About this property

Modern Farmhouse - West Saugerties / Woodstock

This fully renovated farmhouse is centrally located between the towns of Woodstock (7 miles) and Saugerties (8 miles) at the base of Platte Clove in West Saugerties. The neighborhood is only 10 minutes off interstate 87 yet feels completely secluded and serene, surrounded by nature and charming farm houses. Easy access to Hunter Mountain for skiing (25 min drive), the town of Hudson (30 min drive) and all other parts of the Catskill region. We have lists of the best shopping, eating and sightseeing around and are happy to give you tips on what to do while you're here.

The house has five equally appointed bedrooms (1 on the 1st floor, 4 on the 2nd floor) with brand new Queen size beds and all new linens & bedding in each. The rooms are charming, clean and cozy with a mix of antique and handmade furnishings. Closets and bureaus are empty and available for guest use in all upstairs bedrooms, the place is yours!

First floor has a TV room with a large sectional sofa (for 8) and LG SmartTV (With WiFi) and an adjacent sitting room, perfect for cocktail hour or card games. We do not have cable TV. Feel free to bring your own Apple TV, Roku or video game systems.

Bathrooms are bright and squeaky clean with wall to wall subway tile and all brand new fixtures. Upstairs bathroom is very spacious and has tub with shower and linen closet, first floor has stall shower and laundry. Towels and bath products are provided.

Plumbing Note: This home is on a septic system. Please do not flush any trash, paper towels, sanitary products or baby wipes down the toilet.

The heart of the house is the 800+ sq ft Kitchen/Dining Great Room complete with rustic farm table that can seat 10-12 people. We encourage guests to make them selves at home and cook at the house. New stainless steel appliances and all of the cookware, glassware and dishes you'll need are provided.

This house is perfect for friend reunions, family get togethers and those who like to throw a picture perfect dinner party! There are fantastic farm stands, meat markets and wine stores in Saugerties and Woodstock. We can also recommend many local restaurants. The Hudson Valley has no shortage of good food!

Children are welcome but please be aware the house has very steep stairs and the kitchen is not childproof. Children should be supervised at all times in the house. There are two wooden child safety gates in the house for use in the top and bottom of the stairwell.

Our No-Pet policy is very strict. We do not allow pets in the house at any time, regardless of size.

No smoking in the house. This includes vape pens, they have been know to set of the fully connected smoke detector system inside the house (when one goes off they all go off).

OUTDOOR AREAS: Patio umbrella must stay closed and tied shut when not in use! We get very strong winds off the mountains and we don't want the umbrella to fly away. Please be mindful and respectful of the adjacent neighbors in the white house. Keep outside music and socializing to a reasonable level during summer months and respect quiet time past 9PM at all times.

Grill: There are spare propane tanks to the left of the shed. Guests are responsible for filling propane tanks should they choose to use the grill. Please keep grill clean and turn off propane after use! Food scraps on the grill will attract bears and raccoons.

Fire Pit: Guests may use fire pit at their own risk. Guests must provide their own, locally store bought (DRY) fire wood and kindling. Do not pull dead branches or cut trees from the woods behind the house. Do not attempt a camp fire during rainy or windy weather. Make sure fire and embers are completely extinguished when you're done using the fire pit.

Driveway has enough space to park 5 or 6 cars at the most. Please avoid driving on the grass and be careful entering exiting the driveway.

We encourage you to enjoy the space with your group but please do not invite guests over that aren't part of the group staying in the house. No more than 10 people in the house.

Girls trip

Beautifully appointed home

A group of seven of us celebrated a 50th birthday here. The house is beautifully appointed with lots of room for eating and playing board games. Beds are comfortable. We only wished for a bit more soft seating.

Amazing house!

I come to this area a couple times a year with a group of friends and we have stayed in a number of houses. I can say that this house was one of the best!! The property was so beautiful and spacious. The house was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The outdoor space was really nice too and the mountain view’s were spectacular. The property owners were also very nice and communicative. We would highly recommend this house.

Family Thanksgiving in Saugerties

Every member of our 9 person party loved our stay in this house. Kitchen was substantial enough to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Backyard big enough to entertain kids. The living room large and comfy enough to entertain everyone. The bedrooms cozy enough for sleep-ins. The whole house was very clean, had everything we needed, and was thoughtfully and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend this property.

The Gathering House is Perfect!!

My family completely enjoyed The Gathering House and it was perfect for our stay! The home was so spacious, comfortable, and inviting. My cousins kept telling me what a fantastic house this was for our stay. Tommy and Roy were always quick to respond and were incredibly accommodating! Perfect for Large Groups!

