Wallace Cottage - Meredith Lodging

A beautifully restored 1939 vintage cabin will take you back in time to the early days of vacation retreats at Mt Hood. Get comfortable in the cozy and warm living room by the original rock fireplace with a woodstove insert. Cook meals in the modern and updated kitchen with new stainless appliances. You will love the big yard for summer fun with a sunny lawn and a shaded covered porch surrounded by tall old-growth Douglas fir trees.

The two bedrooms are upstairs with a queen bed in one and a double bed in the second bedroom. Recline with a good book in the reading nook at the top of the stairs in-between the two bedrooms. The bathroom downstairs is fully remodeled with a tub/shower enclosure, modern vanity and warm views of the backyard. The updated mudroom includes full-sized front-loading washer and dryer.

Grill on the gas BBQ year-round under the covered front porch. Listen to the soothing water feature and pond in the front yard, while you dine alfresco at the outdoor dining table. Kids will have fun in the play structure and running around the large lawn in the backyard. You can warm up around the 3-season firepit, too. The Wallace Cottage is close to Wildwood Recreation Site, Sandy Ridge Mountain Bike Trails and Mt Hood National Forest hiking trails. The Wallace Cottage is next door to the Bridlewood Cabin for 2 families or couples traveling together.

Very cozy! The wood stove is sweet, and the kitchen is well stocked with cookware. Be very very careful where you step : the staircase to the bedrooms is very narrow, the steps are uneven and there are nails poking out here and there. We didn’t realize that our dog used to be an OSHA inspector: she refused to go down the stairs and had to be coerced! Also note that the cabin is just arm’s distance from the residence next door, and the backyard is shared. Also, as of 12/26/25, there is a big tree downed in the backyard, and it crashed through the fence, so the yard is not entirely enclosed.
We put up the gate pictured here to keep our dog away from the hot stove.

I’m very sorry about the staircase and the yard issues — that shouldn’t have been a safety concern you had to worry about. We had our maintenance team inspect the stairs right away and they took care of the protruding nail heads. We are currently working our way through the large downed tree and that project should be done shortly. We hope to host you again soon!

Great retreat property

We enjoyed our cozy cabin getaway to this property with our young family of 4. It was relaxing and worked well for our family. The only disappointment was that our children could not enjoy the cool playhouse that was in the yard because it was not included with the rental of the property.

Wonderful and Cozy Stay

Our family had a great time at this property. It was slightly difficult to find it when we arrived as the Google map takes you to a parallel street but once we made it we had a great time. The property has everything we needed.

Perfect spot for Mt Hood skiing

Charming cabin in a quiet area—It was perfect for spring skiing up at Mt Hood. The kitchen was very well equipped and the place was very clean. The rental company was very pleasant and easy to work with.

Winter Cabin Weekend

Our family of 4 loved our wkd stay at Wallace Cottage. It's a great cabin that keeps the cabin feel, yet has all the modern appliances you need for a weekend. The yard, play structure and outside spaces were a nice bonus.

Cute place!

We really enjoyed our stay and the hiking in the area. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone older. Very steep and unusual staircase to get to the bedrooms

The cabin was really nice, with rustic charm and the neighborhood quiet. Easy to find, with convenient parking. The kitchen and bathroom are both really nice. It was easy to come and go from the property and we appreciated the easy check out list. My only complaint would be, was certain areas weren’t very clean. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedding were clean (minus the shower & freezer) The rug in the living room hadn’t been cleansed/vacuumed since the previous stay and it had a lot of dog hair, pine needles and grass all over it -so did the pillows on the couch. There were alot of cob webs and the floors weren’t very clean. We did really enjoy the air conditioning. That was a pleasant surprise on the 100 degree days we were there! We’d definitely stay at this cabin again. We really enjoyed our stay.

