to be pulled. How should this be the responsibility of the guests checking in. I would recommend making sure garbages are pulled before new guests arrive and having some one come spray.

Needs a lot of updates and fixing

The property location was right on the beach which was nice, it was very busy though because the public beach access is extremely close. The house needs updating in many areas including but not limited to the ovens, the ice maker, the plumbing, and the dishwasher. The house needs a very good deep cleaning as there was roach feces in several cabinets. We had nightly visits from huge, flying roaches, approximately 20 total. It was disgusting. Two night before we left we found out that the windows in the kitchen area were left open, which we assumed was the reason for the roach infestation. The bathrooms and sinks need updating, as the faucets leak all over the floor as do the toilets. The downstairs shower does not drain and has a very strong smell of urine. The ice maker never did work properly for the duration of our stay. We contacted benchmark management and they never sent anyone out. We will never be renting this house again or any house from benchmark management. We were very disappointed.

The beach/location were great but the a word...NASTY! Trash from previous guest still in 2 of the bathrooms, ceiling leaked during rain (2 rooms) being in the building industry, it was easy for us to see the problem, tiles missing on the roof! No AC in the garage apt from day 2!! Top oven does not work, ice make was always 1/2 water, lovely roaches every evening in the kitchen, pool toys left in box, moldy/mildewed, return air vents very dirty, I could go on but let’s just say....again, NASTY! We owned a property at Villa Coyaba and know what it takes to have a high dollar property, what it takes to keep quests happy, again very disappointed....

Issues.. but overall it was OK

Like many other reviews, the property was dirty. I even emailed the property before our stay and was assured it would be cleaned. The floors were so dirty our feet were black. There were roaches. A lot of things were broken - most importantly the door to the pool does not stay shut so be careful if you are bringing young children who might wander around. I did notify management about this issue. Besides all the issues, the size and location of property is great for big families.

It’s been well-maintained, it was clean and Benchmark mortgage was quick to answer any questions that we had upon our arrival. The house is steps away from the beach. The views are stunning. It was a great place for me to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend. There were only four of us in this massive house, but we planted it that way. Most certainly can sleep up to 20 people. All the bedrooms have TVs and all of the bedrooms, the entire house just makes you feel so cozy. It was such a relaxing time for us. We had a personal chef to come in and cook and , she went on the deck and was just amazed at the view. So if anyone is thinking of this property, do not think. Run and book it. I’m actually at this moment trying to book it again to take son, my daughter-in-law and my grandson thank you for being so good to me. You can’t go wrong booking this beautiful property.

Family vacation

This should be a great home to have in VRBO availability. Unfortunately it needs to have a couple of weeks of maintenance and repairs. Hours after arrival our Grand kids were laying on the sofa’s and noticed that their feet were really dirty from walking barefoot in the house. Landscaping is a mess. Garage is loaded with previous replacement appliances. The back door needs door handle and latch replaced. When walking in to kitchen the Sheetrock on the corner of the bar area is separated. Exterior show signs of stucco repairs paint not matching. Widows rotten in kitchen area. Bolster broken on staircase. Downstairs flooring was replaced with a cheaper laminate flooring and needs replaced. Upon arrival the house had a serious musty smell. We went and bought plug-ins to alleviate the smell. The house is in an awesome location. Layout is good. Should be a wonderful place to enjoy. Unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired with current conditions. As a fellow VRBO homeowner it was disappointing to spend this much money for the current conditions.

Golf Trip

Some buddies and I (11 of us) took our annually golf trip and decided on Destin. This house was very clean and perfect for a group of our size. Would certainly recommend.

