Perfect place to base a winter get away, access to Mt Cook, Ohau Ski field etc. house had great space and lots of heating options to keep toasty and warm.
It was as internet describes we had pretty cold weather during our stay and 3 out of our group were cold whilst sleeping. I would rate the location for exploring the region
I’ll start with the positives: This unit is centrally located (to Twizel) as the description indicates. It’s also only a 40-45 minute drive from Mt. Cook.
The negatives: when we arrived the house was full of moths, flies, and other insects. My wife was disgusted, and I spent the better part of an hour getting them out of just the bedroom alone so we could sleep (clearing the rest of the house would have taken a good portion of our stay). The next morning, we woke up early to make breakfast before a trip to Mt. Cook and found a number of the plates and mugs had been put away dirty, so we had to wash dishes before we could eat. We reached out to the management who did apologize and offered a very small discount on our stay which, although this was appreciated, wasn’t enough to make up the difference between what we paid for this stay, and what we actually found when we got there.
