The host was very nice, she allowed us to check in early so we could get groceries into the refrigerator before the usual check-in time. The rental was pretty much as described, but it wasn’t that well organized, and had a lot of stuff in the house. We had two issues that were probably due to the owners cleaning company - damp towels that I had to run through the dryer to get them dry, and one of the beds didn’t have a main sheet and we had to look around for a sheet and remake the bed. None of this was horrible but somewhat annoying. The host was notified and I’m sure she will address with her cleaning company. Not that I was looking for a luxury rentals and this rental doesn’t fit that category but it fit the bill for what we needed. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with the necessary dishes and pans and had a nice spice rack that came in handy. There was no dining table in the house which I found a bit inconvenient. There was a counter with 2 stools and a coffee table in the living room where we sat for meals. There was a table on the patio out behind the house that families will need to use since there isn’t one in the house. If I came back to this area again I would look for a different rental. But overall it was ok and would suit a small family that wanted to enjoy the area attractions.

The property is native and beautiful, the outdoor patio area is very lovely. The home is beautiful. decorated wonderfully with artifacts and collector items from all over. We had a few problems but the owner was quick to come fix anything that needed to be done. I would rent this again and again.

The house is very nice. It is fun due to being full of unique objects. I was pleasantly surprised that the piano is kept in tune. It has an old timey sound like it needs new strings, but plays well. It is very well kept and clean.

Cozy and mostly comfortable

There’s a lot to like about this place: easy drive to Venice and beaches, no stairs, two bikes to use on the nearby Legacy Trail, a sand scoop for hunting shells and sharks teeth, super comfy bed, interesting and eclectic decor, plenty of streaming choices on the tv, and an overall home-y feel. That said … the shower water wasn’t quite hot enough, the tp was scratchy one-ply, the tap water isn’t safe to drink (use the filtering jug in the fridge), the living room furniture is quite uncomfortable, and there’s significant road noise. Overall we give it an 8 - nice, but could be a little better.

Overview

Positives were that the house was very clean and was unusually well equipped—except for the left handed can opener which was hard to use. The lamp in the living room was very hard to turn on. The only real drawback was the drainage in the showers. I didn’t get a response from the owner when I both emailed and phoned to ask if we could come an hour early. All that being said, I’d still give it 5 stars.

This was a great getaway for my husband , kids and I. The house was very clean and eco friendly ( solar) which is a plus for us!! We really enjoyed the bike trail and our family used it every day. This cozy, clean home away from home was a blessing from above. The decor brought me a tremendous sense of inner peace, and it was a relaxing place to rest my head after a long beach day. Speaking of the beach, this place is SO close to a variety of beaches. We were able to hop over to Nokomis, Venice, and Sharky’s with ease. We will definitely be making this our yearly vacation home. Stones throw from the gulf

AC didn’t work. Neighborhood was sketchy, thought we heard gun shots, the unit smelled like my grandmas house/ per my spouse, like old tequila. Bed creaked every time someone turned over and woke us up.
