Intimate Hideaway on the Beach

Luxurious one-bedroom casita just steps from sand of the Sea of Cortez. Perfect for a couple looking for a romantic get-a-way or a solo traveler desiring special accommodations on the water.

Imagine being lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea in a king size feather-topped bed and waking to the brilliant colors of the sunrise behind Isla Carmen. Custom designed and hand-built cedar furniture incorporates sea glass and shells along with overstuffed leather sofas adorn the 755 square foot casita. Fully equipped kitchen has 5 burner stove, microwave, Calphalon cookware and granite countertops. Both the interior and exterior bathrooms incorporate hand painted tiles and oversized mirrors.

The front patio is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise with morning coffee or evening cocktails as the sky changes color behind the islands. Out back, a 50’ lap pool and entertainment center with state-of-the-art gas grill, sit-down bar and outdoor dining area. Separate poolside half bath and outdoor showers, along with pool toys, beach chairs and umbrella. In the garage, standup paddle boards, two kayaks, and two bicycles for your enjoyment

Flat screen TV, DVD, satellite cable, wireless Internet, books, DVDS, 500 count cotton sheets and fluffy towels complete the interior amenities. Separate A/C units for each room – including the bathroom – insure temperature control to personal tastes.

A full-time caretaker is on the grounds to answer questions or help you arrange for a fishing trip – with beach front pickup – or a day exploring the islands.

Casita de Catalina is less than a mile from town – a short walk on the beach – or 5 minutes by car from the heart of Loreto. Restaurants, grocery stores, fishing excursion, scuba lessons and/or dive trips, winter whale watching, glass-bottom boat tours, kayaking adventures, hikes up oasis-like canyons and mule rides to local ranchos can all be arranged. A walk on the pristine Malecon, through the historic district and the waterfront Zocolo will further flavor your Loreto experience - truly a "Pueblo Magico."

This place has spoiled us. We can't see staying anywhere else in Loreto. We love being in this quiet location, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves, and watching the sunrise from the chaise lounges each morning. The casita is super comfortable and has the added benefit of kayaks for your use. There's nothing better than kayaking on a calm morning. And a short walk along the beach and malecon get you to the marina, plaza, etc. in no time. Really, this place is a gem!

The Casita I stayed in was fabulous. It’s right on the beach, it’s well appointed, private and chill. I felt safe as a single woman. There are a few things that need attention, but nothing major.

A Magical Place to Stay

Exceeded expectations

Such a wonderful and relaxing stay at this beautiful casita on the beach! Catharine and Rigo went out of their way to be accommodating and make us feel welcome for our first trip to Loreto.The morning kayaks, lap pool and of course steps to the ocean were a few of the highlights. We also enjoyed the daily walk into town. We look forward to visiting again!

Everything was excellent. The casita is cozy and has everything you need -- full kitchen, king-width bed, lap pool, outdoor dining, plenty of outdoor seating, and direct access to the beach. I looked out the window every morning and watched the sun rise. We sat on the beach chairs and stared at the sea, watching the pelicans dive for fish. This place is gorgeous, clean, and located in the sweet spot on the edge of town. We didn't make use of many of the amenities (kayaks, etc.) but everything listed was present and accessible. The host and her associates were incredibly welcoming and responsive. Much like Loreto itself, they were friendly and low-key. If you're like my wife and don't like bugs, you're in luck -- aside from the rare mosquito and frequent butterfly, there weren't any to speak of.The pics truly represent what's here but don't really capture how comfortable it is. We thought it was well worth the cost. Also, during the lead up to our stay, the host was very responsive to business matters and questions about Loreto. I've traveled some and stayed in vacation properties frequently, and this was easily a top-tier experience. Highly recommend.

Peaceful spot on the sea.

This was a very comfortable casita steps from the sea. We had our morning swim in the gentle waves watching the sunrise. There was everything we needed and desired and the lap pool was a treat. Kayaking in the gentle waters, biking to town and through the Baja desert and walking up many small streets to find treasures. This spot made for a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Excellent getaway for a couple

With a lap pool six steps from one door and the Sea of Cortez 12 steps out the other door, this is the perfect place for a couple who enjoy the water. Kayaks and SUPs there for your use, with a local fellow available to pick you up from the beach to take you for a day of snorkeling or fishing. Bikes available to ride the 3/4 mile into town for excellent food, or you can walk there on the beach. A true 10 out of 10 place to stay.

I am an avid water person - swim, surf, SUP, sail snorkel - and am proud to call Loreto my second home. A beach girl from the go - I consider it a luxury to launch my SUP boards, kayaks and sailboat from the sand in front of my home. My dog Buster was born on the beach in Loreto - the offspring of two rescue pups. He has become bi-coastal (southern California) and bi-lingual. Woof in both Spanish and English.

Why they chose this property

Casita was built in 2016 on the lot that was contiguous to the main house, Casa de Catalina. My first trip to Loreto in 2006, I fell in love with the town and its residents. I jokingly say, some people leave from vacation with a t-shirt. I left with a house. It's in a perfect location, with great neighbors, and the constancy of the sea just steps from the house.

What makes this property unique

Proximity to the water. The magic of the Sea of Cortez and Loreto which is one of a select Mexican cities to earn the title "Pueblo Magico." The CASITA, pool and entertainment areas were a 9 year dream in the making. Am thrilled to be able to share the location and unique building with family and friends - both new and old.