Beware…home and management not commensurate with the price tag

I will begin with the positive by saying the house was large enough to accommodate our family of 13 comfortably. The property is located directly beach front however it is just beside the public beach access which led to extreme crowding. In general the house is in pathetic disrepair. There are several areas of rotten wood inside which lends to a stale odor/stench. In addition there was mold around several windows and around air conditioning vents. The bathrooms, to be honest, were disgusting and had mold and mildew around the edges of very old shower/tub inserts. We contacted the management about the mold, but they never sent anyone to inspect or clean. Prior to our stay we read several reviews about the oven and ice maker being broken. When we contacted them to inquire if the repairs had been made, they offered to let us cancel our reservation but there would be no refund of our money because it was too late for a cancellation. We were assured by the management company that these repairs had been made via calls and e-mail. They were not only not repaired but the parts to repair them had not been received according to the service man sent out to check the appliances. In addition, there was mildew inside of the ice maker. The refrigerator was quite unclean and had a sticky brown residue below the drawers. This is a three story home with a large staircase. The railing is not stable and actually had one broken piece. The deck around the pool is also loose.

Dirty Property and Terrible Management Company

Reviewer Comments: We stayed here from May 7th-14th 2023 with our entire family and can provide you with an accurate and detailed review of the property. Please know that this is more a reflection of the management company and the terrible job they did than the house itself or the homeowner. We rent beach houses all the time and have normal expectations of typical wear and tear, etc.Let’s start with what is great about this house. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Destin and the views are amazing for lack of a better word. The home itself, while dated, is spacious and beautiful. That is about all you can say that is good.Below was our experience at the house:1. We arrived on Sunday 1 hour prior to check-in time. I had my father-in-law with me who is handicapped. I called Benchmark and asked if we could go ahead and enter the property since it was hot outside and the home looked vacant and ready. They informed me to do that would cost $65.00. I said that was a bit ridiculous but okay. They then informed me that they had not completed the final inspection so that we could not enter. I felt relieved that someone was going to come look and make sure everything was ready and accepted the situation.2. The trash out front was jam packed full of trash when we arrived and smelled terrible. The cans were not brought to the road, and we ended up having to haul the trash from the previous guests to the road.3. While waiting I walked around to the back of the home to look at the view and the pool. The pool was completely full of sand, trash, and dirt. I showed the lady completing her inspection and she told me that it should have already been cleaned, that she was sorry and that she would get someone to come clean it asap.4. The next day no one had come to clean the pool, even after calling and emailing and texting them. Obviously with young kids they wanted to use the pool. Don't stay here! Ruined my vow renewal experience

Was notified the day before my stay that the oven did not work. During our stay, the elevator did not work, the pool was dirty and would not heat, furniture was soiled/stained, spiders found in two of the beds, and because the steps were not secured to the bunk bed one of the kids fell off the steps trying to get on the top bunk. On my vow renewal day, instead of focusing on my ceremony, I received a visit from a rep from the company to discuss my experience while my stylist was doing my hair in the bathroom. Just sad! I advise all guests to take pics before and after their stay. This company is not trustworthy at all. My mother-in-law had to sleep on the couch, as she could not walk up the steps and my guests did not want to sit on the soiled chairs in the kitchen. In addition, the caterer spent way more time than anticipated preparing our meals. This company does not sell the experience they promise. I asked for the company's legal team information and was originally told it was on their website. That was a lie! They then told me to have my lawyer call the guests relations number. I have never been so disappointed!

