Area was amazing. Extremly scenic. Unfornatly we had sheets, pillow cases, couch cusions, and towels with large obvious stains on them. Very dissapointing. Another let down was there is no light in the bathroom. Host was pleasent but the stains were hard to overlook.
Close to the harbor and schooner cruises out of Boothbay Harbor! Right across from Robinsons wharf with amazing Maine seafood! Great for day trips to Damariscotta, Bath, and Pemaquid Lighthouse.
We enjoyed our stay here for three nights of exploration. It is close enough to Boothbay Harbor to get there quickly and beat the crowds. From the living room is a nice view, although obstructed, of the inlet with boats going in and out. The deck and barbecue looked inviting (it was cold and rainy so we did not take advantage). The house itself is shoehorned between three other houses, none of which are too close. We were checked in by a lovely hostess from the management agency and eventually met the owner of the property who lives adjacent (and sweetly shared some banana bread). The house itself is good size--the only issue was storage in the kitchen, but this is not a big deal when staying for a short time. The shower is small with a faucet that dumps rather than drizzles and there is no light in the bathroom (that we could find); these are bearable issues considering all else!
We had a very nice time. The cottage is small, as described. The water was hot and plentiful. An instruction page in the cottage notebook explaining how to use the tv would be very helpful.
The cottage was was warm and cozy in the late-season Maine weather. Check-ing/Check-out was a breeze. Southport's quiet charm is a stone's throw from Boothbay Harbor's more active downtown. Proximity to Barter Island and Wiscasset are also appealing. Rockland for the art museum and galleries are a scenic hour's drive. highly recommend Little Nick.
We liked the cottage. Just big enough for two, though we are large and the shower is a tight fit. lol. We did leave several rolls of toilet paper so the next guest won't need to buy in advance. No complaints.
We have visited Down East Maine many times, but this was our first time to stay on the Midcoast. Little Nick on Southport Island was the perfect home base. The location was convenient for all of our explorations. We enjoyed seeing the boats go out from the harbor each morning. The kitchen is compact, but it worked great for our meal preps. We were pleasantly surprised at how well-equipped it was. The cottage is well-maintained, and we loved our time in it!