Cozy Cottage for a Lazy Weekend

My partner and I were looking to get out of the city and enjoy a quiet wilderness setting, and sit by a campfire in the snow. This spot was perfect for that. The cabin is cozy with a rustic feel, but not lacking in any modern amenities, and plenty of space. Recommend highly we may return soon

The photos do not accurately represent the house at all. The house is very dark as opposed to how light it looks in the photos. The staircase is so small, I would be shocked if it’s actually legal. There were ants crawling around the kitchen the entire time we were there all over our food. The kitchen did have plenty of cooking supplies which was nice. The listing online also made it look like it was a secluded little cabin, but there were other houses within 15 feet of this house, multiple in fact, not just one more. The bottom line is the photos on the website were really misleading.

Quiet cottage in Mt. Hood neighboorhood.

It was veey quiet and clean and just the right size for the whole family. The club house unfortunately was locked so my kids couldnt play inside but they loved the horse shoes and deck. It was difficult to find as the gps points to the oposite side of the property and there are two Wallace aves. The eaaiest way in is to stay on the main road, turn left on Mountain Air and the left on wallace. It is in a neighboorhood and people do live there but there is enough woodland around to kake you feel secluded. Overall great place.

Secluded for Sure

The pictures didn't do justice for the feel of the cabin. It was quite creepy. Spiderwebs everywhere, and inside was dark, although the many lights did help. I did want to be in nature, but this was too much for me. The entry and finding this place was kind of bothersome. I think if there were others the feel wouldn't have been so creepy. The amenities provided were excellent though.

mildew and cobwebs

My partner and I had been looking forward to staying here for the past month, unfortunately as soon as we arrived, our hopes for a lovely weekend away were gone. Immediately as we walked in we were struck with a very strong moldy odor. We tried opening all the windows to air the place out, but as we explored more of the cabin we only became more convinced that we should leave immediately. Every single corner in the home and many of the walls were absolutely filled with thick cobwebs, especially the two rooms upstairs. In the kitchen water damage was immediately apparent on many of the ceiling and wall planks and the living room had a large patch of mold growing on the ceiling. Aside from the lack of cleanliness, this place does have a creepy vibe to it as other reviews have stated. The staircase especially which looks straight out of a horror movie. After trying to air the cottage out unsucessfully we both had severe headaches from the moldy smell, we decided it wouldn't be safe to stay and left before even being able to load our luggage in. For a place that states they have professional cleaners this cottage seems to have been dangerously disregarded for quite some time. Our worst VRBO experience by far.

Black Carpenter Ants

We were told we couldn’t have early check in because of other guests they needed the whole time to clean. I’m not sure what they cleaned kitchen I had to clean everything and the spiderwebs were so think on everything! Definitely not what the pictures showed. The owner was there when we got in cutting boards for an add on next door put trash in our trash left out all his trash in the front so we had to look at the whole time. But, the reason why we had to leave was because of the big black carpenter ants that were all over in the inside of the house. On the curtains in the beds it was a lot very overwhelming. We lost time on our vacation then had to move to another place. I’m currently in the middle of trying to get my money back for my nights I wasn’t there. I was in town for 10 days lots of places to stay and I had lots of choices I choose here because we wanted relaxing nights and enjoyable down time. We got nothing of the short! Being a property owner myself I would never rent anything that was in the shape and the infection this place has! Nor would I be working on an add on to the property instead of fixing what is already broken. Hopefully they make good decisions and do the right thing!

Our team was denied entrance to the home, but did spray the outside of the home. Post check-out, our property manager did a walk-through of the home, and no ants were detected. Cute, clean, not so private.

Adorable and clean cottage. Not super private and in the woods, but a nice getaway near Mt. Hood. I would totally stay here again. Just note that all the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs in case you need a potty trip in the middle of the night. Also, the neighbors are very close and can see into the bedrooms and main rooms due to the see-through Roman sades (not exactly private at night or when changing clothes). Hopefully, they will upgrade the shades. Also, bring your own salt and pepper.
