If you mean RedAwning, I will never use them again. I had to wait months to get answers to my plan ahead questions. I waited 1/2 hr on the phone to ask questions and the prompt to chat on line with a machine is not helpful at all. But If you mean Yosemite regional resorts (once redawning released there number to me) as a host, they were better to help locally with daily needs and were pleasant on the phone. But took Redawning forever to get answers from them. I had to call the local marina to get answers to my boating questions and where to eat Why? Most disappointed communications I’ve ever experience with a vbro. Thankful the place was a blessing for our family. But for this mama it was stressful beginnings

Wonderful cabin on the lake

Beautiful cabin on the lake less than 30 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite! Stacked with games to play with your companions or go relax by the lake. Little something to do whatever you feel.

Wonderful vacation!

Loved visiting Pine Mtn Lake and the Big House on the Lake. The house was cool and refreshing with the AC and particularly downstairs. All the games were amazing with our kids. And my husband loved the dock to fish from...along with the canoe and kayak. Great house...great vacation. I hope it's available still next summer.

Pine Mountain Lake is a Hidden Gem

The good, bad, and ugly. My comments are based on the cost vs. value exchange. First Pine Mountain Lake is the hidden gem very few know about. The location on the water is good and in a private cove. The assortment of games/ ping pong/pool provides good entertainment. The kitchen had all the tools and even supplied propane. The bad is we may have been the first rental of the season, and we had to replace 4 light bulbs (the lights in the living room and kitchen are inadequate) the GFI reset in the garage (once you found it) did not work, the grill was dirty, and the large deck (recently upgraded!) and furniture covers were not cleaned before arrival. The driveway down to the home is steeper than Filmore Street in SF with a scary turn and decent. The upstairs air conditioning did not cool properly compared with the rest of the home. The ugly. Two items: despite incurring a substantial cleaning fee, the checklist for leaving the property essentially asked the guest to do ALL the cleaning, garbage, and dishes except for the linens/sheets. Second, I was confirmed twice by Red Awning, paid for a pet, denied by Yosemite Region Resorts, then submitted ESA paperwork, and again denied as they were no longer allowing ESAs. This was due to confusion about the terms/conditions of Red Awning vs. Yosemite Resorts. Overall this was a good experience. Fix these the issues mentioned, install a few upgrades, provide better pricing, and we may rent for a week.

This house was perfect for our big family. The location was great and all kids had a blast. On the lake in front of marina (not busy). My only complaint - 4 empty propane tanks and not willing to refill or reimburse, which made cooking inside difficult for 15 people.

Great family getaway

We had a wonderful time in Groveland. The marina was very close so our teenagers were able to be very independent and we could still keep an eye on them. Canoes were great to cruise around in. Would definitely come back.

Big luxury cabin

Cabin was large with lots of nooks to get away for a nap. Nice view of marina for optimal people watching. Lots of games and activities for teenage boys in the house and lake. Wish the kitchen had more utensils and beds were more firm. Otherwise a fantastic place to be with family, kick back and relax.

Ok but won't be back

House was great, well equipped, great location, nice and big, comfortable--no complaints at all. Lake is beautiful. However, the people that run that lake are ridiculous. So many (really unnecessary) rules and too many old people making complaints. We are just a normal family (not partiers), and our kids were getting called out for swimming mere inches from the designated area. My brother drove to the beach parking lot to pick us up with all of our gear, and the lady at the gate actually himmed and hawed about letting him in (these are just a few examples). We felt like they were purposely trying to be difficult because we were outsiders. By the time we left, we called it the "No Fun Lake." Why does the HOA even allow homes to be rented? The homeowners certainly don't make you feel welcome.

Best of the Best

Our group and I were absolutely blown away when we arrived... Not only is the location of the rental safe and in a beautiful area, the place is bigger and even more spacious than shown in the pictures. I am really critical about cleanliness and let me tell you I was not disappointed. Everything from the bedding to the shower to the kitchen utensils were immaculate. There is also a lot of games located inside the house so if there is one night where you want to stay in, you will not be board. This rental is IDEAL for larger groups because of the space and amenities. The outside of the rental is just as perfect as the inside. The scenery is A1. The water/dock is just a few yards away from the home and is located right in the middle of some of the most beautiful hiking trails. We loved how many decks the house had because there was enough room to play cornhole and bbq at the same time. The staff is also very friendly. The location is a little off from what Google Maps but the upon your arrival the staff puts together a welcome kit where they have step by step directions on how to get there. They are also VERY responsive to any questions you may have. Overall this has been my favorite place to stay thus far.