Our group of 9 had a fantastic time staying here. There was plenty of space for all of us, and the large kitchen/dining space was perfect for hosting many large meals. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a large group!

Beautiful house -- perfect for gathering with friends or family.

This property has been beautifully renovated. It's spacious, well appointed, comfortable, and quite large! We loved the close proximity to Woodstock. We wandered in town, cooked big dinner, added a few corks to the "guest jar" of other corks, and stopped at Dia Beacon. A fabulous weekend.

Great Spot for Girls Weekend

Our five friends had a wonderful weekend at The Gathering House! It was great that we all had our own bedrooms, and the beds and bedding were so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our dinners, and the drawers were organized to find it all. We loved the house decor and charm. Communication with the host was timely and easy. Wonderful stay!

The house is near the Hudson river with beautiful views and walks. It has a rustic feel but is fully equipped, simple and clean. It is exceptionally well stocked. The large kitchen and dining room have all you need and desire for cooking and serving, all in an excellent condition. There is plenty of towels, blankets and sheets. It is well decorated and practical at the same time. Very comfortable, The place has a charming backyard. The only two suggestion would be: - ideally, it would be great to open upstairs windows. They are secured with AC units at the moment (for summer), - the grass could be a bit shorter and the yard slightly more taken care of. Otherwise, no other suggestion. Highly recommended.

Fall girls trip

We had an excellent stay at the Modern Farmhouse for a Fall girls trip. We each had a room. Lot of areas to hang out. Kitchen was awesome and we just bought food and drinks. There were several seasonings too. The trip was geared by a local food festival and it was about 15 minutes away, as was the downtown Saugerties and Woodstock. We had a very nice waterfall hike about 30 minutes away. There were a handful of very excellent restaurants in town. Right around the house was rural except for a general store about 2 houses down but around a bit of a bend in the road. We initially did miss the house a few times due to the location right on the bend. The house was a bit older and creaky (not unexpected) but the shared areas were very nice. I was able to communicate with Roy before the trip to prepare and also during the trip with a heating issue. Overall the group was very happy with our accommodations.

Ideal destination for family visit to the Catskills

We stayed at Roy and Tommy’s house for two months over the summer with our three young kids. We loved our stay and had a great experience with the owners, who are incredibly responsive and helpful. It was an ideal location for us, roughly 10 minutes from the villages of Saugerties and Woodstock, and about 15 minutes to the town of Hunter. The house is an ideal mix of new and old, with kitchens and bathrooms fully updated and very new. The owners have been very thoughtful about everything in the house. For example, bedrooms are appointed with plenty of outlets and nightlights and the decor is stylish yet also durable and can’t be broken by young kids. As others have mentioned, the house has plenty of room and was quite comfortable for our family of 5 (and the occasional visit from the grandparents!). It’s appointed with everything you need, including organic soap and shampoo, every possible tool you could need in the kitchen (all new and in great shape), and plenty of spices, coffee and tea. The backyard is beautiful and we enjoyed the brand new fire pit, which the owners had just installed. We regularly saw deer, rabbits, groundhogs, and numerous types of birds and butterflies. Despite our kids’ wishes, no bear sightings this trip! :)

Friend getaway!

Roy and Tommy were so accommodating- we had to change the vacation date for medical reasons, and they made it so quick and easy. The place was adorable! I loved the aesthetic! We had a wonderful time.

Perfect escape year round

Pristine farmhouse that has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We cooked full meals and had everything necessary for cooking and feeding 9 people. Plenty of space and separate seating areas for groups to split up. The owners are super pleasant and responsive to questions. Not one issue with our stay. Perfect as could be! A Great Escape!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Roy and Tommy's house. The house is very spacious and creates a very relaxing atmosphere. The dining & kitchen area is much bigger than how it appears in the pictures. Roy was always incredibly responsive with every question we had. Can't wait to go back!

Relaxing and seamless

This renovated farmhouse is actually better in person - the photos don't do it justice. It's been not only renovated with great detail, but also decorated perfectly. It felt clean and welcoming, and the owners were so easy to get in touch with. They thought of everything: even every light switch has a note identifying it's function, and you'd be surprised how much simpler that can make your life on a day-to-day basis! The yard is big, which was great for my 19 month old to run around in. The kitchen island was a perfect place to set up my son's clip on chair for his meals, internet worked great so we were able to work easily. I really can't say enough good things about my stay - I really recommend it.
