We had a wonderful stay at this Milbridge property and would absolutely return. It was the perfect home base for exploring Downeast Maine and Acadia while still enjoying the peace and quiet away from the crowds. The home was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the beautiful harbor views and watching the dramatic tides come and go throughout the day—it was fascinating and one of our favorite parts of the trip. The location was ideal for day trips to Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and the surrounding blueberry country, while still offering a relaxing retreat each evening. Milbridge itself has a wonderful authentic Maine feel.If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic place to unwind and experience coastal Maine, this property is an excellent choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
Such a pleasant surprise. We were trying to stay close Bar Harbour, expanded our search a bit and found this little gem of a cottage. Only about 30 mins away from BH, but it was its own slice of paradise as we decided to stay local more than going to the busy town. Plenty to do and the cottage was the perfect retreat. A way to spend quality time w the family, grilling, cooking, making smores, dropping a fishing line from the back yard. Truly fell in love with the cottage. The owners were more than responsive. Excellent hosts and custodians for our visit. Thanks for everything Dorr family!!
Our family enjoyed our stay here! Very clean, tucked away with a great view; watching the water come in and out was very interesting! Everything you need is here and the owners were easy to communicate with!
If you want to really get away to a peaceful, serene and gorgeous property - this place is for you. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!
Home is beautiful. Location is so quiet and relaxing. Everything we could need was provided for us. Perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean, nicely appointed, well equipped, attractively decorated with a view of the tidal stream and an excellent site for watching/studying the tidal changes. We arranged to have kayaks and the property owner, Chad directed us to a launch site on the tidal stream where we could launch the kayaks and explore the tidal area as well as the ocean front shore!!
We had an amazing stay here!! Loved the home and being right on the water!! Coffee outside every morning was so nice!!
We had trouble finding this place at 10:00 at night…Chad was so sweet to come and find us and lead us here. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay!!
The property was beautiful, the check in process was super easy, the pictures were completely accuate. We loved our stay. My only negative was that we left a couple of items in the closet, and I reached out asking for them to be mailed and I would pay for shipping, but I did not receive any response from the property management, which is very disappointing.
This was a amazing location where peace and quiet could be found. Wonderful 2 bedroom/1bath with everything you will need to enjoy the harbor. The deer and bird come in the evening to everyone’s delight. Just a lively experience.

Thank you Donna. We enjoyed having you and love that you enjoyed the peace and quiet (and wild life)!
This rental was super clean and modern with an amazing view
Kitchen was nice tho we didn’t cook at all but could have inside or on the grill Also had a great fire pit !
Had lots of family stuff going on elsewhere but I’d definitely love to stay again with more time to spend at the actual property
One of the best rentals we have ever had. So beautiful and quiet for those who enjoy peace and beauty but just miles from all the Acadia National Park wonders. The house is truly water front, clean , all the cooking amenities and comfy beds. Very convenient to fresh seafood and great location from which to get to Canada. We will return and the host very kind and readily accessible.
“The comfort and convenience of home, even while away.”This gem of a home offers the perfect balance of privacy and accessibility. Even though it’s located on an island, it’s incredibly easy to drive on and off — no ferries or hassle required. Tucked away from the busyness of life, it feels peaceful and secluded, yet support is available if you need anything.Staying here was a refreshing change from the crowds of Bar Harbor. It was still easy to visit, but nice to retreat to a quiet, relaxing space afterward. There’s plenty to do nearby if you enjoy the outdoors, or you can just unwind and take it slow. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a calm, comfortable escape.
This house was just spectacular. We were looking for something that was quiet , on the water, and this house didn't disappoint. Close enough to so many activities but far enough from the crowds of Bar Harbor. The house was very very clean and had everything we were looking for. Chad was extremely accommodating in any questions we had and was a pleasure to work with. No issues at all staying here. Highly recommended !! Thank you Chad !
We were looking for a “chill” weekend to decompress and get out of the Texas summer heat. This cottage was perfect for the two of us. We found that the kitchen had everything we needed to cook two wonderful lobster dinners and scallops another night, which we purchased at Dorr Seafood in Ellsworth. Our host Chad Dorr was very helpful answering questions before the trip and assistance throughout our stay. We had the best crab cakes we ever tasted at Helen’s in Machias, along with a great blueberry pie! So good, we had to go back a second time.
Great cottage, great food and a great host! We hope to return!
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of spending a week at this cute home right on the water. It was so quiet, beautifully decorated, and perfect for an escape. We spent days exploring the area, and fell in love with Schoodic peninsula. We found a few lakes, and many hikes during our week. We looked forward to heading back to the house for dinner on the grill, lobsters, and truly relaxing! We spotted dear every day (five at one point eating alone the ocean!!), eagles, herons, and so much wildlife at the house and arround the area. Chad and Rick were so very helpful, kind and couldn't have been better hosts! The check in and out, were very easy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, tranquil vacation home.
My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Dorr’s cottage. It is a lovely place. Everything is new from the appliances to the furniture. The place is very clean. There is an amazing view of the water from the living room. We explored the wharf and enjoyed watching birds and the tide changes. The location is remote. Went to the nearby town of Milbridge one morning for groceries and found the local farmer’s market. It was the end of the season, but the farmers were friendly and their produce was tasty. We also went to Southwest Harbor and Acadia National Park, which were long drives but well worth the visit. Happy to go back to the cottage, as the other places were crowded. We highly recommend staying here if you enjoy the outdoors and like staying off the beaten path.

Thank you do much Melissa! We enjoyed having you guys and knowing you enjoyed our relaxing cottage!
My wife and I loved our stay, it was exactly what we wanted. We live in NYC so we wanted a place off the road and quiet and this cottage fit the bill. It was a 7-minute drive off the main road (US-1) and oozed peace and quiet. We BBQ our dinner and sit by the fire pit every night by the water. Awesome!!! If you want to go out every night this isn't the town for you. If you want silence and the occasional deer running across the road, this is it.
The cottage was great and well-stocked and Chad was so easy to deal with. It's right next to the landlord's lobster company but we never saw anyone. One thing about that. The living room (which looks out on the water and the lobster company's pier) has no blinds so people can see in. However, no one was ever out on the pier or on the water so it didn't matter.
We would definitely come back or try out one of Chad's other properties.
We stayed here three days to visit Acadia National Park. The accommodations were excellent.