Not too shabby we love the lake view

Overall we had a great time, the house is beautiful and big. The view is amazing. I get rules and I assume at a point previous guest might have done certain things to create so many rules, but the house comes with a lot of rules. Also, take your own Toilet Paper take for the size of the house the tp was a issue but there is a store in town where you can buy it (I was thinking when I spend that much money, I don't have to take my own TP) also I got charged for cleaning/washing sheets but in 3 of the bedroom sheets there was long black hair inside. The BBQ was a mess (took pictures) we cleaning it out that wasn't cleaned (in the rules it states if you use it to clean it up) and when we were leaving we made sure we cleaned it up as well. The last negative remark I would mention is that when you pay for cleaning of the house, which was not cheap (three hundred something dollars) you still have to keep the kitchen clean (what you use you wash and put it way). When we arrived the cleaning crew were not finished and we arrived later then our check in and some dishes were out still, but leaving I made sure everything was put away where it belonged (didn't want to get additional charges) and oh yes you have to take the trash out as well. So pretty much cleaning fee is for ? I spend a lot of money but felt like I had to keep on cleaning up on my vacation so that I don't have to pay more. Overall, the house is nice and big. Maybe we can try it in the summer time to enjoy the lake.

Hi Jenny. We're so happy to know that you had a great time at "A Big House On The Lake" in Pine Mountain Lake. Wonderful! A 3-star review is unusual for this beautiful luxury lakefront home. You brought up an excellent point with the requirement for guests to wash & put away all used dishes. This home takes 6+ hours to clean & prep between guests (this does not include washing, drying, putting away guests used dishes). Can you imagine how much longer it would take housekeeping if they had to wash all used dishes for every party of 12 that stayed? It could potentially take 2-3 more hours and this would only increase the cost of the cleaning fee. You experienced the consequences of exactly this scenario. The guest that checked out of the cabin the same day that you were due to arrive, did not wash & put away their dishes, so housekeeping was still there cleaning when you arrived, compromising your check-in time. This is nearly a 4000sqft home, with 5 bedrooms, 11 beds to make, 3 bathrooms, 3 levels, plus a gameroom and 2 wet bars... not an easy task to tackle after vacationing groups of 12. But based on your comments it would seem that you did not take any of this into consideration, but feel that taking out your trash, washing your dishes and cleaning the bbq is all that is involved in cleaning this giant home and that you overpaid on the cleaning fee??? We provide 8 rolls of toilet paper per reservation; this should have been sufficient for your 2 night stay. Happy Adventuring! Peace, Tara & The Yosemite Region Resorts Team

We LOVED this property!! Three families, 5 adults, 6 kids and plenty of room for all of us!

We had a wonderful stay at this property!! We had three families and a total of six kids in one cabin and it worked. We never felt on top of each other. Layout is great!! Family room is comfortable and has a great view! Playroom downstairs for the kids was awesome!! Kitchen was big enough for everyone to gather around the island and at the table. We will definitely book this property again! Some info before you book: *There is a small dock but no real place to sit at the water's edge. It is not an easy walk down from the house for young kids. We thought we'd be hanging out and swimming here but instead we went to the marina. *Yes, it's 0.9 miles to the beach, but you cannot walk it. The road does not have a pedestrian space so you must drive, especially with a bunch of kids in tow. However, the house is directly across from the marina which made shuttling back and forth via the kayak and canoe easy and fun. *The kids were super disappointed that there were no ping pong balls for the ping pong table so you might want to bring some. *Hammock had a hole so we couldn't really use it.

Big house, plenty of fun stuff but several extra costs!!

It's a good place, big house indeed. Lots of room, and plenty of games to keep us entertained. Even had a boat and many life vests! Some points to be aware of (READ FINE PRINT FOR EXACT AMOUNT): 1. linens are not included and cost extra 2. Its a gated community and parking is extra per car 3. No spices at all in the kitchen (not even salt and pepper) Usually I have found kitchen to be well equipped. 4. The one room upstairs gets very hot with the heater on. Overall, ends up being quite expensive.

Thank you for your review of "A Big House on the Lake". A few things have changed since you stayed with us. You will be happy to know that we no longer ask guests to bring their own linens. They are now included with your reservation. We also want to let you know that, since our company is not associated with Pine Mountain Lake (we just manage homes that are in that gated community), the passes are now purchased directly at the main Security Gate by each individual driver. This eliminates some of the confusion about how many passes need to be purchased up-front and also trying to coordinate how to get all the passes to guests who are coming at different times. This new requirement works out much better for everyone involved. Each home-owner chooses to provide condiments or not. Many times, guests do not want to use someone else's food items and would rather bring their own. Our local grocery store carries a very good selection of most items and they are on the way to Pine Mountain Lake, so you don't have to go out of your way. If you are coming to this area during the summer months, particularly July through September, rooms that are upstairs can get quite warm, since heat rises. We will be happy to deliver extra fans to the home to make your stay more comfortable. All you have to do is call our office. Thank you, again, for choosing to stay with us.
