About this property

Santa’s Shack Whole House - Near Pictured Rocks

Pictured Rocks Family Rentals welcomes you to Santa's Shack Whole House! This is actually 2 apartments, Santa's Shack Upstairs and Downstairs, connected by a laundry room so you can go from 1 unit to the other without stepping outside :) Home offers 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 kitchens and 2 living rooms. Conveniently located right behind gas station and walking distance to Foggy's Steakhouse and Casino. Christmas trailhead is only a couple blocks away. Home has tankless water heater so no cold showers!

This home is 2 separate listings that we have combined into one to offer a location for larger groups that would like to have at least 2 bathrooms and more beds for their stay. This rental does not include Santa's Shack Studio unit located on same site. We added an on demand water heater so nobody has to dread taking the last shower in a large group, lol. The home is heated by natural gas wall heaters that do get hot to the touch, so please be careful with young ones. This home has 3 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 is upstairs with a queen bed. Bedroom 2 is upstairs with a queen bed and a full on bottom/twin on top bunk bed. Bedroom 3 is downstairs with a queen bed and a private entrance to bathroom 2. The downstairs living room also has a queen sofa sleeper.

Guests have access to whole house, they do not have access to the separate Santa's Shack Studio Apartment building onsite.

We live nearby if you should need anything but will not come over unless you ask us to. If you have any questions/concerns, please message through the app or text, or call if it is an emergency.

Walking distance to Foggy's Steakhouse, Christmas Casino, gas station/party store, and less than a mile to snowmobile/ORV trailhead. Less than 5 miles to downtown Munising and all of the Pictured Rocks boat tours, kayak rentals, etc.

There is a large, wide driveway in front of the home and another driveway to the right of the buildings that all guests are welcome to use. For getting around, we recommend your own vehicles, unless you are coming to ride snowmobiles/ATVs. There also is a bus service called Altran, but you should call ahead to schedule pick ups/drop offs.

*There is another rental unit on-site (Santa's Shack Studio)
*The outdoor amenities are shared between all units (hot tub, fire pit, parking area, etc)
*Quiet time is 10 pm to 8 am
*There is 24 hr audio/video surveillance equipment facing all exterior entry doors
*No unauthorized guests (people not included on reservation) allowed without preapproval from host
*No animals allowed

Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. Primary guest will need to send a picture of government issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group.

Wonderful place!! Hot tub was very nice! Place was very clean, spacious, beds and bedding very comfortable. Plenty of extra pillows, blankets, towels. Danielle was excellent and checked in on us and our needs upon arrival and was very responsive to any questions or feedback including recommending a beach that felt like a special find! We really enjoyed our stay at Christmas! The house kitchen was stocked so we could make multiple meals. Multiple towels and blankets! Hot was great after a day of hiking. Great house, we had "whole house" which included a ground level unit that had 1 bed room, full kitchen, bathroom and living room with pull up sofa bed. There was an upstairs with another full kitchen, loving room, bathroom and 2 bedrooms. Kitchen and bathroo s were well stocked. Hot tub was great!

Perfect Michigan stay

Santa’s Shack was a perfect location in the U.P. To make as our home camp between Pictured Rocks and Marquette. It had great location within walking distance for supper. Hot tub was amazing on the cool evenings. Danielle was quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed. Reccomend!

Cozy and roomy!

Our family loved our getaway to Santa’s Shack whole house! There were seven of us, and we all had our own bed with plenty of space to hang out as a large group or individually. The house was fully equipped to meet all of our needs, and the hot tub was a great addition! It was easy to find, and located with quick convenient access to restaurants, waterfalls, hiking trails, and the casino. We would definitely stay here again. UP Marathon Stay

This location was perfect for the UP marathon and many beaches and activities. Great for big crowd. Only suggestion would be to remove Teflon pans and replace with steel which are much healthier to cook with.

Merry time in Christmas

The house was perfect for us and everyone had their own bed! We rented both floors and as we were the grandparents, we had the lower level to ourselves! Perfect location to drive to Munising which was just minutes away. Danielle is a topnotch hostess and appreciated the extra touches, super clean and comfy! The hot tub was just what we needed after a day of hiking/walking!

Summer in Christmas

We had an outstanding week in this comfortable house. It is close to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Marquette, to name two options. We were only limited by our energy- there was so much to do! And when we returned after a day of exploring, we were able to soak in the outdoor hot tub and prepare food in the well-appointed kitchen. The beds were comfortable too. When we had questions, the owners were quick to respond. We'll be back!

Santas shack

The house was very comfortable for the 8 of us. The upstairs(unit 2) is beautiful and very spacious. There is a ton of natural light. We were able to make all of our meals with the supplies that Danielle had provided. The deck is very large and accommodated all of us easily. The only negative was it faces the back of the hotel next store and the main road. The bath is very nice and Danielle has added some extra supplies in case you forget something. There is a part of the bathtub that moves and is too flexible under foot. The stairs up to the unit are quite steep. The downstairs(unit 3) is less impressive. It’s been updated, however it’s dark and much smaller. We tried to use the pullout bed, but the mattress was disgusting looking and very uncomfortable, so 2 of us ended up on the couches. The downstairs bath is very large, but it has multiple levels. You go up 2 steps to the toilet and two for the shower. It’s very awkward and could be dangerous depending on who is renting this space. When you step out of the shower the step bows and the shower floor is slippery.

This house is amazing!! We rented the Santa’s Shack Whole House with another couple, one couple stayed upstairs and the other downstairs and it was very comfy and set up very nicely. The other couple own a resort in Minnesota so they are always looking for new ideas for their own place and she LOVED it!! She said that if we ever take another vacation in this area we would definitely stay here again! So clean and well equipped! And the hot tub was perfect! And the host was very easy to get a hold of . She answered any questions that came up very quickly. Thank you for sharing your place with us!!

We love our stay there. The owner communicated with us and put the description as best as she can which matches our expectations. The property is very clean, spacious and lovely. She had provided some extra supplies too. I recommend this to anyone in big group! We might come back and stay here again in the future.

My husband Kevin and I have been managing vacation rentals since 2016. We enjoy providing lodging and a place to call home for others to share the beauty of this amazing area. He was born and raised in the area, while I am from the lower peninsula.

Why they chose this property

We have this property because it was included in a package deal from the previous owner of the White Pine Lodge. We love the functionality of being able to offer a place that can sleep up to 18 when reserving all 3 apartments and the bunk house (called Santa’s Shack Triplex), yet also can accommodate smaller groups comfortably.

What makes this property unique

We added a hot tub in the winter of 21 that is for all the units to share. We love the functionality of being able to accommodate large groups or a few small groups.