Great location, ok house

We stayed at this property for a week in early November… The location is great! Just steps out the back door is the white sand beach that Destin is famous for. Communication with the management company was great and easy. However, the property manager himself was difficult to work with. We had several issues with the house, which the property management company took care of promptly, which was great! The house is well worn either from VRBO guests or just time. Prior to coming I had called the management company and asked about all the issues that were revealed in prior reviews on Vrbo. They assured me that almost all of them had been taken care of, except the ovens. The ovens were very slow to heat and uneven cooking. They have new ones on order, and those will be installed at some point in the future… As others noted, the burners on the stove don’t work very well either. We had a private chef come in and cook one evening, and he had to use all of the flawed equipment. But he was a pro, And made it work well! I reached out to the management company twice before arriving asking if there was a pack and play available and a high chair. They were never able to answer me. Upon arriving, we found to pack and plays, and a highchair, dusty and in rough condition in the garage. This property boasts of six parking spaces… We had three SUVs parked in the driveway and it was very hard to get in and out. The two garage spaces in the property do have quite a bit of junk in them and it is a very tight squeeze for something like a suburban to fit in there, so if you are driving a large vehicle, do not plan on parking in the garage. Also, the pictures of the pool are a little deceiving, it is much smaller than the pictures make it look like. I will say that we had the pool heated while we were there and the pool heat works very well! We have been at other properties where the pool heat just barely functions. So this was a pleasant surprise to have a good pool heat for the kids to jump in on the cooler days especially . We had ages 60 down to 18 months and there was plenty of room in the house for everyone. It is good to note that the bedroom that is above the garage is not accessible directly through the house. You have to go outside. But it is like its own little apartment with a kitchenette, table, bathroom, and bedroom. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves particularly because of the great location of this house! Because of the location one can overlook the flaws!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location and ease of access were great; size of house and bed arrangement perfect for our family mix (mostly adult couples). House did have some problems related to age. Elevator failed to work so everyone including my 87 year old dad had to use stairs, or sleep in bunk beds. Back door would not open fully as floor was warped. Maintenance responded quickly but several days for elevator and more for the door, and still not working just right. Will need some time to fully correct this. The women felt house was not very clean (streaky floors, windows and counter tops, sand in pool. etc.). I did find the management team to be very responsive, albeit it did take some time. Bottom line, although many positives not sure commensurate with the very high price we paid (value).

Family Vacation at the Bellagio

With 20 people under one roof - things went great. There is plenty to do with the gorgeous beach, pool on the deck, and things to do in the Destin area. The place was clean, bedrooms are all great size. Plenty of room in the kitchen and living area for a large crew of people. VIews are amazing!The place needs some TLC for sure. The dishwasher was broken the first 3 days of our visit, waiting for a part. The size of that kitchen really should have two dishwashers anyway, but it doesn't. Kitchen was well stocked, ice maker was great to have. Oven seemed to be slow to heat up, but otherwise worked great. The stove stop should be replaced, 2 of the burners just don't get very hot. Patio door needs some work so it opens properly and the island needs water damage on front portion fixed. But we had an awesome family vacation and would definitely stay here again!

Beach Home With Zero Beach Privacy

Reviewer Comments: My family was just shocked at the house we rented for our vacation. When you save all year to rent a large home for your entire family and it cost what we paid you naturally expect a lot. We did not expect, two garages full of junk, a back door, that scraped the floor in dining room every time we opened or closed it, counters that had paint literally falling off the panels, and we certainly did not expect HUGE WATER BUGS IN THE HOUSE! I could go on but I’m getting nauseated just thinking about it.

2022 family vacation

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: this was our 4th year in this house and our 28 year to Destin, 13 family members this year. We rent premium housing and this property is not worth the money!!! there are MAJOR issues with the house and will not be returning. the benchmark management team was basically non responsive to any requests and fixing the repairs needed. This property is in the middle of a new planned public beach area by the city of Destin and the private home and beach we used to enjoy has now become a circus!!! there is a public notice sign next door stating the city's plans. may be why the owners do nothing to fix or improve this property. There appears to have been a major plumbing problem in the island in the kitchen-- and not totally fixed.1. pool full of sand when we arrived. a continuous problem year after year2. dishwasher did not work at all. called management and a guy stopped by for 30 seconds and never heard back from management again. had to hand wash dishes the entire week. UHG !!3. ovens are poor. upper oven slow to heat and cook. lower oven does not turn on at all. had the same problem in past years. never addressed by Benchmark.4. grills are rusted in poor condition and ready to collapse-- never replaced over the years.5. the large beautiful windows need cleaning. they are heavily coated with salt and sand. my husband went to Lowes and bought a squeegee to clean. 6. tiles on the front steps are cracked and broken. a big safety hazard.7. the door from the kitchen to the pool deck is a total mess. it opens about 15" maximum and scrapes the floor every time you open/close the door. no one came by to look at or fix after we called.

Large extended family vacation and we enjoyed the location close to everything we needed and wanted. Large house was great.
