The two and a half story, 4,400 sq ft home features 2 spiral staircases, one to an open loft overlooking the living room, and the second to a charming, private reading nook over the master bedroom suite. There is a spacious formal living room, along with a sunken fireplace room on the main level of the house, both furnished in comfortable, cozy decor. A true country kitchen houses the farmhouse dining table with easy seating for 10. There are additional tables and chairs downstairs in the generous family room which can be used for additional dining space. A large theater area for group viewing offers a 64" screen, and a game area for family fun boasts games, puzzles, Foosball table and a checkers/chess table. The house is complete with a wrap around, rocking chair front porch, and the covered, multi-level back deck offers over 800 sq ft of additional outdoor gathering space. Together with the five separate, ground-level patios, there is outdoor seating for 40 plus, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows on those cool Central Virginia evenings.
The small, Virginia pond offers catch-and-release fishing, perfect for adults and small children...bring your own fishing gear. A curved bridge leads to the island and pergola near the in-pond fountain, making the perfect setting for photos, small weddings or other outdoor events (per owners approval).
Mountain View Lodge is located 12 minutes from Lynchburg and Liberty University. Within a 20-45 minute drive are nationally renowned attractions such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smith Mountain Lake, Natural Bridge, The National D-Day Memorial, Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, Patrick Henry's Red Hill Estate and Snowflex, the nation's only outdoor, year-round snow sports slope, offering skiing, snowboarding and inner-tubing no matter the temperature or weather! This beautiful home is also surrounded by countless scenic drives, tours and Virginia wineries.
Groceries and other necessities, along with dining, shopping and other activities are available in Lynchburg, Appomattox and Rustburg, each a convenient 8-15 minute drive.
Due to the wildlife mounts, and in consideration of future guests' allergies, this is a strictly no-smoking property inside or out, and no alcohol-based events are allowed.
Note: We require a minimum 24-48 hours between guests in order to properly clean, disinfect, restock the lodge and do outside maintenance as needed.
