Our family stayed here during our spring break trip. The home is incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable! It is conveniently located near Lexington and many local attractions. Don't miss this opportunity especially if you have a large family or group.
Six adults and a toddler enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, the power was out half of our stay because of the hurricane but the house was still comfortable with many windows we could open and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy during the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit, grill and outdoor picnic area. We'd stay again if we are ever in the area!
Perfect mix of old world charm and modern convenience
We were in the area to check out Douthat State Park for Spring Break for our new puppy, so this home was just perfect. Beautiful (and modernized) 1850 house, fenced yard, strong cell and WiFi signals, comfy furniture, a well-stocked kitchen, beautiful views and super close access to I-64 (~15 minutes to the park and Clifton Forge). Property owners were responsive and pleasant, but not overbearing.
The old farm house was perfect for our two families. It was right off the highway so it was great for getting to and from Lexington for our kids races. The beds are very comfy and you have everything there to prepare meals. We stayed during winter so like most old houses there were quite a few lady bugs in the kitchen and bathrooms. There is only one shower so getting cleaned up each night after racing took some time but overall it was a great place to stay
Our family loved our time in this beautiful home with years of history and filled with beautiful antiques. Pond with fish that our party enjoyed simply casting a hook for that catch and release game! Excellent area for cooking out and complete with fire pit for roasting marshmallows for smores. Beds were super comfortable. We truly enjoyed the down time with family! Of course, the Virginia Safari Zoo was on our list of things to do. We were greeted by Paul , who was a historian who provided some info on the history of the homes in the valley. I so enjoyed my stay. Thank you, Paul, for allowing us to visit your lovely home.
The house was very spacious with plenty of beds. We didn't feel like we were on top of each other. We liked the two sets of stairs, it made it easier to bring our things up to the bedrooms. The house had everything we needed, and the front porch was great. The fenced in yard was a big plus with dogs. The only downfall was having only one shower. Everyone took showers, so that made it a bit difficult with time. But overall, a great place to stay!
Myself and three co-workers had a week long project at the mill in Covington. We typically stay in a hotel in Lewisburg, WVA. Decided to look for 4 bedroom house in the area. We got lucky. Paul and Mary's house was just what we needed. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The washer and dryer got a lot of use. If you have ever spent time in a paper mill you will understand!! The large front porch became our gathering spot for evening chats and cold beverages after a 12 hour day. Thanks for the hosiptality.

Spacious getaway retreat
The home was large and spacious. But of the two bathrooms, only one has a shower. I think this should be made clear in the listing as no one in our group likes baths.
The hang out pavilion was trashed when we arrived. There was no propane so we couldn’t grill the food we brought.
The managers/hosts were unresponsive and unhelpful when they finally did respond.
Owners/hosts live next door with two German shepherds that bark all night long. Bring ear plugs if you would like to sleep.
The home overall was lovely. The experience of the stay was quite poor.
We were in town for the VHSA (horse show) and wanted to stay as a group instead of single hotel rooms. I really like having a kitchen a other places to hang out. Kitchen had everything we needed! I also love having extra trash bags, laudrey detergent, paper towels and dish soap. We loved the house! Only 20 miles from the horse center.
